I have a a Buick 55 but the nailhead was completely rusted out (it had been sitting in a water puddle for 10 years) so mine has a chevy 305 in it because my friend had wrecked his corvette and gave me his motor for 50 bucks (from my iPod)
wow look at all the haters on this site, its his car he can do what he wants with it,,if he fixes it up for himslef who cares,if hes fixing it up for re-sale then maybe i care..go cry somewhere else you fags ,just cuz you cant afford your own cars, dont shit on someone elses...doooshbags
Well if you wanted a Corvette with some whiz-bang stereo and mood lighting then buy a Corvette. There's no need to ruin a damn fine 55 Buick with all that crap!!!!! RESPECT THE CLASSICS!!!!!!!
Hay man he is respecting the classics. This another classic car that is on the road and not in a dumb rotting away. I think the important thing here is to try and keep as many of these old cars on the roads. It breaks my heart to see rows of classic cars sitting in junk yards.
Looks like you had the same idea as me, is that a homemade custom radio or somthing store bought? I always thought it'd be cool to take a modern radio and fit it in to case of the old one.
Nice! As for me, I would actually prefer to stick to original engines when it comes to older cars, but if I had to upgrade, I would. Or, I might make a custom out of it.
They say, "Buick's Selectronic Radio is an innovation in radio tuning and provides a simple method of station selection regardless of locality." Yes, they had a foot switch. My car had a Sonomatic - the cheaper Buick radio for 1955. Since the upgrades, I can now tune to YouTube.
Ditto, most cars after 1970s except some Caddies of the 80's and early 90s are disgusting. If you notice, cars now have a little bit of chrome at the back or front and the lights are often rounded giving the car a vintage appeal...but definitely not enough as I'd like. It seems there'd be a market for 50's and 60's style sedan cars...I dont know why they havent been making them, we saw the return of 60s and 70s style clothes...why not cars too?
As much as I love old cars, my dad had a 55 special when I was a kid. If you got into a crash, you would fly into the ALL METAL interior of the old car. They're very dangerous even in moderate accidents.
Does this have a cd player???

That is a very nice 55 special. The interior looks futuristic with the combo of 50's styling and modern features.
Stupid WMG ruined another you tube video.

Of course not. Read the feature article in November Rod & Custom to find out why. They have a web article, too.

You can't put a Corvette engine in a Buick and still call it a Buick. It just ain't right! It's an abomination! :)
jadestalon 3 years ago
Most people don't call it a Buick. The other day, some gal called it 'Frickin Sick'.
I guess that is good.

Beautiful car.where did you get that shifter at? I have a 56 super and would love that thing.
tripp68 3 years ago
That is custom made. It uses a Dakota Digital shift indicator unit.

nice,how was the insallation?
tripp68 3 years ago
Surgical. You have to drill out the Ididit indicator for room for the LEDs then route the wires through the column.

This how new cars should be made! Old fashioned bodies with up to date dashboard technology.
1947Desoto 4 years ago
i agree with that, i think the newer cars would be more appealing that way.

I call that the 'Safety Dash'. If you get into a crash, very little harm will come to the dashboard.
