  • Nice video ;)

  • I love adding mangoes and pineapples. :)

  • I like the taste of organic bananas better! ha ha

  • i like ur show but have hard time finding most products in thailnd, can you make a recipe, that has no nuts or seeds other then peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and sesame seeds, no nut butters, no raw oils , no squash, no fennel, no Watercress .no rocket,no olives, no lemons but lime is ok , no kale ( we dont get different types here so most of the kale is very bitter) , No dill, No rosemary, no bay leaf, no Celery seeds, no mustered seeds, no berries only tropical fruit. :)

  • hi jenna, thnks for the video, its really useful..was wondering, can i add brocolli to this or not??

  • Comment removed

  • i love them thanks!!

  • lol I was expecting her to go YUCK!!!! THATS F'ING DISGUSTING AH YUCK!!! lol :)

  • yummy

  • Very nice! Love what you said about the bananas. Oranges are pretty protected by their peel, too. I wish I could find organic kale at my local grocer, though. Stuff like that I won't eat non organic.

  • made my first one last night it was sooooo good!

  • Hamilton Beach dual wave Blender for only $ 60 is a great alternative to spending $ 400 on a vita mix !

thats way too expensive for most people to buy

  • $400? Trust me---it's worth every penny. I bought mine EIGHT years ago, and it is still going strong. Before that I was going through those $60 blenders every year and a half.

I don't sell these things btw, I just believe in them.

  • do you have any opinion about putting wheatgrass in the vitamix? i've gotten mixed messages from people, some saying you need to use a wheatgrass juicer and some saying it's fine to use the vitamix. anyway, great vid and very well produced, and, um, you're not exactly hard to look at either :). cheers

  • very cool

  • Thanks for sharing and muting the blender!

  • i make mine with spinach because it is tasteless and it is cheep at my farmers market

  • Make sure to chew it.

  • Haha...Running raw!

  • Now I find that hard :(

  • Looks great. Is there any reason to break the banana and the kale? I thought that was the point of the blender. Just wondering.

  • that smoothie looks delicious! But what about food combining? Aren't fruits to be eaten alone?

  • You can blend fruits with greens. That's a great food combo. See Victoria Boutenko's book, Green for Life.

    To your radiant health!

    Jenna

  • lol the theme is green! :P

  • Where can you find kale? I haven't seen it anywhere. I live near Seattle, in Washington State.

  • veggie section in any store;-)

  • Oh... I'll remember that, lol.

  • I live in Edmonds,WA and kale is everywhere.Look in Safeway,Fred Meyer,Albertsons, they all have organic produce sections too.I even bought kale at Grocery Outlet.

  • Wow. A fellow Washingtonian (lol... sorry).

I'm in S. Everett, and I've been to a couple Safeways in the area and I didn't see Kale (Mill Creek Safeway and 76th St, S. Everett). I'll try a couple other store. I really appreciate it though. I actually gave up, assuming they didn't have it in our area!

  • Geez, you folks have great Organic Food Coops. Big box shopping only sucks your money up into an economic strata where you never see it again. Where from small Ma'n Pa stores, or from coops, your money would circulate back around to you, relatively, as it's staying on the same relative level. Great Thanks to those who consider this.

  • Hi there,

I am under the impression that a perfect meal would have proteins/carbs and fat. this recipe doesn't seem to have any fat. could you comment on this. thanks so much!

  • yea some olive oil might help, but a lot of raw foodists don't eat much fat, but fat is necessary for some hormones so id add some oils or osmething

  • Don't forget, this is only a part of your daily food intake. You do not have to add any oils or fats to a green smoothie especially if you want to lose weight. But if you absolutely must, you could add a few drops of coconut oil or flax oil or grind up a half a cup of organic flax seeds and add that to the smoothie.

  • You are absoluitely gorgeous!!! IO love your energy and keep up living healthy!

  • Jenna,

I watched your documentary and I must say that its super great!! I have a questionI have read that when you cook your food/veggies/leaves the nutritional value changes, now what happens when you freeze your food (fresh bananas then you freeze them) or buy frozen fruits to make green smoothies? Does the cold/low temperatures change the nutritional value of the food?

  • Hi there : ) Freezing foods doesn't affect their nutrition like cooking does. Freezing is generally acceptable in the raw food lifestyle. But when you can eat fresh, it's always better.

