What memories!!! Good to know they haven't been forgotten. They were REALLY good guys. When the local poser metal bands were as rude as could be, these guys couldn't have been nicer. I got to some Barry a bit (I did radio years back). Willis, Kenny & Louie (who if I recall a friend had been seeing him) were genuinely nice dudes!!! They opened some INCREDIBLE shows back in the day. Barry killed it with Trouble (who I knew a bit as well) and Louie w/ Ministry & MOD. "Leave that crack alone!"
Anyone remember THE one original guitarist from the early days,I hung with him and we went to field school,Just babys in 4th grade,,NAME Richard Krouse, old school Zoetrope back when they would destroy the stage when they were done,,,,Mike!!!!!!
This is WAY old school. Kenny left the band just after Amnesty was released (Louis Svitek took his place). This was one band I thought would get more credit than they did! Looking at the camera angle, I'd say this was done @ the Metro, 1985.
@kingfowley DUDE i can't believe barry died! so sad. my bro used to jam with them i think with another support band, but I knew them too...such a shame.
As an early fan of Combat records and early Metal Massacre bands, this was one band I wanted to see succeed the most.
While I live a thousand miles from Chicago and never got to see them live, I read what a great band they were on stage. And with a lead vocalist that was also the drummer that could not have been easy to do. Add to that a black bass player playing the second to last form of music you'd expect (country being #1) and still ripping it up big-time.
Who was yur dad .('72 Stone grad) I remember the original Zoetrope-Willie was the first black dude in the hood, became the hardest rocker, with the best drummer/singer/metal band in the HOOD! those were the days of the original METAL .STREET metal ROCKED!! it was fresh .... so was I when I was young....... But so many good memories still !!.....Carys lounge with Barry, throwing barstraws in his har when he wasnt loooking was priceless,a millinoin laughs.Barry R.I.P. buddy
My band, Riff Raff opened for Zoetrope twice. I don't know if this was one of thos shows but we went and saw them everytime we could and I totally recognize this as the Metro.

Zoetrope.
I'm from the "hood".. Used to hang in the ally to hear them jamming many summer nights.
Stage dived many times at the metro when they would play. I never got thrown out either.
Those were great times.

I've got a picture of Zoetrope playing my block party on the north side, circa 1982. They blew the neighborhood away. It was awesome.
