  • Well for starters you twat the mash potato has nothing to do with that and secondly you might want to look up jimmy little

  • Check this song out by; Wilson Pickett its the greatest.

  • How could Australians know how to do the mash potato, they were prejudiced and have you noticed, there weren't any people of color in the 1960s performers.

  • @Khultan WTF, you are an idiot

  • @tuohy05 Well, you schmuck, show evidence otherwise.

  • Roy got off his forte with this...."Land of a Thousand Dances"? Uh? No.

I love Roy....but let me suggest:

    Cannibal and the Headhunters

  • Bill Haley´s version is the best!.

  • Well I belive Roy has lots of SOUL!!!! and I belive that Wilson is playing the same sweet soul music in Heaven with Roy!!!!!

  • OMG!!!! Well Wilson got some Foster Grants and all long hair band!!! WTG Roy!!!

  • Horrible....no soul

  • I would've never guessed this!

  • See ya later Aligator .... haaaa ... Mate ! ...hope this gives ya the booth for the day... :-)

  • This is just great, alot of peoplehave recorded great versions but for me this the best one. Tom Jones's is wonderful , but none rock as much as this. Great Backing from the Art Movement too. Rip Roy , you really were the best <3

  • Roy orbinson was a genius, just like Elvis.

    'That's the way it is'

  • God said in Odessa Texas in 1936 AD I will create the greatest most beautiful singer to ever exist on earth.

  • @BBQFanNo1

    Wink, TX?

  • @BBQFanNo1 even Vernon Texas .... he was the greatest :D

  • Beats the hell out of the auto-tune vocally enhanced crap singing you hear in the 1990's and 2000's.

  • this is a joke. soul obviously wasn't Roy's forte. He should have stuck to ballads or rock'n'roll. Give me Wilson Pickett any day. Roy, I'm afraid, can't hold a candle to him.

  • @pinchold nice guitars and hand clapping

  • @spacepatrolman Ha ha ha you nailed it

  • @pinchold Roy is the most beautiful singer that ever existed on Planet Earth history.

  • 8 people only know the cover version from "Ini Kamoze".

  • 8 people have problems

  • Who are the guitar and drummer on this band? They're just brilliant.

  • Who are the guitar and drummer on this band? They're just brilliant.

  • The son of a gun from Odessa Texas kicks ass!

  • @BBQFanNo1 i dont like this song that much but the way the brass sounds and they way they harmonize is nice

  • Get down Roy! The groovyiest cat on the Planet Earth neighborhood block!

  • No better white singers in history than Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley!

  • God I miss this guy and I'm a big Elvis. This guy is a real class man respectful of others with soul and humility

  • fantastic song

  • Truly an "electric" voice, one of a kind and just so great to listen to.

  • who is the guitarist doing the solos? he is a bad mo-fucka

  • that's wicked back-beat!

  • A-Mazing!

  • You can't rank or compare Roy's voice. He was unique and a really nice guy to meet.

  • Great song, great voice, but to say he's like James Brown or Michael Jackson and Elvis rolled into one. Calm it down a bit...

  • One of the best Roy vids on youtube!

  • Dude is like Elvis, Michael Jackson, James Brown and Glen Danzig, and the Blues Brothers rolled into a single burito! He was soo cool he didn't need to jump around or learn Karate. Just stand and know you have comand.

  • could the stage be any higher how can the front row see?

  • They gotta play something to fill up the time. ORBISON was out of his orbit on this one.

  • You have to give Roy credit for performing a song like this which I'm sure was way out of his comfort zone. And he did it live with no room for error, and what a job he did. I can see why Elvis stated that Roy was the best singer in the world. What a talent. Thanks for posting this video. It gives us a chance to see Roy in a new light.

  • WEll thats a fucking racist comment .....Imagine if some one said this is black as hell if a black man did a song originally done by a white man...

