Did anyone else notice that one of the Gorgons turned a harpy into stone, killing it? I had no idea friendly fire was enabled for their gaze! :P

@MrLuk20000 You can only get 18 of each. The extras become red orbs once you get them all. They are there because sometimes people miss them, so it's extra chances to get them all.

This part reminds me of an episode of Xena: Warrior Princess, where Xena, Gabriell, Hercules, and Ioluas went to release Prometheus b/c all the fire was gone and no one could heal on their own and all wounds led to death.

BTW it was Heracles (Hercules) that released Prometheus from his torment at the request of Zeus himself, since Prometheus could aid Zeus with his gift of prophecy.

Zeus (poseidon and Hades as well) wanted to have a child with the very beautiful titanessTetis, mother of Achilles, but Prometheus warned Zeus that Tetis' son would be 'far greater than his father'... so Zeus let Heracles liberate Prometheus and gave Tetis in marriage to Peleus, king of Phtia and father of Achilles.

Prometheus gave fire to the humans, and Zeus punished him bu being chained on top of a mountain with an eagle eating his liver each day (that grew back at night since he was immortal).

Pandora was the first woman, given as wife to Epimetheus, the stupid bother of Prometheus. Zeus gave Epimetheus the box as a gift for the wedding and Pandora, foolishly, opened letting lose all the evil and suffering in the world.

@zarteen Gorgons did not reproduce. There were only THREE gorgons. Of the three only Medusa was mortal and the other two (Stheny and Euryale) could not be killed.

According to a myth, Medusa slept with Poseidon in Athena's temple and Athena punished her transforming her into a gorgon. Her two sister, who sided with Medusa, suffered the same punishment.

Athena decided to send Perseus to kill Medusa as a final punishment and Medusa's head was placed upon Athena's shield.

so he stole the fires of olympus and taught man how to use the gift. soon man began to advance beyond what the gods could have imagined. zeus was very angry. so prometheus was bound to the caucasus where acctually TWO vultures were to eat at his liver for all eternity. hope that helps. im a huge greek mythology lover :)

prometheus was acctually a young titan. no great admirer of zeus. one day he questioned why zeus didnt give man the gift of fire zeus grew tired of prometheus's constant questioning and he said "man is happy". but prometheus did not believe so.

wow that's some perveted shit in terms of mythology. In the real story, Heracles freed him and since Zeus condamned him to be chained to the mountain forever, Heracles made a ring out of Prometeus' Chains with a pice of stone for him...

but burning him works as well, i guess

@nanoman172 Skorch is incorrect. Prometheus USED to be a god. He created man out of clay (I think he had help from someone else but I'm not sure). When he saw his creations (man) on earth walking blindly, he gave them something that only the gods at the time had: fire. Zeus got all pissed off and condemned Prometheus to have his liver eaten by a raven in the morning, and at night be healed.

Considering that he gave man fire, it's rather ironic that he burnt to death.

Prometheus WAS immortal as he was a Titan, that is why the punishment was never-ending: the eagle ate his liver everyday... but because he was immortal Prometheus could not die and his liver grew back during the night.

Medusa is a Gorgon... so it's not entirely untrue.

Plus, there is a boss in this game that is much like Medusa, but not. You will see her later.

Herakles I believe is the Roman version of Hercules, and yes, it does bend the story a bit. But Kratos isn't real either, so... :P

Medusa is actually one of three gorgon sisters. The other two are Stheno and Euryale. It could have been one of the two remaining sisters.
