  • Aesop Rock...one of a kind....one of the best [Ryhmesayers]

  • Now with my trusty paperclip

I picked locks of thoughts vault

    Finding the garden barren

    The harvest fruitless

Only the Tree of Life flourishing

Wanting to take a bite but I'm toothless

Is that, predestination or is it by design?

  • illogic kills it.

  • I wish I could listen to this in my dreams, it'd certainly be a break from the nightmares!!

  • @TheRidllerXXThree buy inears and an ipod... :) and repeat one album ... u´ll sleep perfect

  • hes too amazing for words. lyrically ... i mean theres no words to describe it..

  • hhmmm sounds a lot different from any hip hop I've ever listened to its unique, but I honestly don't understand what the fuck hes saying most of the time

  • @tobtob180 His lyrics are so intricately detailed that after the first line is spit it is not uncommon to be completely lost. And his abstract use of language doesn’t help either, he alway does away with placing words in linear order, and often times uses words as he intends for them to mean, not how it was originally intended to be heard. And it would take all of the internet’s resources to follow each one of his references, whether it be an ancient Greek tragedy or an episode of Dragon Ball Z.

I'll see you embracing the pentagram within this crucifix disguise'

For what ever reason, this spoke volumes to me.

  • I was 12 when my brother played me Ace's music, I thought it sucked. Now, I refuse to listen to anything else. It's funny how tastes change. If only my friends thought the same...

  • @TomxLx93 the world needs plenty of bartenders...

  • @TomxLx93 - U "refuse to listen to........" u sound just like ur old self. lol

  • @TomxLx93 I'm doing the exact thing to my brother he's 11, trying to show him real music, especially hip-hop, it's going quite well. Coffee is his fave at the minute!!

  • IAN BAVITZ IS A FUCKING LIVING LEGEND!

  • my ears jizzed. twice.

  • ill shit rite here. illogic, aesop.

  • Why the fuck is he so good??

  • @thegreengorillafull because it isn't made for the radio!

  • aesop and illogic are the best thing to happen to eachother

  • "See when the canvas stands before me

I'm compelled to spill a vision

For the sinners that listen, I got three spikes and a thorned crowns"

  • "You can lead a man to a city but that don't assure civility

You can beat a man to death with Aesop Rock bootleg cd's

    (That's more fun anyway)"

    lol

  • doesnt get much fuckin better than aes

  • "Browning in melted ice to reinforce that breath is vital"

Pretty sure it should be "drowning in melted ice to reinforce that breath is vital"

  • this song is the motherfucking shit....

i just finished reading 1984 and i read that it had a line from it, it was awesome while i was taking a poo

  • @paleman4u when i read that line and realized it was from this i flipped

  • @paleman4u strange, I was listening to this song while reading a sumary of 1984, then saw this comment..

  • First time I listened to Aesop it was like my mind was enlightend

like wtf why I am just listening to this now

    truly epic stuff

  • i get illogic and slug from atmosphere mixed up all the time, they both have very similar voices and they both have the dopest lyrics around (along with aesop and mf doom)

  • @xxballsonweelsxx sage francis ftw. the others are dope too though. aes is my altime fav.

  • sounds like a good and a bad side of there voices illogic = good side aesop = bad side

  • Aes Rock is Beast !!!

  • to much for my brain to handle sometimes :O

  • i have listened to this cat (Aesop ) for close to 7 or 8 years, im 23 now with twin sons that r 3 years old and both of em absolutedly love this kind of music. Its hard 2 find some1 that shares the same views and ideologies that you have even harder to find an artist that sings about it.

  • My interpretation of this song: 1)Aesop lamenting about how doing good deeds makes you tired and deep down he is only an evil soul enacting his evil will, that's what the science of the matter dictates. 2) Illogic simply psycho-analyses Aesop. Great song.

  • Aesop's awesome and quite refreshing but his lyrics can sometimes be to hard to understand and people don't want to always sit and analyze music lol

  • @Bluejerra Umm... if you want music you don't have to analyze then don't listen to Aesop. There exist a host of artists for people just like you. Google "Top 40 Hits"

  • @bioLogickk First of all I'm a musician and I hate pop culture just as much as everyone else Just stating a fact that turns people off to indepth music. I never said he should sell out. So before you assume what kind of person I am bro, watch what you say.