    Pathetic

  • @elwoodlpool you don't really get it - it's not racist at all. There's an obvious differentiation between musical interpretations taken, on a general level, by different races. Whilst it's not all-inclusive, the majority of any particular group will tend towards a particular interpretation. (eg think of a stereotypical "Black Church" and then a stereotypical "White Church") The same applies here; this arrangement is far more typical of other "white" music in the genre.

  • when any white song goes black, it gets some colors ;-)

  • raulishnikov...you havn't lived long enough ....to make comments as pathetic as your last....live through the 60's & 70's at the very least before you foolish comments as you posted here.

  • So. in your opinion one must be an elderly citizen as you to comment on youtube? I'm sorry but you are nobody to tell me what to think... You are not young enough to understand " ;-) " means a wink for the 80's or younger ppl. For me is funny all that racist comments.. From where i come no ones gives a fk to the color of the composer or interpreter of a musical piece. sorry if i haven't witnessed the REv. MLK speechess or the KKK era. ok.. don't get mad.. white is the sum of all colors. happy?

  • Your comment was with out explanation.... I assume you think all covers done by black vocalist is better ? or reverse....any white guy can't possibly sing a black vocals performance...so what is you r comment about? in plain english ?

  • What i meant in a sarcastic way, is exactly that. There's good covers or originals by either white, black or, orange people. I don't care about colors. And it was a sarcastic response to "This is white as hell" comment up there. Sometimes youtube doesn't place the reply below the comment. Besides when you have a good song performed by a totally different style, voice arrengements etc. you get some richness (not always) i dont like rap or hip.hop but apart from it black music is great isn't?

  • i am a white female drummer 55 years old for what it's worth.

  • I'm a mexican professional ballet dancer by 22 years. and also a violinist and cellist. But in Mexico no one cares about skin colors you like it or you don't that simple. Off course we have other social problems and discrimination comes more on social and economical status rather than skin color. i would aprecciate the good yellow, black, brownie, red, white, pink, orange or purple performer in any sport, art, or activity in despite of it's skin color. (Roy Orbinson rocks ;-) )

  • @raulishnikov your intelligent and factual.i'm not sure this is a great format for your level of comment?

  • @nomiclas no, is not....

  • As a drummer i think you may love to listen (and try) some african tribal music. is so colourful... voices, rythm drums..exotic but enjoyable. Best regards.

  • @elwoodlpool Roy always wore black ....... :P

  • wtf where does that statement come from white as hell ur fucking racist!!!!!

  • I agree - it IS better..

  • i dont think that the drummers that bad

  • the na na na's are catchy

  • Jesus Christ, did this drummer ever get another gig after this effort? Roy deserved better than that joker behind him.

  • Yepp the mash potatoes times were great, sorry there over...haha...Great song :)

  • É TUDO DE BOM NA VIDA!!!!!

  • Wilson Pickett owned the helloutta this song !!!! LOL!!! This is okay !!

  • Cannibal and the Headhunters actually owned the song and just loaned it to Wilson. LOLx2

  • When I said owned ...I mean he sung the Helloutta It...LOLx3

  • @2baholic CHRIS KENNER owns this song. LOOK IT UP it's easy. Although ONLY Pickett's version STANDS OUT.

  • His voice cracks when he does 123.

  • Brings Memories Back.. Well done

  • awesone roy !!!!!!!! miss ya roy xx

  • I would have never thought he performed this song

  • Roy Orbison IS a legend, and the backup band DOES rock. And the song is a classic.

But this is not one of Roy's better performances. His voice sounds overly high and strained throughout.

    If you like, good. But...

  • YES!! the back up bands those days were more skilled than any of the dribble that we put our these days! look at any of the bands on tour, the session singers etc.. we have nuthin like it now!

  • yep total genius , this video and take on a soul classic has got to be the most soulful and raw version i have ever heard ! . with the great camera work , the energy of his band and the sheer raw passion put into this performance , i find it hard to comprehend why any one would attempt to ever do a version of this song ever again ! be they black or white . even wilson pickett refused to sing it again im told , he must have felt that Roy took it ripped it up and left him shamefaced and redundant
