There's a loop hole in the american version that I never realised before... The people in it always die when there just happens to be a TV there, but in the original they can die anywhere? If in the American version the people knew that they were going to die because of a TV, they'd lock themselves up in an asylum right?

i was watching this movie the full one not the "parts" on youtube. and i felt asleep, now don't get me wrong. i was awaken by the sound of the scream and creepy music. just as i open my eyes in the dark at 3:15am (which the christians believe to be a devil hour but i'm not a christian just saying) i looked at my laptop and saw the ringu ghost! fuck that's not how i wanted to be awaken :(

This is my 2nd time watching this, but i still think Ju-On is scarier, i still love both Ju-On and Ringu tho my personal favorite is Ringu 2

@Nakota699 Maybe... Ju-On lacks consistency though. I've watched Ju-On since its theatrical release back in 2003 (or 2004?), and series went downhill after that. The best Ju-On by miles is Ju-On: the Curse.

I think Ringu's story is much better develloped, unlike Ju-On which is unbelievable bad in terms of storyline structure. But I do think Toshio and Kayako are way more charismatic than Sadako.

Japanese films are loads better than the merican remakes. The horror's more ... I dunno ... subtler in this one, cuz in the American Ring its just creepy corpses all the way.

@MythologyNut01 Well, I think they're both good in their respective ways. I like the American version because there are better effects and is creepier and has a little more mystery. But I like Ringu too because it's original and Japanese horror films in general because there are actual plots and aren't just about killing like some slash.horror movies are, :/ I don't know, Ring is just an amazing movie as its own. :D

@rainbowstargreengirl The fly coming out was just so damn creepy! The details in the Hollywood remake were extremely unnerving- Samara's voice for instance. The bits of stuff that they would cough up. They experienced her pain and suffering for 7 days. Those elements made it really creepy and scary in ways that Ringu does not. I was scared poop-less by The Ring. While Ringu doesn't scare me, I still enjoy it enough to watch it over and over. I have only watched The Ring once.

@MythologyNut01 And in this series, Sadako is more explored. In Ju-on, Kayako and Toshio are a mother and son killed in a rage who go on to kill others. Sadako is given more backstory, and thus we're able to understand her more and why/how she does what she does.
