Dwarfs in the Guards, what's the world coming to. Even the Drum Majors cannot bring their arms up straight. Bring back Sgt Major Brittain, Sad to say, but the Guards are not as well drilled as they were a few years ago.
@Crofterman2974 if you have a chance have a look at a site called britishpathe, there are priceless films of guards bands and ceremonial from the turn of the century /1920,s and 30,s the days true of pageantry..but the drum majors drill was very different .. by today very casual..the arm swing ,rolling the mace, u cant compare it to today at all.the DM ,S today make much more visual impact!..regards ..marty
@Marktsheppard Your Grandma has the hands if a bear? That certainly is worrying. If, on the other hand (pardon the pun), her hands are uncovered then perhaps replace bear with bare.
I saw your work was stolen and posted by another... HOW dare he ? I told me missuses--I know this camera angle--it's by W.S. and not the guy who posted..Then I saw your comment for it to be removed from You tube---
@Alamir34 I do believe it was explained in other posts. They're not just pretties...they're fighting men . so now you'll have to get hooked like the rest of us and learn from the Master.. All hail ..Windsorsoldiers..
Ok, in the last rank of the group at 1:31, someone is out of step. Then, at 1:37, you see the RSM coming up fast, someone is about to get an ammo boot in his arse. LOL.
@IC2720 Haha thats true. I always found drill relitavely easy. you can see that the poor sap is looking at the others and knows it too. He should know the tricks to quickly get in step. Should know how to march anyway...
PC Plod as you referred to is one of the better ones with campain medals on his chest. Is one for the Falklands? As a ex squady and police officer i would not hesitate to serve with him, cosidering some of the 'Plods' you get nowadays.
Well done again Windsor S. Enjoyed the march by the Scots guards. Bonnie Mary of Argyle, but don,t know the name of the march, perhaps someone out there might know.
The March played by The Band Of The Scots Guards is called "Stirling Castle" composed by Colonel James Howe a former Director Of Music. I was standing by the Barracks Gate when they came out and it was a terrific sound!
Seemed to be quite a few pacesticks on parade... I thought only the RSMs and the Garrison Sgt Maj. carried them on parade. What's the protocol for that?
There being no Welsh Guards on parade this year, you can see the Band of the Welsh Guards leading the Grenadier Guards in their 2 rank formation ready to get onto Horse Guards Parade.
Each drill sargeant to Warrant officer assigned to a detachment to make sure the troops in the detachment are alright carry their pacestick on parade because that is a part of their uniform and on parade, the protocol is to wear complete ceremonial. Hoped it helped.
Another great video! What camera are you using these days, WindsorS? (quality is very good, particularly the sound, which is usually rubbish on too many cameras!). I also like the way you keep a fixed shot most of the time and just let everything roll past, too many other people zoom in/out, look at the sky, their feet etc.... ;-)
I turned 21 today (on the 21st of september). I should have a parade like this!

The guy on point at 1:08 must be at least 6 Ft 11" and 280.
If he leaves the military he could always play for the NBA.

@MrDanmeyers did i ever say they werent fighting men? I just asked what rank he is, seriously wtf mate?
Alamir34 1 year ago
@Alamir34 He is the Drum Major leading the Grenadier Guards on parade.
The Drum Major is an NCO in charge of the Corps of Drums, but he leads the bands while on parade.
Normaly, but not nescessarily, he is an Warrant Officer.

The story is bullshit, as far as I know, no such thing happened.
I don't even think there are Muslims in the Brigade of Guards.
emptyangel 2 years ago
I heard that two muslims guarding the CROWN JEWELS were arrested for attempting to steal the jewels???
Ghost77Riders 2 years ago
I'm going to go ahead and call bullshit.
emptyangel 2 years ago
Bullshit. There was a flap over two Sikh soldiers guarding the crown jewels. Sikhs are not Muslims, and the soldiers served with pride and honor.

OK. Why is it that one (seen at 1:34) has a sword and the others (seen at around 1:40) don't wear swords? Irish Guards RSM maybe?
MorfeBD 2 years ago
OH! Silly me, the soldiers being led by the first band are the ones you see lining the length of The Mall.
You can tell because there is an officer leading every half-company.
Naturally, there will be more pace sticks on parade to help the RSM ensure that the street liners are equal distance from each other.
This being that I just realised that all the sergeant majors here are from the Grenadier Guards.