  • @Bluejerra The fact that you call yourself a musician has no bearing on the facts. If you don't want to think when you listen to music, then DON'T LISTEN TO INTELLECTUALLY STIMULATING MUSIC. It's not rocket surgery, it's pure logic.

Also.. the phrase "I hate pop culture just as much as everyone else" is a complete contradiction. Think about what you just said (please set brain to the ON position first).

  • @bioLogickk Lol @ rocket surgery and you tell me to turn my brain on. I didn't say I don't personally listen to in depth music cause I do. I'm just saying that it's a shame that Aesop Rock is given such little credit for his creations. Anyway, you obviously don't understand what I'm talking about so Im done. Stop bein a hater. I didn't do anything to you.

  • @Bluejerra True

  • Blazed!

  • fucking sick

  • welllllp... this is the best thing ive ever heard.

  • SO SICK

  • first few lines are perfect.

  • This song is basically a compilation of raw quotables. sweet.

  • as are most aesop songs =P

  • such a good song because it feels like both artists are better than each other

  • lol, thats a cool thought, I second this.

  • Haha, well said.

  • yheahh

    god

  • @clitorisbombardeado

    precisely.

  • i had everybody at my school googling him when this albumn first came out which to my surprise everybody felt was dope and this track caught everybodies attention as the favorite track shot outs to the true elemental heads out there including aesop

  • I only knew like 2 or 3 kids in school who knew about Aesop lol.

Everybody was into 50 cent too much :(

  • two or three is a lot i only know one after my many years of searching

  • quit searching and expand others then. i already have 4 people i introduced to this music and they all fell in love with it.

  • this album should be dedicated to late 1800 american industrializtion, ode to the modern meat packer, lol

  • umbrellaseance greatest rapper alive aesop rock old teamamte youtube em

  • I thought the initial Illogic line went - "With my trusty paperclip I pick locks of thoughts, vault - finding the garden barren. The harvest fruitless..."

It makes makes more sense than "Finding the God in barren."

  • I really hate when I see fucked-up lyrics.

"For any action or lack thereof - there's a consequence."

  • that makes perfect sense, theirs a consequence for action and inaction

  • @ARCcommanderTalVerd

aesop old teammate umbrellaseance youtube em he is said to be the greatest rapper alive

  • @CorneliusMcGee You're right, I think it's "finding the garden barren" too. And the last verse says "For any action or lack thereof - there's a consequence."

  • what the hell is this guy talkin about in here?

  • Aesop is okay on this track but illogic is dope as fuck on this track.

  • Yea Illogic killed this shit.

  • people don't appreciate music that prokes thought. dope lyrics

  • illogic has the best verse on this song but that polar/middle value rainbows bit easily makes my top, uh, 17 hip hop lyrics of all time list

  • Whats ur number 1 lyric?

  • "god made dirt, and dirt'll bust ya ass!"

  • Who is that from?

  • Illogic + Aesop = magic

  • You can lead a man to a city but that don't assure civility

You can beat a man to death with Aesop Rock bootleg cd's

    (That's more fun anyway)

  • I start my city with a brick, and add another brick, brick by brick I manufacture homes for fallen angels, I ain't no great Samaritan that's just the way the game goes.

Respect the polars but acknowledge middle value rainbows.

  • one of the best songs i heard in a while

  • headphone music at its best.

  • its so well crafted how ilogic and ace's words overlap and biuld on top of each other, like the one brick concept.....to much

  • @nomadichence satisfaction

  • @nomadichence

Yeah, One Brick is an amazing song to begin with :)

and it was such an amazing feeling when I actually noticed the symmetry in the two "overlaps", the first time its illogic starting out louder than Aesop and they switch it in the middle. The second time its the other way around! =D

  • ILLogic makes this song... aesop is messiah and all but ILL MAKES this song

  • Now with my trusty paperclip

I picked locks of thoughts vault...sick line

  • 614k*

  • domt forget!!

  • the album is fuckin dope!!

man im like a die hard fan of aesop

and it grows every so often and this

dude is godly himself!! this is hiphop

  • gotta admit illogic was better on this song

  • i'd say its 50-50

  • fave Aesop tune

  • Its a shame someone cant appreciate the genius of ill.

  • Comment removed

  • i want dis instrumental

  • i love this song

  • i categorize this song as spiritual hiphop. the beat, the lyrics... it's something godly really

  • illogic totally stole the show...

And as society's fabric of orthodoxes dismantle / I'll see you embracing the pentagram within this crucifix disguise
