  • Saw him twice during this period...really moving performances. Greatly underrated talent.

  • I loved the movie so much that i searched for a house above a bar (when i first moved out) and wanted a lousy job and just hang in the bar and have the same situations as steve buscemi, now luckely i am wiser and know that its just a role he played and real life isnt as simple as in movies.. so i left the silly plans..haha

  • Does anyone know where the real Trees Lounge bar is?? I would like to go there and drink too much but I can't find it for the life of me!

  • Where is Hayden now?! I NEED to know what he is up to!!

  • ...and further, only people that don't dribk call people alcoholics. Us alckies just like to be happy, and spread larve! ok, enough of that...

  • Just watched this film on the telly for about the fifth time over the years. A brilliant movie, right right right up my main street. My idea of americana, from here in Wales. Fuck Capitol Hill and Washington DC with their gobshites, this is the great US I like, people with their hearts in the right place, where it matters. And OK, I am a bit of a barfly too, but still! Should have had a stackful of Oscars.

  • Love this song, love this movie and I love Steve. :)

  • great song, great film. yes, peyoteugly, that is the proper response.

  • Seymour Cassel on the drums there

    , sweet

  • Rockets Redglare on guitar and backing vox! (at least for show)

  • still one of the best CANADIAN artist around

  • what ever happened to hayden?

  • @sensationaldenny He's still putting out great albums. Check out "Field and Town"

  • You've got a pretty name You're pretty like your name. :)

    Let's play a drinking game.

  • Wow, I'm 16 all over again.

  • Am I dreaming, or was there a different version of this video with a different intro before the song started?

  • @jaspertine9 yeah, the original line from the film is "what kind of an asshole question is that?" instead of 'asinine'

  • @jaspertine9 There was also a version with Bucemi playing the drinking game with the girl

  • @cancerr Right, that's the one I remember. Thanks. :)

  • One of my favorite songs of all time

  • Interesting seeing the "real" Trees Lounge .. bar the movie was written about.

  • love dis tune cool bass doin all the cords instead of a 6 string......and the words ...a tune with big soul

  • I remember seeing this music video on the VHS copy of this movie. For some reason it was on their twice. back to back. Must have been an editing mistake. But I was always glad they made it.

  • @rebelyell1983x Oh god,I remember.I had never even heard of Hayden.Since then this has become 1 of my faves.

  • peter griffin to lara flynn boyle

    "Good"

  • Love This. I bought the soundtrack off of ebay a number of years back just cause of this--couple of great tracks on it---absolutely love the cover of Mudslide on it--and the Pogues song on it is pretty great too. Movie is amazing of course--i saw it in theaters in 9th grade---long before even being familiar with the taste of alcohol---but i loved this movie even then. I got the honor of meeting both Buscemi and Seymour Cassel a couple years back and first thing i said--I Loved Trees Lounge.

  • Saw this good man a couple times at Wetlands NYC, 97-98, bought him a beer... nice fella.... true talent and one heck of a good guy... love this song told him so and he said, "me too, I love singing this song too." we smiled :)

  • What happened to Hayden anyway.. such a fantastic artist.. I wish I had a chance to see him live.

  • buscemi wrote this!

  • @popjiffy He wrote the movie not the song.

  • "Cause I need something to forget,

what got me in this mess

    Feeling less and less"

    - Brilliant

It feels like a billion years ago when this movie/song came out.

  • I WANNA CHEW AND EAT HER TOENAILS

  • ultimate morning song for someone who doesnt really give a fuck what time of day it is

  • isn't hayden's entire career a cover version of swearing at motorists

  • @holograms ? I don't get it.

  • dude this is an awesome stoner song man ah good tunes!!

  • great song

i mean if you broke up its the greatest ... and the ink spots ... sooo goood

  • by the way, the trees lounge here was called hennigan's sports bar when the movie was made but it is now called whiskey business. it's on central avenue in valley stream

  • just an update, now trees lounge is known as the corner pub. it's the same one from this music video

  • This movie made me sad. The song doesn't help either. Both are fantastic though.

  • Hayden FTW. His version of 'Gouge Away' far surpasses the Pixies', imho (and I am a Pixies fan). I love this video. I also love Chloe Sevigny and Steve Buscemi, so this is so full of win it makes me starry-eyed.

  • The ice cream truck scenes are really good. The kid never does get his ice cream! And the heart attack is classic. Seymour Cassel was excellent too.

  • He works the hat

  • i grew up in valley stream!!!!

  • @0Mike0Banks0 You are lucky dude. I couldn't help but thinking "man that looks like a nice place to live" while watching the movie.

  • haha i guess so. i took driver's ed in valley stream too. the scene in the beginning at the garage with steve buscemi sitting by the pole is on central ave. there is one scene in a car where the characters drive under the train station and head towards sunrise highway. i bet if i watch it again i will recognize more stuff, the scenes with ice cream truck definitly are in one of the neighborhoods of valley stream. i still go to the same pizzeria, genovese, on central ave! it's a great place!

