Magneto is a beautiful character because he fights for what is right without playing the stupid political games that Xavier resigns himself to. Although they're both striving to reach the same goals (equality--for mutants), Magneto doesn't sit down and -wait- for things to come to fruition... He reaches for it actively, even if a couple of humans and pacifist mutants get in the way.
Whether or not he's a villain is simply in the eye of the beholder. :)
Could Magneto be considered an anti-hero? he may be willing to kill for his cause, but I don't think he looks forward to it, if it weren't for his bitterness and rage, he'd be one of the greatest of the X-Men! (He was even their LEADER at one point!)
Astounding. Absolutely astounding! This is a great way of looking at Magneto--instead of laying down and allowing the Holocaust to happen again, he's (in his mind) preventing it! A good take on a unique villain.

Thanks for the comment. Magneto is my favorite villain because of his deep history and complex character. He is also insanely powerful.
