  • Wonderful harmonies---none sing like this anymore, that's for sure.

  • @windstorm1000

    No more.

  • Certainly one of the most clever and catchy arrangements in pop history--and sung with smooth sexiness by the Lettermen. The 60's was truly the golden age of pop song. People don't know how to write songs like this anymore--more's the pity for we the listening audience that is for sure!!!

  • @windstorm1000

I agree, and there's no more good music onto these days, sad!

  • Este video me recordo hace algunos años cuando escuchaba esta cancion en Universal Stereo, buena música, buenos tiempos...

  • Salamat!

  • @MannyLalo

    Walang anuman.

  • i'm now a fan of lettermen. =) very nice voices and music.

  • @tinlexi

    Welcome to the club.

  • Oh how I loved the sixties music! Anybody know if they recorded "Once Upon a Time"??

  • @CarMarkids

Yes, they recorded it and I like that tune.

  • @CarMarkids

Yes, they recorded it and if I have time I'll post it for you in my new channel.

  • It's not a medley, it's a mashup

  • @Darckmat

    Yeah, you're right!

  • OMG thank u sooooooooooooooo much ...its amazing

  • @lisa3932

    Truely amazing indeed.

  • @lisa3932

Amazingly express by three talented voice who knows their music.

  • i love this song..

  • @shangie5979

    We love the song.

  • @shangie5979

    Both of us do.

  • Excellent blending. Thank you for sharing.

  • @mrkeh

    My pleasure.

  • I've always understood it to be the beginning of Gary's time with the group. But, i don't know for sure.

  • The perfect blending of two tunes by the Lettermen.

  • @mus691

Perfect mashup of two differents love songs only the Lettermen can give.

  • super love the lettermen....

  • We Love The Lettermen!

  • i love the lettermen

  • Where was this performed/recorded?

  • @StanBennet

    At Capitol Records, sir.

  • I guess only The Lettermen know for sure.

  • Did Bob sing on this song or not? I know it was recorded for the "Live" LP, which he was a part of. But I've read things recently to suggest that it was Gary on this song and not Bob. Maybe it was both? Very confusing since it was around the transition period. The only ones I can hear for sure are Jim and Tony.

  • @ArchSupporter

It's Gary's first hits with The Lettermen I think.

  • Can't Take is co-written by Bob Gaudio from "The Four Seasons".

Goin Out was originally recorded by Little Anthony and the Imperials.

  • Goin' out of my head!!

  • @kanalog

    I think so, kanalog!

  • I think it's hilarious that youtube promotes a Lettermen playlist over on the right and the 'cover' video is a dead video they've shut down ! ! ! ! My 550 playlists include ones for 330 artists, I replace the dead vids periodically, & my Lettermen list means just LETTERMEN - 50 songs worth!

  • @chkjns

True Lettermen fan indeed. I salute you for that.

  • @jundayo55 I just learned Perry Botkin,Jr was the arranger on this, I'm a Botkin fan, too!!!! Perry was AMAZING during the 1960s, arranging music for two TOTALLY different audiences a generation apart, this stuff for the kids and lush instrumentals for their parents. He should be a LEGEND! Chuck

  • @chkjns

Thanks for all of the info! My pleasure to know the roots of the song!

  • Fell in love with my wife during the late 60's listening to the Lettermen. After 40 years still I'm married to my beautiful wife and still have the Lettermen album..........

  • @Tkwarner11

She might be the most beautiful girl you have ever known,Tkwarner11.

  • This has got to be my favourite...thanks for the post!

  • @Chattee41

Welcome, Chattee41. Enjoy the piece of their greatest song.

  • Saw them in concert in Indiana last night....they only get better....I was in second row...center stage....Mark even said something funny to me.....I am on cloud nine today....

  • @Suzi64grad

Nice of you to have have seen the Lettermen performed live. They really are the best performer on stage as they know how to please all people around them during the concert. Nice feeling, I like it!

  • I'm a 19 year old musician/composer; and Nothing has inspired me like "The Lettermen". They are just genius, and although music may change throughout the generations, they definitely made their mark in my life.

  • @ch1ldpr0digy

Nice to hear it from a 19tenners. Their music will never die it's a part of every generation.

  • Saw them in person at Murray State back in 1967 and still remember that concert in Racer Arena.

  • @mus691

I'm in Grade 5 at that time. Beginning to like the music that made them famous for 50 years now.

  • Watched them in San Diego about 10 years ago, one original and two new members but the same wonderful sound...

  • @rodsie

They will always be wonderful in every sounds and music they will perform and recorded. True musician always bring the best in their concerts.

  • Grew up in the '60s to THIS SONG! Wish I could see the Lettermen live... The harmony, the sentiment, the Love......

  • @alamosartist

It will come one sunny day at your legendary alamo ground. Just don't loose hope. And they will sing for you "Eres Tu" and "Love Me Like A Stranger" in Mexican language, the way you like it.

  • This song takes me right back to 5th grade. I loved it then, and my opinion hasn't changed. changed.

  • @ftsjr

I'm also at 5th grade when I first heard this song, ftsjr. But I'm more focus on watching movies, Wil Wild West and James Bond at that time. Now the song is one of my favorites.

  • love.. love..love this song.. i'm 22 but i like this dong better than this generation's songs.. ^,^

  • @aiwitch

This just a proof that you know what real music is. Congratulations, aiwitch.

