  • You know adding that much coffee will make you fat and black.

  • What a waste of coffee, also nice going on the temp control of your water. It was cold by the time finally put it in. Why bother with the stupid thermometer? Lame video.

  • He has Starbucks coffee... lost all respect.

  • this is such a slow and boring video. he didnt even make the coffee all that well (whats with the pyrex jug, awful stirring technique etc) lame

  • what was that? seven scoops!?

  • I just laughed so hard I thought I might wake my husband up... upstairs with the door closed. The video was good, the comments are exceptional! You guys really made my day! Thanks.

  • I scoop per six ounces. You put in enough for a quart and a half. In case your nerves are shot you will know why.

  • is it just me or did this guy using a tiny measuring spoon hahah. damn he went back in that bag 200 timesh haha

  • Comment removed

  • that looks yummy :)

  • Lol. this guy is funny... and educational!

  • The best thing about this video? -The comments!!

  • I want this coffee press so badly

  • This is hilarious. Well done.

  • Good video but I think I will stick with my drip coffee maker and Folger Black Silk coffee.

  • What a lameass, buying Starbucks brand. And I'm not a fan of Bodums, they have plastic parts that wear out over time and leech toxins into the food. Get an all stainless steel press if you're reading this.

  • 4:00 LOL

  • That was A LOT of coffee!!!

  • @bery79 If you like piss then yes if not then no.

  • By using the "chopstick " gives it that wonderful oriental flavor. By using half the bag of coffee assures that you will be awake for a full three days. By the creepy look you gave the camera we can only assume your Moms is not home and fully "unaware" you are "creepin 'round the crib".

  • @bc78260 This comment just helped my day out...thanks, LOL

  • You spent more time waving that wand than Harry Potter.

    Coffeebitterous-redikulas!

  • That was the best Gangsta' MacGyver Coffee Press Video I have ever seen! :)

  • Coal miners would think this coffee is too strong.

  • I just bought a plunger this arvo. Now, I know how to use it - thanks. One thing the shop assistant told me to do was; warm the glass plunger just before using it. Well off I go to make a nice cup of plunger coffee... Jen

  • You're a funny dude. Nice!

  • dude u used "8" freakin spoons of coffee omg u must not wanna ever go to sleep. do u add sugar or cream/

  • I like the music, it gives the impression there is a crime or something.

I like the look on your face 4:01 to 4:11.

I am buying one of these press cups.

  • haha should have just poured the water in the bag of coffee

  • why's the background music is so DANGEROUS ! ? ?

  • This is the slowest, annoyest and most maddening video ive ever seen to make a cup of coffee...

  • If you like a rich, full bodied cup of coffee, then French Roast in the French press is the way to go.

  • i just tried to make coffee with a packet. i thought i was gonna die because of the awful taste. it says pour, add hot water. and stir. i did that and it was just ugh. someone tell me what should i add along with hot water

  • why would you use a 90 BPM soundtrack here? I think I need to throw up

  • Wow that looks great...super strong..!

  • ah, so many things. among them: you measure water temp...then pour into a pyrex (which isn't heat-proof btw)...you're losing so much temp. just boil, wait 30-40 seconds, then pour from kettle. eyeball it, or just a scale if you wanta get geek.y

  • I thought coffee grains were to be tiny chunks, not ground up for french press. Also, you put enough for like 20 cups

  • ok im not very knowledgable when it comes to coffee and stuff but after youre finished are you supposed to add sugar or milk? or is pre grinded coffee already with those ingredients?

  • @lsdman14 No coffee comes with sugar and milk in the mix. It's only ground up coffee beans. Sugar and milk are personal preference and most people that take coffee serious enough to use this method drink it black or with only a small amount of sugar or milk. ;)

  • @lsdman14 It's personal preference whether sugar or milk is added. Pre grinded coffee does not have those ingrediants

  • what!? starbucks coffee.. already ground!? THIS VIDEO ISN'T SERIOUS ENOUGH!

  • Santa just brought me my first ever coffee press and an electric kettle too!!!! your video is awesome man. Your video - while very serious indeed - was also very funny. Thanks for putting this together for us rookies and wanna be bwana be's!

  • Excellent video . . . .gets to the point! Thank you!

  • that must be the strongest coffee ever.....your ratio is lagging water, i think

  • nice vid :)

  • I like the way you approached this video, it was informative AND entertaining without dialog. Your expression in the one spot came out of nowhere and made me laugh. Thanks bud!

  • whats with the pencil

  • yeah thumbs down. seeya.

  • Pretty expensive stuff for coffee...Just buy a coffee maker for $20 and use ground beans from lavazza or illy.

