  • What memories!!! Good to know they haven't been forgotten. They were REALLY good guys. When the local poser metal bands were as rude as could be, these guys couldn't have been nicer. I got to some Barry a bit (I did radio years back). Willis, Kenny & Louie (who if I recall a friend had been seeing him) were genuinely nice dudes!!! They opened some INCREDIBLE shows back in the day. Barry killed it with Trouble (who I knew a bit as well) and Louie w/ Ministry & MOD. "Leave that crack alone!"

  • AMAZING band !!

Amnesty and Life of Crime are underground classics!

  • Zoetrope and Slayer perhaps? Scotty G productions

  • kenny lives in hawaii.

  • I saw them open for Motorhead ath the Vic in 89'

one of the best metal shows ever

  • @assasinman117 I saw that. It was the loudest concert I can remember. Check out the new Motorhead as well. It shreds!

  • hahahah! Debbie and Nancy say hello from Baby J's day's!! We were your waitresses!

  • Anyone remember THE one original guitarist from the early days,I hung with him and we went to field school,Just babys in 4th grade,,NAME Richard Krouse, old school Zoetrope back when they would destroy the stage when they were done,,,,Mike!!!!!!

  • @mx423 hey mike its me richard krause/who are you? i am on face book i just recon

nected with willis after 35 years fill me in i am on face book....did you know the crew?

field school?....that was before stone and zoetrope....

  • Vittu kovaa! {finnish for f*cking hard}

  • This is WAY old school. Kenny left the band just after Amnesty was released (Louis Svitek took his place). This was one band I thought would get more credit than they did! Looking at the camera angle, I'd say this was done @ the Metro, 1985.

  • Correction. Kenny left after that tour although he still contributed "Unbridled Energy" on "Crime."

  • classic STREET METAL!!!! anyone remember when they did the White Pus concert? they all changed instruments, Kevin, Barry, Kenny, Calvin!!!!

  • Thanks for posting ! Awsome band ! Brings back some memories for sure!

  • I'd give an arm and a leg to see these guys live.Guess i never will.without Barry it wouldn't b the same anyways.Brilliant and superb band.

  • i don t know from live

  • Zoetrope.

I'm from the "hood".. Used to hang in the ally to hear them jamming many summer nights.

Stage dived many times at the metro when they would play. I never got thrown out either.

    Those were great times.

  • I've got a picture of Zoetrope playing my block party on the north side, circa 1982. They blew the neighborhood away. It was awesome.

  • You Chi town boys remember partyn' at theThirsty Whale????Miss those jammin metal days

  • thirst whale , I played there and i rmeber going to all the shows back then at all the clubs like the gateway avalon etc,, great scene back then

  • they are having a Thirsty whale reunion in october.

  • Back in the late 80's Kenny left and joined the band Aftermath.

  • kenny was in a band called "sharon tates baby" as well

    good stuff

  • YEAH! This is hardcore street metal! We need more!!

  • sad to hear about Barry..I got the life of crime lp one of my favs of all time...

    METAL FOREVER!!

  • Seen these guys a million times growing up in Chicago. Seems like they were the opening band for every show!!

  • This band was absolutely the shit. How they missed the big time I will never know...

  • barry died a few years back. complications from a hip surgery!

  • @kingfowley DUDE i can't believe barry died! so sad. my bro used to jam with them i think with another support band, but I knew them too...such a shame.

  • As an early fan of Combat records and early Metal Massacre bands, this was one band I wanted to see succeed the most.

While I live a thousand miles from Chicago and never got to see them live, I read what a great band they were on stage. And with a lead vocalist that was also the drummer that could not have been easy to do. Add to that a black bass player playing the second to last form of music you'd expect (country being #1) and still ripping it up big-time.

    Zoetrope rules. R.I.P. Barry.

  • I ran sound for these guys on this tour. What happened to Barry?

  • I auditioned for this band in the 80's ..I was in sweet poison and scatter... didint make the cut ...oh well

  • I know theres tons of Chicago Thrash Bootlegs out there.Get em outta bottom of your closet.

  • zeotrope fan from when they opend up for suicidal at eh riv in 89

  • my dad graduated from stone grammer school with barry and willy anybody remember those days?

  • Who was yur dad .('72 Stone grad) I remember the original Zoetrope-Willie was the first black dude in the hood, became the hardest rocker, with the best drummer/singer/metal band in the HOOD! those were the days of the original METAL .STREET metal ROCKED!! it was fresh .... so was I when I was young....... But so many good memories still !!.....Carys lounge with Barry, throwing barstraws in his har when he wasnt loooking was priceless,a millinoin laughs.Barry R.I.P. buddy

  • Is this the only video of them on Youtube? That's just wrong.

  • I was at this show and watching this clip made me smile the whole time. Kevin put up more clips! Street metal still lives!

  • whats the club is this?

  • My band, Riff Raff opened for Zoetrope twice. I don't know if this was one of thos shows but we went and saw them everytime we could and I totally recognize this as the Metro.

  • fuckin' awesome. King you are the man. cheers for this!!!!

  • in through your window a pair of big eyes watching u and your bitch make love fuck yeah saw them with trouble like 20 something years ago

  • Oh for the days of early Chicago Metal Scene when you could tell the real from the posers.
