  • A mighty flag-bearer for dirty Australian rock. One of the best gigs I've ever seen was the Beasts at the Big Day Out a few years back. They closed the show after a brilliant set by the Stooges with Ron Asheton on guitar. The Beasts played heaps of tracks off The Low Road, us lowlife drunken scum shouting along every track. Hard, loud and fun fun fun.

  • In so many ways - lyrics, tune/melody, rythym, arrangement, vocal performance, musicianship - for an Australian heavy rockin' song, this song does it as well as ANY! EVER!!

  • Best Beasts gig was their support for Iggy at Selinas - Tumbleweed, then Beasts, then Iggy, then his encore with half of G'nR who were in town for the Eastern Creek show at the time. Awesome : )

  • kaleidoscope was never so much fun

  • Can't remember now if it was 91 or 92...., but....... don't know where u were...... but Nirvana were there at the Sydney only BDO..... they played in The Hordern.......i'm pretty sure that to this day, they still hold the Oz record for the most stage dives at that concert. ..... They really did headline with The Femmes...... maybe you were in the toilet for an extended time when they were on.

  • Hellair chaps! Now, pay attention everybody, Flipping genius. And buy some Onyas too. Oh, and pea fritters. x

  • surely there would be a more appropriate course to take when trying to export souvenirs from Asia? what sort of trinket was it? carved temple? ouch

  • @seanhmilleable Probably a rubber full of smack...

  • @TfunkTV that's how they did it,a looong time ago

  • @seanhmilleable it's called "banking" as in you bank the gear up your arse (pays to be a chick sometimes). Handy for smaller quantities ;)

  • Certainly don't make rock bands like this anymore. Dirty smoking beer and sweat drenched rock. The way it should be

  • @morningchaps You're thinking of the Sydney only BDO in 92. Nirvana didnt headline, the Violent Femmes did. I know because I was there.

  • I remember an interview that Henry Rollins did where he said that he watched the Beasts at the '90 or '91 Big Day Out. He was standing offstage with the boys from Nirvana -who were headlining after the Beasts- and he reckons that they were white as a sheet. Watching the Beasts of Bourbon & knowing that THAT was the act they had to follow absolutely scared the shit out of them.

  • This band (and affiliates) brought life to my world!

  • Tex really can look like evil incarnate. Suits the subject matter really.

    Excellent band. Love those guitars...

  • Better than any grunge song that was released at the time

  • EXCELLENT!

  • Get outta here! This is almost 20 years old.. Man, where'd the time go?

  • @3djes I've no idea,if you find it send it back

  • The greatest concert I ever went to was the Beasts of Bourbon at the Coogee Bay Hotel when they supported PIL. PIL were useless, but the Beasts got the room pumping!!! Long Live The Beats Of Bourbon!!!!

  • enough energy to power a small town

  • Hard to believe Tex has now incarnated as a "ladyboy", gotta love his versatility....

  • Take away Kim Salmon and the whole song dies. Kim=More talent than Tex.

  • @Dubiousjohnny

I don't think anyone has stated Kim sucks on this thread or any other. Beasts were a band, a very good band, which normally means a greater sum than its parts. As usual the lead singer stands out, just let it go dude, it's embarrassing.

  • I feel all dirty now... I'd better go have a shower

  • it's got me fucked how young cunts listen to that emo shit when there is pure unadulterated rock albums out there like the low road long live the beasts

  • makes guns and roses look like a day out at a catholic church fete...

  • Thankyou Beasts for bringing the rock

Thankyou ROWYCO for bringing it to the masses

  • this is flat out one of the best albums ever

  • i agree. i am 35 and bought this album when it came out. i was about 18 and me and my mated loved it. still love it now. hands down one of the best rock records EVER.

  • Too right. I saw these guys at the 1993BDO (the last that I attended) i nthe Horden. They kicked everyone else's arses. The next week I saw them at a dingy pub in Wollongong and they rock just the same. Wow!

  • I heard they're supporting Spandau Ballet soon.

  • theres not to many new bands that have evolved music but still kept their attitude behind the sound. doesn't matter weather you sing perfect picth or slighty flat. if your not feeling what you saying it'll never work. these guys are the roots

  • Fucking sensational album this is the lead track off, "The Low Road".

An album that sounds so filthy and sleazy you'll need to take a shower after listening to it!!!

  • modern bands take note:

This is how ya freakin do it!

  • yeah, that's the thing!
