  • mount horeb has money....

  • I don't know what that was but I just came.....

  • This thing is fucking amazing!

  • This truck was one of the best trucks there. It was a multipurpose engine that had 2000gallons of water on it with a 2000gpm pump. It had extrication tools, axes, fans, saws, multi-gas detectors, ladders, a folding tank, and sat a 5 person working crew inside. So for you people that think its overdoing it, it may be but it served a purpose. @caseihmagnum93 he wasn't over paid, he was underpaid. He was never away from the fire department for more than a day and didnt take a raise for 10 years

  • EVERY ONE WHO IS INSULTING THIS DEPARTMENT, ITS TRUCKS, AND PERSONNEL YOU NEED TO WATCH - Chuck Himsel "Never Alone" - w.youtube.com/watch?v=qSX9eFP8Xis --- This is the guy who made Mount Horeb Fire Department what it is, and also the fire service around the nation. Insult this station and you insult him..... Keep you comments to yourself if your gonna be a dick! Thanks..

  • wow.....that looks stupid. Why would you need something that big?? Talk about Overkill.

  • The truck is a peterbilt

  • Oh yeah! Nothing but the best for Mount Horeb. The tax payers are generous. You should see the remodeled and custom painted nostalgia truck they have... Everything chrome, custom painted and gold leaf numbered and lettered. They truly show responsibility when spending the local tax payers money. The population of Mount Horeb is 7009 people.

  • @BikerBry Actually no... MOST of the money put into the trucks is out of the (RIP) Ex-Chief's pocket. And along with Mount Horeb city limits MHFD also covers the largest area in Dane County (WI).. So ya there rigs are big and the good thing for that is that they are ready for ANYTHING with all the stuff they can fit! So the little bit of money tax payers put in we are happy to do it!... Please watch this and youll understand-- youtube.com/watch?v=qSX9eFP8Xis

  • @caseihmagnum93 link doesnt work- just search - Chuck Himsel "Never Alone"

  • @caseihmagnum93 No thanks... I lived in Mount Horeb and paid my taxes, when they started wasting money on those fucking round abouts... I was done! MH City Council wastes more more money than any small town I have ever seen.

  • @BikerBry Right i agree with that one... but the fire department doesn't use much from taxes especially for the trucks they were all built and tricked out from mostly Chuck's pocket. Respect him and what HE has done with this department or keep your dam fingers off the keys. THANKS!

  • @caseihmagnum93 Yeah... I watched it... what is that supposed to mean to me? What does that prove? He was a dedicated Fire Chief... doesn't mean he get whatever he wanted at the taxpayers expense. AND if he died with that kind of extra cash to donate, how much money were the taxpayers paying him? Sorry... not buying it. This Fire Department is WAY over budget and the equipment and special paint are a waste of money. Chuck Hinsel might be great to "somebody", but he doesn't mean anything to me.

  • @BikerBry You can think what you want, one thing that is slightly mentioned in that video is his money went to the trucks and the department making things look cool, Taxpayers money went to keeping the department running electricity, water, the Basics..Just trust me when i say that cause I worked there when he was chief he was and still is an idol and if you are not in the fire service than ya you wouldn't know him. But if your a firefighter (it doesn't matter where) shame on you.

  • @BikerBry so to sum this up for you- his money bought what he wanted, thats the reason they got big fancy trucks (also bought with help from fundraisers)-- So quit disrespecting the department for something they cant help. They cant help that when he left this world he left Mt. Horeb with big fancy tricked out fire trucks! Taxpayers money goes to what the station NEEDS not what the firefighters want.

  • holy shit your cities budget for fire fighting gear must be massive!

  • fukin hell , how many fire fighters does that thing hold ?

  • It looks like behind engine 4 there is another one just like it. Good god.

  • @ceblack100 Yup I dont remember which ones which but one is called Pete and one is called Re-pete. E4 as shown and E2 behind. Im just gonna say thanks for not criticizing to much. This department has history and dedication behind every rig it has thanks to (RIP) Chuck Himsel, Ex-Chief of MHFD. and well know around the nation. Look up his name on youtube and find a documentary about him and why he did what he did to MHFD.

