@spectrumVerX When the (non Abrahamic) ancients spoke of God, they were speaking of the emergent order, nature, how all things arise from a causal sphere. And to exist in harmony with this emergent order was to be Godly.
Our idea of God is an authoritarian, overseer who passes judgement on all our actions. Which is a disconnect from the true meaning of divinity or Godliness.
there are 4 theories of law namely, imperative law, natural law, legal realism and kelsen's theory of law .... I support Natural Law but fact is that no theory can give us a complete picture of law but when the 4 theories are combined u will get a complete pictures of law
To understand Natural Law please read the Second Treatise on Government by John Locke, and Leviathan by Thomas Hobbes.
Then look upon your government(s), and observe how they pervert the precepts of natural law.
Observe their crimes against humanity, such as 9/11/2001, and all that has followed as a result.
Everyman has a right to prosecute these people in the court of natural law, which the perpetrators choose to live under by their own actions, instead of the laws of man.
Standford encyclopedia of philosophy has a good article on this giving 'natural law' thinkers who don't fit the 5 definitional characters of natural law - Hobbes seems to be a secular natural law theorist. JS Mill had an odd criticism of natural law - that its hard to figure out what the label "natural" applies to (humans are either part of nature in which case all we do is natural, or not in which case everything we do is unnatural) but that might be missing the point.
"Natural Law in the sense of ideologists or idolators seems quite distinct from Natural Law in the sense of the physical sciences. Even when some Natural Law theorists, like George H. Smith, admit the vast gulf between scientific (instrumental) generalizations and their alleged Natural Laws or taboos, they still habitually use language and metaphor that blurs this distinction and creates a semantic atmosphere in which they seem to be discussing law in the scientific sense." --R.A. Wilson
"All I can say is that, for a slow learner like me, the question of gods and other metaphysical entities including 'Natural Law' remains still open at present even if some devoutly insist that it is closed; and that arguments like 'Shut up' and 'I'll prove it later' only add to my doubts and suspicions." --R.A. Wilson ("Natural Law")
Read Richard Maybury's book "Whatever Happened to Justice" and also "Whatever Happened to Penny Candy" you will see that economics and law are linked together
@jdprincewhisky The order doesn't matter and I already said worshipping God as one of them and living in the society is the same as the rules/justice one :)
okay sorry :L we were just told by our philosophy teacher that it does matter of the order and i can see similarities between rules/jstice and living in socicety but they are not the same.

god is hardly necessary to hold natural law.

@lanceawatt Because that's what he is when he's in.....the zone.

@aaron9099 I think I understand. You need that heightened curiosity to ask great questions. A child naturally is inquisitve.