  • That music kinda makes me afraid of coffee now.

  • Your facial expression at 4:10 had me shitting bricks I was laughing so hard.

  • that much coffee at that strength is seriously bad for your cardiovascular system.

  • EWW pre-ground coffee

  • Comment removed

  • it seems strong coffee

    that's was helpful..

    thanx

  • @jmool85 He didn't fill up all the way so It was maybe a bit over a liter he made or so(this press holds 1.5 liter) and 8 7gr scoops of coffee(the Bodum scoop holds 7gr of coffee) makes 56g of coffee and in my opinion it's a piss. I personally use 75g of coffee per liter of water and nobody in my family has yet complained about it.

  • @klarinetta for me that's too much coz i like it lil bit light . bt ya some ppl prefer strong coffee.

  • how many sugars and creams do you use and what falvor coffee is that and what does it tase like?

  • what sort of grind u use? and is the background music off a porno?!

  • you lost me at your skin color

  • Thanks for the up load. Got my first french press and followed your directions. Perfect coffee!!!!

  • Here is a suggestion I read from someone else's video on here. After you pour the hot water over the grounds, set a saucer on top and brew for 3.5 minutes. Remove the saucer and use a couple tablespoons to remove as many of the grounds from the top before plunging. This allows the plunger to go down more easily AND reduces the grounds that the remaining cups of coffee will be standing in -- helps stop the continued brewing.

  • Thanks. The onyl rouble I find with the plunger is it can sometimes cool down too much while you are waiting for it to steep. I have thought about buying a warming mat.

  • Awesome vid, great production quality. You like your coffee STRONG my friend!

  • holy shit thats hella coffee thats an over dose of caffeine

  • ew, way too much coffee!

  • OO! You like your coffee strong...and so do I. Yum!

  • after finishing it can we pour more water into it to make more coffee or would we have to throw out the coffee beans and put more in?

  • Greetings coffee nerds. If you haven't got it by now, the purpose of the video was all about style and not technique. The description has the technique laid out for a reason. The video was for entertainment. Some of the comments here are hilarious. :)

  • Hi there,

since you seem to do great job with a french press, i wanted to ask you a question which bugs me for quite some time now.

I'm using the same french press model and each morning i manually grind coffee beans. However each time i pour my coffee, i've always got some remaining coffe powder in my mug. That's pretty annoying, because even if the coffe is tasty, the last sips are a pain...

What can i possibly do wrong in the last steps to get that problem ?

    thx

  • Just made my first batch of pressed coffee. Im sold...

  • While well intentioned, is not one I would follow for making french press coffee.

Don't use Starbucks, if you want amazing coffee check Philz coffee. Tesora their house blend I guarantee blows Starbucks out of the water

The stirring is fine, you don't need a thermometer seeing as how the teakettle started singing when the temp hit 200

Also, don't buy Bonjour double wall press, they're great but offer no replacements on that carafe and they break easily. FYI, nothing to do with this video.

  • today was my first day to make french press coffee- i didn't stir it at all before i put the top on, i think i'm going to try that next time because turned out a little weak for me

  • everything perfect but the starbucks coffe.. iac!!! let me know your p.o. box, i will send you a first quality organic coffe from the mixe mountain of oaxaca, mexico

  • Thanks for posting this vid. I recently purchased one of the Bodum presses. Just out of curiosity, what sort of stirrer was the one you used and where might I find one? Thanks.

  • I'm not sure why I hate you, but I do.

  • microwaves cause cancer, this dude is using it as a timer

  • Bwana - like your style buddy...but starbucks? lol Jamaican Blue Mountain or Kona java is the way to go! Expensive, I know but your taste buds will thank you for it! Also, try getting the beans and grinding them coarsely right before making the java..

  • The seasonal Starbucks stuff isn't too bad for the price.

But yeah the French Roast/Italian roast are disguisting.

I've tried em all...they are all just over roasted because they want consistency I suppose....

But yah try to buy from a local roaster if possible, you might be paying for an extra dollar or so but better (HOPEFULLY) quality.

    -Former Starbucks employee

  • Crazy... THANK YOU!!!

  • LOL dude, that was hilarious with the music, you made my day, 5 freakin' stars.

  • dude that is far far far too much coffee going in that pot. fail

  • Some of readers questions are answered if u read the info he gives beside this video. He did have the beans ground specifically for French press, stirred using a chopstick. I use a French Press, love it!

  • didn't make it past 15 seconds, 1 star, too freakin slow and boring

  • I just read some of the other comments! Wow, these people are d****! It's just coffee!