  • Americans...............................

  • Thats a fire truck?!?!? O_o O_O daaaaaaamn what would u use that truck 4? :-/

  • dam if u need something that big for a fire u need to go home my staion runs about 600 a year and we had 16 working fires, all we have is a engine, tanker that holds 3,000 gallons, and a f350 squad. and specing out a truck this thursday no need for eqipment that big just bring in mutal aid or also know here in lancaster pa buddie boxes so u have like 3 engines and 2 tanker on the street if u need them, them trucks wouldent get around where im at.

  • will that go to a medical aid cause i cant imagine that in my front yard if i need it

  • Cool!! Wish our department had one of those!!!:)

  • stangest truck i hav ever seen

  • That's not an engine, that's a big rig

  • Wow!! How many calls do you guys run annually.... maybe 1000! Not only are they a waste of money but they aren't practical at all. Look at the FDNY, they do MUCH more with MUCH less!!!

  • Comment removed

  • bahhh ive seen smaller trucks then that ant!!! lolz great rig!!!

  • bitch bitch bitch.... nobody cares about your opinions if its practical or not, the size of the truck ect.... The fact is these guys have an outstanding rig that will last for years

  • @gsarjos "nobody cares [...] if its practical or not" Well I think you will care when you live in a small street and this big vehicle doesn't manage the turn, or at least not as fast as a smaller engine. The Munich Fire Department and some normal size rescue truck, last year they bought 58 new rescue trucks which are smaller than the old ones. Because of narrow city streets and heavy traffic. Now they arrive on scene much faster

  • It's a pumper/tanker on a commercial chassis...I think it's very practical for the area that Mt. Horeb covers. Also equipment like this does wonders for ISO ratings which are very important. Use the money available to get great equipment and lower your rating or get basic equipment and tell your residents that they can keep paying high homeowner's insurance. What would you do? As for the bells and whistles...that's, simple put, PRIDE.

  • @5roder5 so what if u have more bells and whistles that means u have more ff pride then other departments u dont need the extra shit it shouldnt matter. being a firefighter is not about looking good its about saving lives and protecting your community

  • @Firefighter72BG They have the resources to protect the community and to look good doing it. Also I never said that they needed the extras on the truck in order to have pride in their department...it's just one way for them to show it. As for getting into small areas for incident scenes they have a third pumper for that. Just enjoy the video because their trucks are sexy and don't hate on them for having beautiful equipment and keeping it that way.

  • Are you freaking serious.... WTH are they thinking... see its people and departments like that that makes the fire service look crazy especially volunteers... THAT is SERIOUS over kill on everything they have in station and a waste of state and im sure federal tax dollars that could go to a department that would be happy for a basic pumper or rescue not a super-man version is it bullet and radon proof also... I mean seriously

  • look up there company site. Letting people ride on top of the ladder truck.. not sure how safe that is lol. And one of there Ambulances is basically a mini rescue truck. I think these guys are more for show then performance.

  • @timberland1108 to that ambulance looking like a mini rescue truck: Got similar ones also in Germany. Here these ambulances aren't used for normal patients but for the really really fat ones.

But all in all I think the same: Their trucks are more for show that for easy and quik use

  • impressive

  • That thing is UGLY.... but i like it!!

  • Jesus, I want to see it driving code 3 trough NYC lol

  • These trucks are practical since Mount Horeb is a small town..

  • @Spartan0189 Even though mount horeb is small, the surrounding rural area that they cover is big, and the trucks are all big because they are built to carry a lot of water. And when it comes to pulling all that weight these peterbilts will last forever. They are built more for work then a custom fire chassis. You dont haul a trailer full of dirt with a toyota prius

  • Only in Mt Horeb

  • That is one bad ass engine

  • upon further research...it does have a cat C15...open them pipes!!!!!! engine 2 with its 3406 would like the same treatment

  • that is awesome! 1) hopefully it has a cat...2) it needs some 8" loud pipes...that, gentlemen, is a large car =)

  • u guys have the best rigs ever

  • absolutly NO chance to use these monsters here in germany.i think their turn radius can not pass only 1 traffic cross here...:-) is this a volunteer or a professian departmend ??

