  • @salamanda71 hi sal I'll keep my out for it now that you said that cheers to you and thanks hey ;-)

  • thumbs up for Dan Kerlins English class! :D (y)

  • wow this looks like an awsome film..i've never see Sydney so old b4 :-)

  • @MyCityOfSYDNEY I've got pictures of myself in the late 60's at Sydney Harbour and the Opera House, and as far as you could see,was vacant land,a bit like Giovanni in the movie buying his block.,that would be worth a mint today!

  • @Ramadl59

    wow! :))

  • The best thing about this movie is seeing old Sydney of the 1960's, before most of it was bulldozed in the '70's and '80's. At least the Marble Bar was saved and moved to the cellar of the Hilton when the Adams Hotel was demolished in the early 1970's. (Something revolutionary for 1970's Australia - ie. preserving our heritage.)

  • Bars are of course ideal learning environments for students of English as a second language.

  • this was a classic movie pity due to racial slander its most likeley been put in the do not share folder :..... cana you tella me how I getting to kings a bloody cross lol just a line I have always remembered since I was a kid lol.... my daduse to wear a hanky tie hat like the one in this movie when he was a demolisher lol

  • I have never heard of the movie before - I might just have to watch the whole movie!

I loved how that random gave Graham Kennedy the business - I guess Ted Bullpit was not the only Sydneysider against Graham and those down South!!!

  • LOL, he started almost a fight for the "your turn of "the shout".

and the woman could also say big glass of beer or small one?

    a weird but funny situation

As I say never travel to places where you don't know anyone.

  • I can't find this movie anywhere! Grrr....

  • @musicallyspeakings88

Its included on the Powell & Pressburger Collection dvd box set :)

  • @conductor71 Thanks!

  • Aussies, Brits, Americans, we're all awesome!

  • TOP MOVIE

  • That bloke is one Walter Chiari. He is a proper italian actor. I never knew he made this film till i went to australia. Shame not all of them are really italian. Some of them are a bloody disgrace. Still, a damn funny movie. and so australian too. Up there with "the castle".

  • bring here the bloody beer!

  • DAMMM wish the whole movie were up here. im doing a review in english class on this.

  • My great-uncle was a young cop fresh out of training college when this was released.

  • I saw this when I was about 8 years old. One of the first movies I saw. Seems like its all about compliance to peer group pressure and customs.

I dont think much has changed.

  • man my great uncle wrote the book for this so suck shit

  • He was a Genius :o) He made history big time.

he did something great with his life. Why dont you do the same. Life is a blast. Be positive focus !

  • From the Italian version of Wikipedia about Italian great actor Walter Chiari, who's the star of this Australian movie:

  • yes but the actor is an italian ...god bless walter chiari

  • God bless Walter Chiari, indeed!

  • classic aussie movie