Thank you for your kind words about my film!

    To your radiant health!

    Jenna

  • Mmm, green smoothies! But you should always CHEW YOUR SMOOTHIES!! Digestion begins in the mouth with our saliva so help your digestion and don't just swallow - CHEW :-)

  • which blender did you use? my mom's blender leaves little chunks even on a fast setting.

  • Can you please tell me which are the few best blenders on the market - and ones I can get in europe? Thanks

  • Thanks so much for this video. Although I've been making smoothies and juicing occasionally, I wanted to completely switch to eating raw foods so I bought kale yesterday for the first time and in just a few minutes you've taught me several ways to prepare it. Thanks again, I'm so excited I found you.

  • Hi Jenna, excellent video. I've been making green smoothies lately, but I have a question that I've never seen answered anywhere. I've heard you should limit the amount of water you drink with a meal because it dilutes the acid and digestive enzymes in your stomach. I've wondered about the water or liquid that gets added in a green smoothie - does that affect the digestibility of the greens? Thanks.

  • Hi there! Thanks for your kind words! Green smoothies are an exception to that rule because the greens are "pre-digested" through blending. They digest much more easily. Get Victoria Boutenko's book, Green for Life. It's a great resource!

    Jenna

  • Somebody else mentioned how quick you are to respond to questions and they were right. Thanks very much for the info.

  • make more smoothie videos

  • can you use frozen vegetables and/or frozen fruits for these?

  • Yes! Makes it more convenient. Fresh is always best, but frozen is a good alternative. I often freeze my bananas for the smoothie.

    To your radiant health!

    Jenna

  • Wow, thank you for the quick response. Just to be completely clear, when i refer to frozen items, I am talking about things that you buy frozen from the store, such as spinach or berries. Can they be made into green smoothies, too?

  • Absolutely!

  • Okay, good. Thanks again!

  • I would think the point is to get more leafy greens in your diet and the only frozen green I can think of right now is in fact spinach, and I'd suspect that the spinach might be blanched first. Think about why you'd be choosing frozen over raw - leaves are better than veggies such as peas, green beans, etc.

I'd forget the minor convenience of frozen greens and just go with the raw deal. Kale, spinach, collards, dandelion greens, romaine, ... the list of non-frozen options is more extensive.

  • i think the reason mostwnt drink green smoothies is beacause mayb their wild imagination brings them to think u put many 'ugly' leafy stuff into it. and maybe becuz they are so used to sugary foods, they dont want good for you stuff.

  • I don't know why people are so intimidated by green smoothies, or green food in general. It doesn't make sense to me. Green is so yummy and healthy.

  • I know! I LOVE green smoothies - they're so energizing and yummy! I can't get my mom to try one of my green smoothies. My sister will, but mom won't. And all my relatives and friends make fun of my green smoothies - but it's fun. lol.

  • ya!!!

especially they taste great!!! ( unlike grass juice...which smells so strong that I'll never try it )

  • what kind of blinder is that your using?

  • It's a Vita-Mix, but most blenders will work, as long as they're at least 500 RPM.

    Jenna : )

  • It's a Vita-Mix, but you could use a lower horsepower blender, as long as it's at least 500 RPMs.

  • You're so charismatic! I will try this!

  • Great video! Shared this with others new to Green Smoothies- very helpful! Also, love your green shirt!

    God Bless! Angel

  • Victoria Boutenko who invented this smoothie , is a queen, she knows the deal.

Blessings for putting out the word.

    Long live the rawvolution.

  • Yes. I love the Boutenko family. They're wonderful educators.

  • Excellent! I've done green smooties for several months now..I use my imagination and add milled flax seed, yogurt, raw oatmeal, apples, REAL juices ect. I don't expect it to be like candy, it's more of a meal that you drink, I feel better than ever and I'm in my mid 40's.

    Health is the new sexy!

  • Absolutely! It's fun to get creative.

  • If you don't want to taste the greens, reduce the amount of greens or add more banana or other fruit. You can also add a date or two to sweeten it. Enjoy!

  • Would that happen to be a Vitamix blender you're using? If so, how much was it?

  • Cheers! I love the book you mentioned in this clip! Brilliant!