  • @Dorni2405 Aber geil ausschauen tun sie schon, oder? ;))

  • Its a combination department with six payed people and yes they have lots of bells and whistles but they are the best!!!!!

  • @Dorni2405 voly

  • Comment removed

  • All i can say it is alittle over kill. Try turning that beast around when you hit a dead end. But its Very nice i would love to have that engine. But i hope your guys training funds dont suffer because all the moneys but into Fancy rigs!

  • @drewpers101 That's why you just flip on the lights, and back right up to the entrance you came. ;)

  • my opinion is that they should have gone with a standard cab-over. That setup looks like it has a turn radius of about a mile.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm sure some other local VFD's would be glad to receive some of that money that was wasted on the excessive emergency warning system.

  • i wish my local fd had that much money

  • that's a helluva engine!!

  • Every piece of apparatus in this department is overkill....bigtime. Seems like you guys care to much about what your department's apparatus looks like instead of caring about what your job is.

  • @NeverRestOneDayx I do agree that the trucks are a bit overkill. Id rather have some smaller apparatus but they are a great department. They do the job and they do it well. I guarantee they have more pride then half the departments in this state put together and one way they show it off is with their trucks. I cant say i know all about this department, but as far as i know i havent heard of them having trouble with getting their trucks around because they are to big.

  • @NeverRestOneDayx ever heard of pride well the show it damn good id say.

  • @firefighterhorne There is a difference between having pride in your department and apparatus and overkill.

  • @firefighterhorne There's pride and then there's just obsessive wasteful overkill !!

  • @NeverRestOneDayx what's wrong with that?

  • Optimus on steroids

  • It takes them that long to get around 1 corner... I hope if your house is on fire and they have to turn alot of Corners they can hurry up and get around them.

  • Comment removed

  • what a waste here!1 Q is enough you wackers!!!!!!get a simple truck to do the job....

  • merciful money mismanagement!!

  • ......wow

  • HOLY WASTE OF MONEY, BATMAN!!!

  • It's a beautiful truck/engine but its seems too large and possibly to expensive, idk though i have heard that engines put on a conventional truck body's are cheaper then custom cabs like we more commonly see so maybe it was an appropriate use of money, I know in my city it could never be used as I doubt it could weave in and out of traffic and make turns on our tight streets, our engines are 2/3 the length of this engine, maybe shorter

  • I can't explain the feeling I get when I look at these trucks. We are struggling to keep our 26 year old rigs on the road.We are litterally using bubble gum, band aids and rust to keep out trucks together. We are amazed everytime our rig starts. We are using everything to keep out trucks going. We even kicked in,out of our own money,to add more lights on our rigs so we don't get nailed by cars and trucks. And all we hear from the town is we don't have money. This is needless.

  • @wannabenj I'm sorry to hear that, I know a lot of departments in New Jersey are hurting for funds and volunteers, personally i think the best solution would be to regionalize fire departments, unfortunately that may lead to eliminating fire companies that may overlap or are too close to each other right now but are in different towns, however some towns have their own fire departments/companies and the towns are really to small to justify the need for their own companies rather then share

  • @cmd062 my department has five companies, 4 engine companies and a ladder company plus 2 paid engines, the department covers 24 square miles and has a nightime population of 110,000 i think we will see in the next 5-10 years a reduction from 7 firehouses to 3 as they condense firehouses/companies to reduce costs and due to a lack of volunteers, its a sad thought but if i'm still around it could mean better equipment purchased more frequently, a new engine every 10 years instead of 30-40

  • beautiful rig what state are you in

  • if your in a burring house your going to complain , or if the ambulance shows you will want a smaller one,, noobes

  • three words WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!

  • gunnlover just saying I don't think that would for in a city lol it's huge

  • overkill....i can see the need for this in a big city like chicago or st louis or Cincinnati but not a small Wisconsin town. their finance dept needs audited for misuse of funds

  • @gunnlover Actually this truck isnt designed for a big city. Its designed to hold more water for fires in a rural setting rather than in a city where hydrants would be near by.