  • Yeah, it is a great song, and movie, too!

  • Great Song!!

  • LEGEND

  • steve buscemi is the best, man!

  • great video...

...the big dude makes that guitar look like a ukulele...

  • we all have a tree's lounge......I wish this song played at mine.

  • dam straight

  • ultimate drunken head bobbin song, yaaaa!

  • I totally agree!

  • @toddzilla08 haha so true

  • great. just fucking great.

first heard this song in 1996, freshman year of college.

still totally destroys me every time i hear it.

  • @peyoteugly Hey, I completely empathize with you. I had graduated high school, didn't know what I was going to do, and had become a shut in, and this song/film came around. It made me feel worse at that time.

  • @peyoteugly ditto. cheers brother

  • @peyoteugly Amen, man.

  • reminds me of this guy Russell I met once.....god he was a looker!!! ;)

  • ...bankai...awesome song!

  • The movie is awesome and a young scarlet johanson I believe Hayden, saw in NYC... had a drink with him, great guy. Played before the 'hip' and was 1000 times better.

  • Chloe Sevigny, actually.

But man, this song brings back memories. What a tremendously melancholy and beautiful song.

  • ive seen hayden twice in edmonton. loved him since'95! i hope he keeps putting out great music forever!!if you like this song , try out the soundtrack to this movie. it is pretty awesome!!

  • I've never actually seen the movie, but know what its about. I've always thought that this song should be playing at every bar in the middle of the day so all the bar flies out there can feel it

  • I saw Hayden in the UNB SUB way back in '98 and really enjoyed the show.

  • what career ?? lolol

  • just watched trees lounge this song is awesome

  • harsh beautiful song, speaking as a drunk

  • I loved this song the moment I heard it while watching the great trees lounge movie.

  • Stumbled across this and forgot how much I love this song. Awesome video too.

  • it's been a while :)

  • faved

  • Looks like the video was shot better than the movie. Hayden is by far the best musician that no one knows about!

  • Still a great song!

  • yo,when u comin back to chicago Hayden??

  • one of my favorite songs. :)

  • this song dont ever get old to me.

  • still one of my favorite Hayden songs...held onto this VHS copy of Trees Lounge for years because the DVD didn't have the music video on it originally!

  • Yep, absolutely.

  • fav video of all time thx for the post and i will add it to my fav's and share it with all of my friends!

  • Yo Hayden!

I love your stuff.. HUGE Fan.. Would love to have all off it.. Just can't seem to get it anywere.. I have 2 CDS but I want more I'm hooked..

  • go to his concerts if u can every cd and for like 10 buks awsome deal

  • go to his shows.buy his chit there! best way to support the man!

  • i`ve seen him play this song as his soundcheck before a show...it`s a fantastic pop-rock jewel inlaid in a shield of pure golden indie godliness

  • great clip

    love this movie

before I met my wife I was like steve in this movie

    I can relate

  • one of my all time favourite tunes, not really sure why, never seem to tire of it

  • good song, great movie...i give it 4 outta 5 thumbs....-1 for reminding m.e. of my own pathetic life

  • Any band with Seymour Cassel on drums and Rockets Redglare on guitar is fine by me, cool as anything. Seriously, this is a great movie, fuck, without my wife this would've been my story. Buscemi was brilliant, and Mark Boone Junior should've won an Oscar. I need something to forget.

  • really this will ALWAYS be one of my favorite songs of all time....i kill it sometimes by listening to it too much. cause i leave it for awhile and then come back to it. and when i come back...i play the hell out of it...it's a vicious cycle.

  • wicked tune.wicked movie

  • in new york, korea would be pronounced kareer.

    china would be chiner, etc

    suzanna would be suzanner.

    jesus...

  • your over simplified opinion is just that... dialect has nothing to do with this particular dialog....."dumbass"!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hayden is a great Canadian artist and not to metion Trees Lounge is a great Movie!!

  • i may be drunk,.. i love hayden ,but at this moment..it sounds like j. mascus{dinosaur jr.}..

  • "what.......... korea?" man, that is classic. I still say that to this day! Hayden is the man!

  • hey foolybop.for just the fact that your listening to this i know your cool.. but i think when he asked him about korea,he thinks he says{career}thus his responce,'what career"?...

  • HA shit man.... he's totally saying Career. Thanks for the correction. lol Guess I have to start saying "what... career"

  • That is too funny!!!!!!!!!!

  • yes existentialism at it best,i have looked for music from trees lounge for years, so bless your heart for uploading this....

  • rockets redglare on guitar!!! awesome song/movie!!!!

  • I fucking love this song and love this video

  • great song.