  • Thanks so much Bwana. I just moved into a new apartment and the public items included a coffee press. I had never seen one in my life and my coffeemaker is still in storage. Your demonstration has changed me forever! Thanks so much Brah! DC saying hey!

  • Way to much coffee man, but i guess that is the way you like it. I have that same press and i only use three scoops. Anything more then that is way to strong for me. You should name this "how to make a strong cup of nasty coffee from star bucks.

  • I'm sorry but this is a video of how NOT to make french press coffee. I was rather amused by the whole ordeal though.

  • how can this video have 4 stars?!

  • Stopped watching when I saw 'Starbucks'. Fuck off.

  • Ha.... I have the exact same microwave

  • Were you stirring the coffee with a pencil?

  • wow, that was a stupid video. He didn't even grind his own beans and he stirred like it was actually going to do something to improve the coffee.

  • I don't think you stirred it enough. Jeez. It's a foamy black whirlpool of bitterness.

  • the stupid top is in the way. i can't see how much coffee ur putting in there.

  • mmmm, stale coffee

  • If your going to use a thermometer make sure the coffee is prepared before. use fresh beans and grind them as needed. (costco's Kirkland red and green bags is the same Starbucks coffee you are usind but far less expensive). Do not stirr your coffee imidiately after pouring the water, wait about a minute (less bitterness of in the coffee) and after stiring wait another 3 minutes before infusing. Try this and youll taste the great starbucks smokyness flavour with less biterness.

  • Holy crap that video was the slowest, most annoying thing of all time. Did you have the "scooping coffee" footage on an infinite loop? I never thought it would end.

  • @roswell42 word

  • @roswell42 I know, Is it me or is the WAY to much coffee?

  • I don't think I've ever seen a more annoying video.

Who stirs their coffee for that long. That was basically steeping for five minutes. And no store-bought-pre-grinded coffee is going to suffice for French Press coffee.

Wow. I wouldn't recommend this video to anyone wanting to know how to make French Press coffee.

  • where did you got that ONEIDA from?

  • Holy shit...leave that coffee alone...what did it ever do to you. I know it is starbucks but it still does not deserve to be treated like that.

  • Good Lord man, get yourself some locally roasted beans and a grinder.

  • You speak the gospel truth...order yourself some Inteligentsia or some 49th paralell. It is a shame that he puts so much effort to make coffee that is doomed from the start. Starbucks is not bad coffee but this guy must find some fresh coffee if he want s to make anything that is "great"

  • holy mackeral..that's some serious "leaded" jo..

  • hooray! now i know how to properly make coffee in a french press! i didn't know the water should be just below boiling. thanks! and p.s. i NEED A BWANA MUG! how do i get one of those?!? i love your videos!

  • Now for clean up... look at Tambaroo

  • way to much coffee for that much water...other than besides not grinding the coffee beans your self..... good vid.

  • This looks really rich. Thanks!

  • Thanks for the vid. I bought a french press, and was using it wrong. This video helped a lot. Now I have good coffee. I can't thank you enough.

  • oh send us a mug i want one to drink ma coffee outta BTW cheers for teachin me how to use a french press i always mess up lol

  • French press rocks, especially the chocolaty textured results. I love this scientific approach. You have great taste! Thanks for sharing man!!!

  • u must love this stuff man...thanks...all the best

  • thanks a lot for the video dude, you must def be a super coffee freak, i am too but im mostly into espresso :)

  • This video was not only educational for a new French press owner, but it made me smile! Thanks!

  • OMG 8 scoops of coffee!? Holy crap, I wouldn't sleep for a week!

  • Theres a few things you can do to make it taste bettar. (If you want your coffee to taste the best possible)

    1. Don't use starbucks coffee beans (Buy at a local roasting place, or order green coffee beans online and roast them at home)

    2. Grind the beans immediately before you make the coffee (Literally, grind, put in press, dump water.)

    3. dump the initial water slowly, slowly covering the grounds, you will get lots of 'bloom' (Foam), once fully saturated, just dump in the rest of the water.

  • @jscix

Don't ever pour the water straight on the coffee, let it flow via the side of the glass recepient. Also, never stir! Just put the pusher in, leave it to rest for a minute or two and gently press down.

  • You looked so happy making that coffee, well done!

  • My press doesn't seem to do a good job of filtering. Is that because I have a cheap press, or is there a trick?

  • Serious Business requires Serious Coffee

  • I don't know if I could be so serious about my coffee. Serious coffee should still be fun and approaching the task as if you're performing volumetric analysis takes all the enjoyment out of it. You boil the water, you grind the beans in your own burr grinder, you chat with your friend whilst it's steeping. Perhaps you rummage in the cupboard for a sweet snack to serve with it.

