The problem with Brit Hume's comments is the same problem with all religious preaching. Hume is imploring someone to accept what he believes, but he isn't giving any logical reason for doing so. His comments amount to: "Well, my faith made me feel better about my son's loss, so God must be real."
If you want to believe in Christianity, that's great, and maybe you have a great reason for doing so. But if you're going to tell me that I should believe it too, you'll have to do better.
Committing suicide is a Sin in select Christian faiths. A. SIN. . . and you actively CHOSE to turn to Christianity?! According to your Pope, your son is condemned to Hell. . . I just don't get it. You speak so highly of a faith that cast your poor son's soul into the twisted trees of Hell. I hope you find peace, Mr. Hume. I honestly HONESTLY do. But do NOT judge a faith/belief you know little to nothing about.
@industry26 Really, this isn't true. The Catholic Church says that you cannot repent from suicide (because, you know, you're dead), but it does not say that God cannot forgive. However, the official catechism of the church says: "We should not despair of the eternal salvation of persons who have taken their own lives. By ways known to him alone, God can provide the opportunity for salutary repentance. The Church prays for persons who have taken their own lives."
what i hate most from people that are Christian they always try to talk people into converting to Christianity. i mean shit let people do their own thing they believe what they wanna believe.
i dont know how many time i slaming the doors on them people who knock on my door askin me and tellin me about Christianity.
Christ is the only way of salvation...He does not merely hover in space...he became man and dwelt among us (John 1:14) lived a sinless live of compassion and miraculous works - died in love to take my punishment and satisfy the justice that you and I deserve and then rose...if you wish to call it myth, tell that to the Jerusalem Church that was in existance shortly after His death...He has risen and offers His love to you in the form of a satisfaction of your punishment. Repent and trust in Him
This is what Christianity is about...risking life, career, reputation for the sake of others and for truth. Christianity defies survival of the "fittest" for when so many Christians "die" for their faith, God raises up others and more in number.
Many Christian celebrities have found that adultery actually can bolster a career. Check out the youtube videos for gospel singer Michael English. He's cashing in big time on it. Or, if you wish, you can, of course, "buy the book."
Wow, how clever! The brighest man ever! Feel his words!! If Buda were alive, he would surely love his words! Way to go Hume. Let's all listen to you more! lol
For the latest on fundamentalist Christian forgiveness and wisdom see the new statement by Christian minister Pat Robertson on YouTube, who feels god is punishing Haiti for a Pact to the Devil that some slaves made 200 years ago. Duhh??? :

These fundamentalists are really crazy & scary. (Palin also believes she's chosen. Duhh?)
So this schmuck wants Tiger Woods to pretend there's a magical, invisible man hovering in space so he can feel better about his infidelity?
What a complete loser. What he's saying is "Whenever there's a problem, revert to child-like thinking and invent an imaginary friend to make it ALL better." Shame on him for commenting on something that's NONE of his business. Tiger's famous - famous men have lots of sexual opportunities, sex is hard to refuse - it's really JUST that simple.
@lq32 , A cheap price? hardly-when you consider 10% of your income and an offering above that is what religious authorities what you to toss in the offering plate each week!

The Pope doesn't represent Christianity. The RCC is a man made religion. What Brit is reffering to is straight out of the Bibe

Britt Hume is a troubled man! Wasn't he the guy who ended up with a divorce due to cheating on his 1st wife?

Doesn't regret his comments?
What's to regret? What the haters don't like is the fact that christians are speaking their mind more and more.
I guess they have right's too - go figure.
Get used to it.
