I watched this film about 2 weeks ago when it was shown on filmfour, i got home pissed and high and put the TV on and this was just starting, i'd never heard of it before but i just watched it. I couldn't figure out if the acting was awful or brilliant. I couldn't understand why the tall acress was so fucked up when the film kept showing us their past, did she just smoke alot of weed? I cried at this film because i just felt so sorry for the smaller girl, she was so weak and it made me so sad.
RIP Katrin Cartlidge. This is one of my favourite films. The acting is utterly superb. Katrin Cartlidge was gifted with a comic timing and screen presence that lifted this movie to great heights. Mike Leigh is one helluva director.

i will ask my friend to buy me this film for my 65th. just to look and see these fine actors and director, doing what they should do. Move and shift us into a realaity that is not reality, but a place where heaven dwells with or without us.

Almost immpossile to watch.
The smaller girl. Better. Pain though. Yet heart lifting.

Mark Benton was fantastic! It´s a miracle of a film with a wonderful cast, an unsung director, good music, just a happy sad slice of life.
Thanks for uploading this part of it, bittersweet and so real.