Coffee celebrates the simple joys of life. I couldn't be so anal about it.

  • You can get a grinder for 10-30 bucks. Freshly ground coffee is way better. Then cruise your local coffee houses, most sell awesome whole beans. Nice video.

  • overstirred and too many scoops ffs

  • I like the style of this video. Serious coffee is serious.

  • Thanks. Nice to see people who realize what I'm doing here.

  • @flibber123 Serious coffee starts with fresh roasted coffee beans(3-15 days from roast) and quality burr grinder!!!!!!!!

  • I agree with the Starbucks comment. They over roast their beens. You also used pre ground coffee!!! Boooooo

  • 1. while you were dumping waaaay too much coffee into the press, your water probably cooled to an improper 180.

    2. You brewed your coffee for an extra 1:30 while stirring it.

    3. Were you making coffee of something to strip the varnish off a foot locker?

  • What the hell are you doing? absolutely crap coffee. That is.

  • You lost me at starbucks coffee

  • @bazzmx I agree Starbuck's coffee taste's like it was roasted with a Bessemer Furnace while melting pig iron. I also use hot water to warm my mug and pot. Before I stared drinking my coffee Black I use to warm my cream to keep my coffee hot longer. Why add 40 degree cream to 190 degree coffee. All it small glass to put you cream in and small bowl to put hot water in.

  • Hypnotic AND informative.

  • i love the french press. ive got a cheap one, and i dont stir the coffee before resting, but its still the best coffee ive ever had.

  • U are doing it rong m8,

After filling it with water and stearing it and making it rest for the 4 minuts, u should but in rest of the water, and REMOVE the foam on top sins that is what tast shitty. then u will make coffey like the pro's

  • does this make the coffee healthier for you?

  • no. actually it doesn't.

  • you like your coffee very black.... makes my mouth water:)

  • If you do decide to buy a burr grinder, try the capresso infinity. They are under $100 and give a pretty consistent coarse grind. Alternatively have your local shop grind the beans (coarse). Otherwise the sludge is unbearable.

  • Why are you stirring so much? Do you think the grounds are going to dissolve or something? This video should be renamed to "My first attempt at using a French press" so as to not turn prospective coffee drinkers away from such a wonderful beverage.

To anybody watching this video in order to learn how to make coffee, DO NOT brew 8 (!) scoops of coffee to the amount of water he used. French presses are best used to make coffee, not to congeal tar.

  • Thanks for watching!

  • so.. how many scoops? ahha soo it was for that my coffe had that shitty taste

  • I agree about Re-naming the video. ;o)

  • Great vid. Thats a lot of coffee you put in at around 1:30!

  • i want to meet u

  • wow dude

learn about coffee... I mean LMAO

  • listen man if you can't appreciate the video then don't even bother commenting. I look forward to trying this method, but first iv got to get a french press...

  • Thanks for watching!

  • Great coffee making method, horrible choice in coffee. Buy a good burr grinder, get some good whole beans, grind beans to proper consistency for press coffee.

  • Nice video, very well done. - I am just learning about these...

  • Get a bigger scooper.

  • Finally someone who gets it. That scoop is really really small. 1 scoop for every 4 oz of coffee. I think I do need a bigger scoop.

  • Wow. He empties a quarter pound of coffee powder into the damn thing !! Stimulating Starbucks' stocks.

  • coffee paste! LOLL!!

  • Dude!

    pre-ground stale coffee.

    Buy a grinder.

  • should grind only what you will brew. 70% of it gone after opening the bag. tsk tsk tsk

  • hey man thanx but whats with the background music? so scary

  • you drinking starbucks and its a recession ... now thats one bad mother*****

  • hey thanks man...I just made an incredible cup of brew because of you....thanks

  • Mesmerizing! I've been investigating the perfect coffee press coffee and everyone has a different way. And they are all passionate about THEIR way! Shouldn't the beans be freshly ground to a coarse grind? This coffee looked good though. Nice and strong. Thanks for the lesson. Very sexy!

  • lol, nice vid! Im becoming a coffee addict to recently

  • Few mistakes besides the coffee being store bought, ground..

    1. once you're at 201 you wanna have all them coffee already in your press

    2. Pour the water as soon as it reaches 201

    3. don't have to waste your time on mixing with that chopstick forever, just have a few stirs and immediately put the press's lid on, then wait 4 minutes before you press it.

    Cheers.

  • I agree and gave you a thumbs up, but just because this is the internet, you don't have to say cheers

  • Why bother getting the tempurature to exactly 201 to then leave it on the bench for 2 minutes!?

  • i was thinking the same thing

  • That's how I make my coffee! Awesome video as always

  • lol you look wired go to sleep
