This was a real good lesson. Robert Cray is a good choice for a lesson idea. I've always liked Robert Cray. I saw him once live and was impressed. His guitar playing style is not extremely technical but it doesn't have to be for the types of blues songs he plays. But his guitar playing style sure is unique. I really like his style. He's got a real good voice, too. Yeah, he puts on a good show.
I see that this was posted quite some time ago... I'm just now coming across it. I have been a HUGE Robert Cray fan and he has been one of my biggest influences. I am so pleased to see your lesson... you really capture the unique style and voice of Cray and his soulful playing. Way to go!!!
Hey man do you have any tips on how to remember all the positions in every key? I know them all but can only start at the first position and then work my way up :(
@Silencer84 (in regards to remembering all the positions) Since you already know them, a good thing would be to know where the root notes are in every shape. That way, not only you can start anywhere, but you also have a nice "landing pad" close by when you need one to finish off a lick or a run. You can google it "try pentatonic shapes and look for an image that has some spots bigger than the rest (they're usually the root notes.) Let me know when you have it or if you need anymore help.
