i was torn between the sout and the guide for the purpose of setting it up like a ground shelter. the guide does not have a middle grommet lengthwise. it has a grommet every 1/4 the length. but i like how it makes a bombproof hammock fly. way better then the hex fly because it has doors.
Great video, I have the scout tarp but it may be to small to use it over a hammock. Question: are you running the longer or the shorter of the two sides along the ridgeline?
@PRESTONDAWS yes, the guide tarp is plenty big. I ran the longer ends along the ridgeline. I haven't had a chance to experiment with different configurations. I just got back from a 2 night hang where we had mostly wind to deal with. I was very impressed how well it performed and room I had once inside with all my gear.
ive been looking to pick one of these tarps up but they only have 4 grommets lengthwise, i am looking for a 9X12 tarp that has a center grommet so i can string it up as an external pole pyramid shelter.
@Tancrad the tarp I have seems to be a bit different from the version some of the other guys got last year. Not sure if manufacturing varied that much. Now there is a cordura loop off center that MEC says that you can use for other setups. Will have to try if it can do a pyramid.
The link to the tarp doesnt go.
