Caught them this year at the Starlight in Waterloo...and it was one of the best concerts I have ever been too! And they just announced some new dates...go and see them!
@audiokitty Wow - I haven't thought about "Sam the Record Man", or "Cheapies" or "A&A Records" (which I thought was extremely overpriced) in ages. In Vancouver, there wasn't "Cheapies", but on 'record row' (Seymour Street), there was "A&B Records", which used to have REALLY good sales...
yeah right was in response to "virtualpopster"- doesn't your name say it all?- fuckin wannabe! These guys are my cousins, and Tom says "who the fuck?...
Thanks for your enlightening response. It smacks of ignorance. You'll find your research has let you down. This was a general comment made about the 5 years I worked at Abbey Road, including the sessions on this album.
Your apology for being rude, ignorant and a little hasty in your response is accepted.
I hope the Chinook winds thaw your cold veneer. I bet you're ok underneath it all. x
Regards, Ash (aka 'fuckin wannabe) - as we all are in one way or another.
My coworker back in the day opened up for these guys in the 90's and I got to go backstage. The one guitarist....not kevin...but the other one fed me grapes as I lay on his lap~
that sounds soooooooooooooo much like what a bunch of 90's Canadian shoe gazing rock stars would do. :) No coke, no whores, just an innocuous feeding session back stage.
Personally I loved this melancholic album in the 90s, but when i dated a girl that had the same love for it, it eventually destroyed me.
These songs could easily be mistaken as being recent releases. I think there is a true talent with the Grapes of Wrath that was understated when they arrived on the scene around the early 90s. Furthermore, they were a class act and if you listen to their albums, you have to search hard for even one banal track.
WICKED. These guys were the BEST. I spent my LIFE savings on a Rickenbacker 360 after watching this video.. In fact that's probably why I couldn't afford University, and I'm a better man for it.
God, I LOVE THIS SONG. I always did. SO sexy, good romp song- (T. Hooper you are HOT call me) Added it to my favorites about a year ago and just tonight opened an account so I can comment- anyone want to correspond? I'm a nubie and not sure how to go about it, maybe someone could help, but I'd love to talk music with anyone, male or female- I'm PARTICULARLY fond of OASIS. .
Oh my god yes. These guys were so good. I was too young to appreciate them back in their prime. Thank god for stumbling back over things you haven't heard in a million years.
I saw these guys live in Oakville back in the summer of 1992 I believe... they were very tight (meaning that they played well). It was not long after that they had split up...
The Grapes of Wrath were outstanding. This song is around 20 years old and sounds just as current as some the top Indie bands today. I like Beatlesque groups and the GOW are among the best.
These guys, and this album in particular, got me through a really tough time. Just found it randomly and bought it without listening. Just seem to call to me...
Probably in the top 3 world's most underated music group, timeless stuff for sure. Saw them in a windstorm at UVIC in September 1992, still performed awesomely. A real treat!
As much as I like the Grapes of Wrath. There's alot more good underated bands found here in Canada than you think. I really don't wanna list all of them.
i got this cd pretty hard to find now bought it a flea market its awesome their acoustic and piano music are pretty insane I couldnt any guitar pro tabs of them someone help me
Absolutely the most under-appreciated bands of the 80's, perhaps of all time. Artists just don't make this type of music anymore, and it's a crying shame.
Wicked good, for a long time...............
