One of Steve Jobs' great legacies is Pixar, which created some of the greatest animated feature films ever. Jobs is one of the Remies of the computer age, one of those misfits who came from unlikely places and transformed modern technology forever. He will be missed.
not only his saying goes for fellow critics, but for life, to people that does a lot for us and we r just willing to say bad things about it... and it´s a lesso for life, at least for me.
Thank u, Pixar. One day, I´m gonna share not only ur movies, but the lessons u taught me to my future kids.
To tell you the truth, the Movie is all about this 2 minutes scene.
In general, Ratatouille follows "the recipe" when "cooking" a children Movie: two spoons of talking animals, a little bit of suspense and drama, a few drops of romance and quite a generous amount of comedy. Let it cook for 1 hour and a half, and you are ready to serve an average CGI children film.
Now, this last scene is THAT special condiment it needs to be something memorable. It will make me always remember it.
@nacritico Very true. This clip is what makes the film memorable. It's very true and I can imagine the artists enjoying every single frame of making this - if not to get back at movie critics.
i dont think any kids would understand what Ego is talking about... not to say its bad, I really like Pixar always got something for everyone, keeping intelligent of the movie on par with adults as well.
It's hard to know what is more amazing. The scene, or the fact that this scene came from a Pixar film- Pixar being one of the most critically acclaimed group of filmmakers in the world today, who have continued to amaze us with their amazing storytelling year after year. I can't imagine a critic that actually has something bad to say about Pixar. Perhaps that's what makes it so moving to see them step forward with such a strong statement on the true value of criticism.
Probably the scene that ahngs on my mind the most, the scene when he tastes the Ratatouille and his mind takes him to the scene of his mother's cooking is so amazing, it turns him into a real person, not just the critic or the cold person but a person who had a beginning as a child too, his review is also memorable, definitely he deserved his Academy Award, Pixar will always bring us jewels like this for years to go
@OrderoftheWhiteHand i bought it w/ my allowance when i was 11 it is one of pixars most touching and thought provoking movies ever! Cant find it now got buried under a bunch of old stuff in my 'sentimental' suitcase ( geez doesnt feel like i went to the theatre and saw it that long ago & its been what?- 3 YEARS?!) and they dont have the whole thing on here is there any way i can watch the full thing somewhere else? (ps.Patton Oswalt is wack though :(
I just saw this movie for the first time last night and as good as the movie is, this speech is the thing that will stick with me the most. Peter O'Toole's voice and the dialog are memorable.
"Not everyone can become a great artist but a great artist can come from anywhere."
This delivery, was just amazing. It's the most sincere, and unbelievably real "review" and makes you understand the extent of Remy's talent, and the feeling of wonder it gave to Ego. This made us know that the Ratatouille was beyond perfect...without even tasting it. Total genius.
Who wouldn't want Peter O'Toole to read them a bedtime story every night? I'm almost 40 and have two kids of my own to whom I read bedtime stories, and yet I believe that I'd probably have the most peaceful night falling asleep to the amazing voice and delivery of this living legend.
Won't work for anyone. That's a local folder hierarchy. The only people it will work for are people who have a file of the exact same name under a series of folders of the exact same name, Jalinn.
Shit was fantastic, especially considering the "I am a scary demonic vampire-man-beast from your worst nightmares" persona Ego carried for the entire movie up until this point.
I'll be honest. I didn't really like this movie...until this scene. This...made the entire movie worth watching.

Anton Ego's critique is so great that it should be a slap on the face for fellow critics.

This meal made Ego love food again. I can relate, as a bit of a movie critic myself.

@rmeddy1 This speech will resonate with anyone who has ever want or have design & create anything... and maybe their critics too...
It also bring me on an pure emotional ride that I totally did not expect... and I always tear up a bit after...

This is the scene that turned Ratatouille (in my eyes) from a great film into a wonderful film. And it came in the last 5 minutes =P

Well, it's Peter fucking O'Toole. (I didn't know that when I first saw the movie, but when I found out later I wasn't surprised.)

this is 1 of the reasons why this is a great animation.
it manages to unify a fun and funny children's movie with a deep meaning and a true classic movie : ]
