Can someone tell me what exactly is the demography of mauritania, what the moors and fulanis as in common compare to light skin or arabs people of mauritania? Any chance the dark skin get the power back? Thanks
Actually, the so-called "white" arabs are not white at all, they are simply light-skinned, AND they really are mixed with black themselves. They are not pure Arabs anymore. Their ancestors who came to north Africa 1,000 years ago were pure Arab, but they are no longer. They have black blood now.
It's astonishing to me that historically, the Mauritanian army has actually promoted democracy instead of creating a totalitarian regime run by military rule.
That fact alone actually makes me supportive of the recent coupe.
Yes, interestingly enough, the coup leader of the army actually stated, on al jazeera, that there exists a constitutional problem where too much power is vested into the executive, and effectively acts like a king, dictating when the legislative can and can't sit in session, this he stated needed to be changed. He also stated that the executive and affliated civil interests were actually demanding from international institutions to impose sanctions against mauritania, trully astonishing.
arabs hate us fulanis, they don't allow to occupy any security jobs like police officer, soldier etc. they claim that we're a threat.
who could forget "1989"?
we were executed, raped, expelled and our properties confiscated.
Those responsible were given amnesty in 2001-2003.