  • While in Nam in late 1967, I heard this song for

the very first time. It became an instant favorite

of mine, so much so that when I got back to

the WORLD in 1968 and bought a brand new Dodge

Charger with a new device called an 8-track player,

this was the first 8 track cassette I had. Some 42

years later, it's still a favorite song of mine. Thanks

    for sharing.

    S/F Barney

  • @BarneyUSMC Yeah, having an 8 track player back then means something. I'm proud of you BarneyUSMC, you're really a gem of a VET.

  • Just classic..bear hug dancing days....lol!

  • @TrishBell55

Your younger days with bear stuff toys I think.

  • My father bought this LP when I was 9 ...and I still love it!!!!

  • @msant00

It's really been a part of our everyday life.

  • Is there any live footage of this concert anywhere? As long as I've heard this album, I've been curious what the atmosphere was like.

  • @StanBennet

I have posted the same songs here in my accounts and it's a live footage taken at Araneta Coliseum way back 2006. Hope you've seen it already. Just keep tracking down the songs posted by jundayo55. Thanks StanBennet.

  • just great!!!

  • @giorgiocaribe

Somebody had spammed my yahoo email accounts and i don't have the access to see all the comments coming. Thanks to youtube, they have remedied this scenarios. Now I can answer all comments coming. Great song indeed.

  • Dazzling harmony!

  • @edwardjames50

Dazzling baby boomers up to these days, edwardjames50.

  • This song's amazing!

  • @hh2fan

Amazingly performed and re-arranged by the original medley makers...The Lettermen.

  • Part of american (soft rock) music hx. ...gotta respect that.

  • @speedoflite1

Good songs are hard to find these days, respects are always with the good songs and the great artist that rendered it.

  • @jundayo55 I personally love the span of "good songs" & "great artists" (50s, 60s, 70s & 80s) and can see the various influences of each; but gotta respect the fact that music changes and evolves w/each passing decade or so, cuz wouldn't it become less interesting if it didn't?

Economics impact what is aired as well, for better or for worse. lol, but I try NOT to think about that.

  • @jundayo55 and thanks for posting this classic!!!

simply "outta my head over it". =)

  • @speedoflite1

I'll post in even a hundred times especially if their someone like you who will appreciate it.

  • @jundayo55 lol, just don't do David Hasselhoff. ...that's where I draw the line.

  • @speedoflite1

    Hahaha! I will,speedoflite.

  • @speedoflite1

    Hahaha! I will,speedoflite.

  • I would give anything to have been at this performance.

  • @StanBennet

    101% performance as always.

  • Fell in love with song back in the 60's and still holds up today.

  • @mus691

    Memories are hard to forget.

  • At :58 not such a good photo. Hand placement.

  • What a song!!!!! Great audience reaction..ALways loved this group!!..no music like this anymore???

  • @ukcatfan36

The best medley of all medleys...it's a classic, a real phenomenal group.

  • sana naman maibalik ang ganitong klaseng kanta ngaun... this is what real music is!

  • @ronoy25

Umiikot lang ang mundo, in a moment time babalik ang uso noong 60's at 70's. Babalik ang bandang lumilikha ng mga ganitong awitin. Magsasawa rin ang tao sa mga awiting walang katuturan. Just pray, Lettermen will still exist when that time comes.

  • kuya tuloy po ba ang concert ng lettermen this july? para mag uumpisa ako mag ipon ng pera pangbili ng ticket

  • @TheMaria1217 July 27, 2010 ang schedule concert nila sa Araneta Coliseum. Log-on to Lettermendotcom and see it for yourself in the touring section of the group. Remember "Maria" para haranahin ka ni Tony personally.

  • Wow, these guys had great voices, great suits and a wonderful music! I knew them while I listened to an Oldies but goodies radiostation and I was very surprised to see their pictures and all. Thanks for posting it. By the way, I am Generatiion X ;)

  • Incredible melody:)

  • I really love this song... reminds me of my dad.. miss you dad.. :( I'm 21..

  • Great sound! I wish the X generation would put their egos on hold for a day and listen to music like this. Unfortunately if music os more than 2 months old they think it's bad. What poverty they choose to live in.

  • @HunterMann

You are probably right, HunterMann. People today, doesn't know the real meaning of music. Actually, most of them wants to make themselves lousy and silly by putting so many props and tattoos on their bodies. And they rock and banged like crazy.

  • @HunterMann : The Allis also do a great version of Outa my head on a live Don Ho album

  • what fools didn't give this video 5 stars?

Most especially the 5 second section where they go from "can't think of anything but" YYYOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUU to "just to good to be true"

  • That's the best part of the medley and the reason why they hit it big in 1968.

  • i know why now.

  • You really know how to appreciate good music, you;'e different from kids at your age. My children whose 9 and 11 really likes to listen to all Lettermen music when we are in our lite ace van. My daughters who ages 21 and 16th are different just like kids today who love to hear unfamiliar noisy music.

  • Were these two songs from the 1967?

  • Yes, they join it together for a wonderful bouncing melodies. The first original medley, only The lettermen can give.

  • Going Out of My Head was from 1964. Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You was from late 1966. This medly was recorded in late 1967 in Vegas and released as a single in early 1968.
