Rickman totally upstages Costner...and looks delectable in that black outfit while kicking Costner's ass. He would have made a brilliant Robin Hood - Costner had me falling asleep.
@HaloTowerPower2000 Alan was brought up by a Catholic (Irish) father (who died from cancer when he was 8 years old) & a Methodist (Welsh) mother. So, although both are of the 'Christian' faith, it must have been a little confusing for him & his three siblings! I get the impression that he rather keeps clear of religion these days (it certainly appears that he is not a practising Catholic), although maybe he still has some kind of affinity as he played an angel (The Metatron) in the film Dogma!
This was a great interview. I loved every answer - Alan is smart, humble and very tactful when talking about others, especially Kevin. That can't be easy when Alan's talent is so rich that every scene he is in gets better, simply due to his presence in it.
He's not typical Hollywood handsome - he's a darker, more compelling sort of handsome, which I prefer anyway.
Do not bad mouth Kevin. He's a gentleman and shows good sportsmanship during the filming. did you not see him and Rickman smiling at each other and being friendly? That's what commaraderie is all about. Most of you have no clue what that is. Rickman was a superb sheriff. Kevin was dashing and handsome and I love this movie. Kevin especially.
how dare they stop it right when he's talkibg! i love u alan! ur a good actor abd a good looking man.ur voice is so manly and ur awesome! im the biggest fan u will ever have!
i love alan with his hair like that! i love u!!!!!! plus, i like ur DEEP STRONG MANLY VOICE!!!!! ♥ !!!! ur acxent is awesome! (how ever u spell that) I AM THE BIGGEST FAN U WILL EVER HAVE!!!!
@HaloTowerPower2000 Hmm.. I think the word you're looking for is accent. P.S.- I beg to differ with you. I am his biggest fan. Have been since Die Hard. Ha Ha. ( I guess many of us feel that way.)
*dies at intro expressions* He's arrogant, brilliant<---, has a goddamn awesome smile, has a goddamn awesome voice, confident, and actually doesn't care about idiots. God, how sweet. xP ;P
@IsisLaZingara The real crime to me, was the fact that there were alot of American actors who could have done a very good job of playing that part. I think Michael Biehn, or even Robert DeNiro could have done a much better job than Mr. Costner.
He already has stolen the show in Harry Potter! But ejeevika is right, if he had started playing Snape at this age then he would have been unstoppable.
yes, modest and very genuine. Magnetic actor. Every time I watch this film I think: what a pity that he didn't win. Alan makes us support "bad" sheriff. it's wierd.
Alan should have played as Robin Hood instead of the sheriff, if any of you guys remember that little scene where hood is taking a little shower under the waterfall.I would've really enjoyed seeing alan's cute little butt in that scene if he played as Robin.
@SnapesGal Alan Rickman does actually have a nude scene in Dark Harbor. Go watch it, it's and EXCELLENT movie. But then again, when is Alan not excellent?
Alan is ever the gentleman, and does not bad mouth Costner although Costner did a pretty nasty thing to him by having his scenes cut. Alan made this movie.
@tinseltownchick There is an interview from some years back in which the interviewer brought up that subject and asked questions regarding Costner. Alan would not say anything derogatory about Costner. Costner was jealous of Alan. He was intimidated by Alan's acting abilities and supposedly threw a tantrum (for lack of better word at hand) and demanded that some of Alan's scenes be cut.
@babeofelvis omg wow he's such a BITCH. costner had no right doing that since he wasnt the movie's director or writer or producer or nothing. i cant believe they gave in to costner's demands.
@tinseltownchick Being an American actor, he knew the studio personnel. He was friends with the director and producer, and the tantrum he threw filtered down from the director and producer into the editing room. Sucks, doesn't it. Poor Alan didn't know what had happened until he sat down in the theatre for the premiere and began noticing that scenes were missing. I'll see if I can find that interview and share it with you. It's been a long time since I read it.
@babeofelvis oh so he knew the producer and director...of course, THAT explains it. any maybe I did saw the interview because I saw one interview where he kept being asked about stuff, like they wanted him to bad mouth kevin costner but he didnt, he just said that when he sat down to watch the movie he said "oh this was cut, and this and this". costner is an ass. gosh i dont think i could ever make a movie not knowing if my favorite scene is gonna make it.
Hehe I was around 11 or 12 when I first saw this movie and I was so in love with Christian Slater that I absolutely hated the sheriff and never bothered to find out who played him. It took me almost 10 years to "rediscover" Alan Rickman. And not he's one of my most favorite actors. He can incredibly charming but also very disgusting in his movies. One of the most versatile actors I know.
As for Kevin I think he made a great Robin Hood. But ridiculous he wanted Alan's scenes to be cut *lol*
@MastersRomana absolutely! I don't have a crush on him nowadays but I did when I was younger. anyone remember an odd movie he did with sean connery where they were monks? can not remember the title.
I can't believe I didn't really notice at first that this is the only Robin Hood movie I've seen where there is no Prince John. But who would want someone to take away from Alan's face time? And who else in this film could have been so scary when he speaks in a calm voice and so funny when he yells?
HE is so lying about KEvin in the end. Lets face it Kevin Costner was a poor Robin Hood. Very boring. Alan is so nice. He never says a bad word about his fellow actors.
@Skoyer he was great and when he says to robin that he will cut his heart out with a spoon I thought gross and probably pretty painful because it would be quite slow and so deliberate. eww.
Rickman totally upstages Costner...and looks delectable in that black outfit while kicking Costner's ass. He would have made a brilliant Robin Hood - Costner had me falling asleep.

Costner was a terrible Robin Hood. A lamp post could have done a better job. The lamp post would be taller and have more emotional range.

Robin Hood should NEVER, EVER again be played by an American. Nothing against the americans, I just think Robin should remain British.

@4turrold5 I agree, though I would've liked it better with a british actor XD. Still, didn't like Mr. Costner's characterization of Robin Hood.

Of course an Englishman should have played Robin Hood, but these days we have English actors playing Yankees and vice versa, go figure.