  • why cant my station get a beast like that

  • I take my engine and 1500 gallons of water and get places they only wish they could a big engine for what and the rescue what a waste of lights way to many

  • wow

  • From what i've seen, Mount Horeb goes too far with their engines. Is there a competition for the biggest engines in Wisconsin?

  • wow nice engine that is amazing an r.i.p brother

  • R.I.P. Chief Himsel

M.H.F.D. vary nice tribute th the chief.

  • darn... old beacon rays, led lightbars, dual q's, 4 peterbilt horns on the roof... DAMN!!

  • @firemike550 And thats not the only one. They have a second peterbilt just like it. they call them pete and re-pete. Awesome department the have there.

    R.I.P. Chuck

  • RIP Chief Himsel

  • never seen anything like that.

  • this thing is so ugly

  • that's different lol its sweet looking though.

  • Not gonna lie thats one of the sickest engines I've ever seen.

  • Mt. Horeb always seems to have the nicest rigs. Damn, I wish Black Earth repainted their trucks!

  • i would like to have that as my p.o.v.!

  • got to love the tax money and new rig wish we had something like that up here

  • look, 2 Q'S!!!

  • thats taken the piss

  • peterbilt all the way and the hand lines are inside one of the compartments fefdexplorer47 thats why there twin to this truck and there other pumpers have that stuff on it

  • Holy crap that's a sweet ride. It must be nice to have a ton of tax payer dollars.

  • Not gonna lie, that thing did get going pretty quick coming off that corner. I'd say they are pretty quick.

  • i dont think people think at all. why do people question about getting this. i have a felling they got this beast because of lack of hydrants and more to carry water for a fast attack with out worrying about running out of water in about 3 mins to maybe 5-10 mins

  • That, is a beautiful engine.

  • holy crap you want to get there quick not in style granted its a nice truck and can carry more equipment than needed not fast and monuverable

  • the dept probably does no more than 1000 or so runs a year, but have more bells, whistles, lights, Q's, and paint on their engines than the entire city Madison, WI...

Nice to look at, but is there a line that you can cross? These "Engines" cant be quick, agile, easy to use, or practical...

  • Comment removed

  • that may look nice and all but that truck is crap there is no hand lines on the side of the truck.... so if you pull up to a working house fire on the porch your not going to get a good knock down becaue its going to take forever to get water to it!!! i saw no five inch on the bag of the rig!!!!! its to big to get in small streets or if there was a brush fire it is to heavy. nice looking but thats it!

  • There are handlines. It looks like maybe 3 of them. They're low, behind the front doors and exhaust. The rear is covered by a roll-up door. Search for Mount Horeb Fire Department on the Google and look it up. They also have a Brush truck. I'm sure they thought their needs (street size, number of brush fires, amount/type of off-road terrain) before buying a large vehicle.

  • @FEFDExplorer47 - engines never respond to brush fires, thats what duece and a halves and 5 tons are for!!!

  • sweet trucks

  • Well first of all we would call forestry and let them handle it and 2. you couldnt get that thing to a forest fire it's too damn heavy. 3. I didnt see any hose on it at all so do they have a second truck just for hose? It's just very impractical looks good in the station and in show but not on a scene. Just my opinion.

  • You're not looking hard enough. Handlines under the cab (behind exhaust), supply line and intakes in the rear are covered by a roll-up door. They also have a brush.

  • Whoa..Thats a really big Truck, did I see a second truck just like it in the backround? The Department must have quite abit of money!! I wish my hometown department would buy new equipment instead of using stuff from the '80s and '90s...They just bought a new Ladder and Engine and put them in the Central station, instead of the giving them to the station that needs them. But GOOD video, ignore the hate, there just ealous!!.. Where is Mount Horeb?

  • This department has very nice LOOKING pieces, but I don't know how practical they. There are videos of their Rescue and Squad on YouTube and they're both ENORMOUS. I dont know anything about Mount Horeb, or where it is, or specifics about their response area, but they must have BUCKETS of money. I hope their units function as well on-scene as they do in parades. STAY SAFE!

  • How many calls does this department get a year?

