Having gone through the Nashville flood and living just a few miles from the Opera House this made me tear up. To see what it was like during and after the flood and that devastation then to see this. Wow.
@MrBig: Don't you worry darlin' - there is an army of folks who appreciate how important this was.....seeing the Ryman was my priority the first time I ever was in Nashville about 15 years ago. Havin' listened to the Opry broadcasts from the early 70's on AM (only way to get them in MD at the time like NASCAR), I could just about see the ghosts of those I'd grew up on. When the floods came, I was heartbroken - this was ever so important simply for the footsteps that crossed it.
Very nice video. I often wonder though if the Opry will make it to 100 . . . seems that the powers that be are trying hard to kill it. Too many Taylor Swifts and FAR, FAR TOO FEW Jimmy Dickens. Let's get back to our roots. There's a ton of amateur, unknown, REAL country singers out there . . . give them their chance on the greatest stage of all. That's how the legend began.
@pikindboogies You are so right !! I am so tired of people with so little talent(Taylor Swift) being shoved on the folks out here. I am fortunate to live in an area with stellar musicians everywhere. The trouble is,they don't always look the part,Sad!!
As for myself and the goal I have set. I will one day stand on that very circle where so many others have before and I will share the country music world who I am
I was listening in to this live on wsm via the net yesterday and now very glad to see video of this here and it's so wonderful to know that the opry house is reopening very soon. I've been to the opry 3 times and each time you still get that first time being there feeling it's just an amazing place and I hope the opry never dissapears.
I feel blessed to have had the chance to be in that circle myself. Twenty two years ago my high school band played at the Opry house and it was an honor that my chair sat right in the middle of that hisotic circle.
I was there for the International Moose Convention in July. Its good to see that circle of wood and to know the Grand 'Ol Opry house will be re-opening soon
The question on everyone's mind is will the circle still be unbroken?

Those of you who don't know much about country music or the Grand Ole Opry have no idea what this means to us in Nashville.
