I'm not an expert on this sort of stuff, but I read somewhere that the Americans hoped to use this in case of a break in the cold war. However it was generally unstable and dangerous, so they scrapped it. One way or another, Russia then got a hold of the blue prints and improved it for their own use. I wonder other sorts of technology they have because of stuff like this?

during one of the test flights, a airforce captain leaned to far to the side to try a sharper banked turn and it dipped and flipped upside down and sent him head first into the ground at like 100mph and killed him on impact. they scrapped the program cuz they didn't have the technology to design stabilizers that would be responsive enough.

but i bet they could now. we should be seeing these things back up an running within 10 years... and soon enough, the "flying car" will be born.

I havent seen that....ive seen some postings of things that LOOKS like someone flying around on something like this......and people claiming it is a flying humanoid(witch, etc) usually from mexico....Its hard to belive the Mexican government (if they even own one of these things) would be flying them around in public areas scaring people. A more likely exp. is that those vids are of tethered balloons either intentionaly(hoax) or unintentionaly(balloons from a celebration) fooling people.
