@013Crashman They're "public domain" insofar as the Megaman 8 FC project is a fan collaboration. They shared tiles, sprites and music to encourage people to help out. It seems to still be a work in progress because I haven't seen too much changed on the website, but I haven't gotten around to looking at it deeply this week.
This is cool, but don't you think you should tell where it came from, like the makers of Rockman 8 FC? I'm not critisizing the video, but it looks as if you MADE the music because you stated you wanted to show them the music in 8 bit, like you converted it or something and played it back. But these were made by extremely experienced composers of 8 bit songs working for the group that has given us the amazing Rockman 7 FC and the 8 is in production.
these weren't made in GSXCC whatever converter, plus that doesn't use the same exact sounds as megaman does, so they sound too ambient and mediocre. These were made with chipsounds so it sounds extremely authentic.
It's implied that you thought that, because you compared the time and effort the Rockman 7/8 FC team put into making NES/Famicom-styled renditions of the two games' soundtracks to throwing a few midis into GXSCC and calling it a day.
I suppose I shouldn't have used the word "fact," since it kinda makes me look like an asshole. But yeah, hopefully you get where I'm coming from. I love NES/Famicom music so much that I FFFFF when people upload more cheap GXSCC converted shit and call it NES music.
Hello fellow Mega Man fans. I'm currently working on a windows paint picture where I assemble EVERY single robot master from the Mega Man games(not counting spin-off games like the PC versions and powered up since it's a remake rather than a main game), but I am following a very strict rule, all of them must be in 8-bit. I'm done with MM1-9 and the gameboy games. But I'm having trouble with Mega Man & Bass. If anyone of are intrested in helping me, I'll be glad to.
I'll continue my description here because of the comment limitations, but anyway: If anyone of you are intrested in helping me with this project, simply go to my channel and let me know. To remind you: I will NOT include Oil Man and Time Man since they only appeared in MM powered up, which is a remake of the first game, and I will also not include the PC bosses because those games was not made by Capcom. With that out of the way, hope you are intrested and thanks for your attention.
You can also play it on the PS2, Xbox and GameCube if you own Mega Man Anniversary Collection, although they're inferrior to the PSX and Saturn versions because of emulation issues (Atomic Planet Entertainment, who made it with Capcom's blessing, screwed up the games royally).
In MMAC's games, the graphics are way too bright and fuzzy and there's considerable stretching, and the audio out of nowhere will just go low, then suddenly it'll go high. There's also some pretty pointless changes. Mega Man 6's Japanese intro music plays instead of the America version, and since Japanese people use less text than Americans, the music stops completely, halfway through the intro, so you watch the rest in silence, while the American version stops at the end. (ran out of space)
but whats really weird is that when you play granade man's stage on the gamecube, the song starts 5 seconds into itself, but for some strange reason when i play it on the wii the song is played correctly, from the beginning.
keep in mind this is the same MMAC game for the gamecube.
(continued) Mega Man 7 and Mega Man 8 suffered too. In the SNES versions' credits for MM7, you see a picture of Mega Man walking away from Wily's burning fortress with a pissed look on his face. This was removed because Atomic Planet claimed they couldn't emulate the effect, which is a lie because it's just an animated picture. That's what the entire game is, animated pictures. And Mega Man 8 has major audio problems, because in the second half of the games, characters voices are squeeky.
oh thank you, my childhood is starts at the snes era so I didn't know that about the first 6 games, emulators don't do justice. I already knew about the pic at the end of 7, they also changed a few of the lines in 7. I have the psx version of 8, the voices were always like that on mine.
It depends. If you don't mind the screw-ups Atomic Planet Entertainment did to games that were perfectly fine before, then it wasn't a waste. If, however, you wanted accurate ports, then you did waste money. I think the Xbox version I bought was a waste, because APE ruined the games. But other people might not care as much as I do.
Well, I DO have Megaman 8 for PSX...but it's not like I can find Megaman 7 for SNES. That game's probably rare and expensive, much like another certain game...*coughEarthboundcough*
Yeah, if Mega Man Anniversary Collection is the only way you are able to play certain Mega Man games, then I guess it would be worth it. Now that I think of it, maybe MMAC was worth buying (in my opinion) for the two arcade games on the collection. Everything else I'd rather emulate or download on the Wii's virtual console (the three that are available, that is).
megaman 7 goes for about 40 dollars, i have 3 copies one that has never been opened goes for about 140, and one with the box and instruction goes for about 80. dont get me started on the cost to obtain earthbound
However, I must confess: a lot of these themes sound rockin' in 8-bit, and, should these guys ever get around to releasing that game, I might just have to play it. :)
...all that remains, I suppose, is Megaman and bass(there's six RM's left to use, invent two new ones and you're golden). :)
they should make a MM8 8bit they already made MM7 8bit and theres MM9 so why not. the sled sequence in Frost Man and Dr. Wily stage 1 is so god dam annoying!!!
What the heck? "Storywise", X6 was "impossible", but they still did it (as I'm sure you know, X5 was the last "original team" X game, and was meant to lead directly into the Zero series). And Command Mission occurs after X8, so clearly, a precedent has already been set for X9. As for Zero 5, jeez, it's not like he hasn't come back to life before... =p
I didn't refute the 8-bit MM7. All there is for an 8-bit MM8 is a soundtrack.
And it's *delegation*, not laziness. Why would I look for something when I can get you to do it? :3
Anyway, my original point is that *this video* doesn't represent an 8-bit remake of MM8. And it doesn't. It's just music and sprite art. That's not even close to a demo. I don't know, or care, whether a remake exists; *this video* doesn't represent one.
I really can't decide what my favorite boss theme is in the NES arrangements.
Tengu Man? Grenade Man? Search Man?
By the way, some of these boss graphics are great, some not so great. Grenade Man is spot on, along with a Frost Man graphic I've seen. Tengu Man and the Aquaman graphics look off, though.
However, I'm sure there's quite a bit to go before the NES PC Version of Megaman 8 is done (likely 2009).
I doubt an english version will arise, as its exact text used in the SNES versions, I doubt any changes in text are present which would require an english version to be made.
Actually, an English translation patch could resolve the problem. Also, for us here in America, it should be called "Mega Man" in the title screen, not Rock Man.

Could you add Frost Man too?
In any case, great video! Did you make the 8-bit versions yourself?
