I have to say that there are lots more Khmer buildings in Thailand; for example, in Sra Kaew (I can't translate the name of the prasats in English) and I do think there might be at somewhere else but they might not be well-known as the buildings you stated.

I have to say that there are lots more Khmer buildings in Thailand; for example, in Sra Kaew (I can't translate the name of the prasats in English) and I do think there might be at somewhere else but they might not be well-known as the buildings you stated.

I think Mr.pollydor07 is quite right in that view. But may I add something. I found an article in the internet (it's not very reliable I have to say but just to give an alternative view). It said it is proved that Nanchao people have a closed relationship to Thais in the north of Thailand, I mean Lanna and Sukhothai BUT it also stated that the origin of the Thais in the central (Ayutthaya and Krung-Thep) cannot be confirmed.

The information there makes me interested, I have to agree. And therefore, I click at the CONTACT US link and found that the pages were written by an ordinary tourist which makes me doubt how reliable it is.

Thai speaking is from China, but Thai writing isn't Chinese.
Thai writing, Thai numerals are 100% Khmer. Why? Because Thais were Tai people from China running from the Mongol war and Khmer helped them that Thais had to use Khmer writing and Khmer numerals instead of Chinese who wiped out their Tai root and their Tai race.

dude the reason why thai can not read khmer writing is because back during the 12th or 13th century the thai started to change the khmer script into a new language with its own writing style. but it is true that thai did share identical writing to neighboring Cambodia. If you were to compare the numbers they are nearly identical and identical to the numbers in most dialects in india

You have your own Thai speaking always from China, but your Thai alphabets, Thai vowels and Thai numerals are not Chinese, they are Khmer and if Thais think of Khmer, Thailand would not sending troops to invade Cambodia because Thais and Khmers are considered like two brothers.