My runs about 750 ( No EMS)

  • wow lol.. thats one big a** apparatus! interesting color scheme too, different, pretty cool.

  • What the..........

  • holy crap that thing is huuuuge

  • it looks like hell

  • These are the kind of engines you can get when you sell *space* brownies at your FD bake sales : )

  • LOL! Actually their muster each year has died. Every year less and less people showed up. I am not sure, but I heard this year they were not even going to have one.

  • I thought fire engines were red....

  • Can you say overkill? I understand how it is nice to have new equipment, but a town of 6000 people does not need two engines like this and two rescues, one of which is massive and has 4 Q sirens. Also, look up this department's website. They have a picture of a suv with two LED lightbars. Why? Your money could go to prevention or fire education or something.

  • well our city of about 3000 peolpe just bought 3 new engines, two with 12000 liters of water and foam, and one with 5000 liters

  • cool.....

  • they have 3 engines and two ambos ( hme and international) and there squad

  • your absolutely right. i went to the website myself and could not believe it. it's pointless. why would you even need that many Qs.

  • WAIT! They have a piece of apparatus with FOUR Qs?

  • it is huge

  • that's what she said

  • That is one odd looking fire engine. Nice tho.

  • Not my favourite layout, but a beauty truck nonetheless!

  • That thing has one of the most loaded front bumpers I've ever seen.... TWO QS AND TWO SPEAKERS!!!! Not to mention FOUR MARS 888 Lights! Almost too much, atleast there aren't any rotorays. But the two old beacon rays on the cab look cool contrasted with the strobe lightbar behind them.

  • HOT

  • Do they really need that much water? Seriously.

  • Haha, if you knew how much GPM it put out, and how much it takes to put out a fire, you'd understand.

  • Uh, look at my profile. If i knew how much water it takes to put out a fire? You'd be surprised how little water it takes to put out a fire. Unless it's a fully involved house then about 500 gallons will put anything out. Shit I've put out fires that are rolling over the ceiling with a water extinguisher. If you know what ure doing you don't need a whole lot.

  • someone got money

  • And thats not their only one! They have another one just like it. They call the twin peterbuilts, pete and re-pete! Its one hell of a department!

  • That thing is bad ass!

  • dang that is a different design for a engine

  • that thing covers two time zones, damn!!

  • I wonder whats the maintenance bill on this beast. And whats the need for a truck this size?

  • it looks cool.

  • coolest truck ever

  • that truck is huge

  • coool i live in wisconsin

  • thats like the town of tewksbury has 6,000 ppls in it it has a brand new rigs the city of lowell with over 200,000-290,000 ppls are just barely keeping there fleet at least after the 80's

  • This is actually outrageously ridiculous. Someone here said there were only 6000 people living in this town??

  • Their website says 13,000 in a response area of 132 sq. mi

  • @tillugoaway Correct. I live in the neighboring town.

  • What a 'spoiled' FD

  • These are not even practical. What a waste of money. There are departments out there struggling to even purchase basic equipment and here is one with equipment that is not even based in reality. One of their engines has 4 q sirens on it.

  • @nightterrors1 acctually its 2 speakers ad 2 qs but still ridiculous

  • is this the mount horeb in wisconsin or some other state?

  • It is Mt. Horeb Wi

  • WHAT THE HELL LOL

  • rykember11, actually nightterrors is right, one engine had 4 Q sirens on it. I think they would have put more if they had the room.

  • If you want to pick on the truck with 4 Q's At least get your facts right. Its is a squad with two real Q's and two electric Q's on it. It also has a 1000 gallon tank with a rear mounted pump. We use it as a heavy rescue. It also carries a crew of six. I'm glad you have time to worry about my department. Thanks for the all the comments both good and bad. All of you should come and see for yourself my department before you jude off of this site.

  • So 2 + 2=4, right? Hmmm, do they teach math up there in your little hick town?

I have never worried about your little town. My only opinion is that it must be nice to have so much money to piss away on overkill. That was my only point. Seeing how only 1 out of 5 comments is positive, it is easy to assume most people agree.

  • You are a true dumb ass to not move out of the way when this thing is responding to a call!!

  • That thing is GINORMIS!
