@TacticalCitySlicker See at first I thought he's making a valid thought out point, and then in the later half you only prove you havent really done any research on what your talking about unless you count a US high school or bachelors level textbook research, which no one would. bravo.
@TacticalCitySlicker There is no point in me posing any more of an argument if it is obvious you have not really done your homework on the subject. The argument is in what is considered current thought and understanding of the subject which your post blatantly showed you are unaware of. That is not an insult, that is just a fact.
@TacticalCitySlicker Hah, I've got a job and a life little feller. You were expecting maybe I was sitting around hanging on every response and comment? Sorry, not the case.
@lostxtsol Alright do something for your kids future and use those little gray cells up in your head called a brain. I'm going to make a prediction you'll be deeply offended by so you to prove me wrong, and in doing so help yourself. Your child is going to have a bleak future, he will suffer from malnutrition if not starvation, he'll have a sub standard education and will never reach it's true potential. All because guys like you think the government is there to help you.
@TacticalCitySlicker Hah. "I" think the government is there to help me? Your assuming way too much guy. I'm not the one with a military avatar. FYI, I'm an anarchist. So that finger your pointing does not apply to me in the least. I can get the benefits you so ignorantly blasted without a state to enforce it by simply using reason and like minded individuals to work together, and it has worked before in history, in Catalonia in the 30's.
@lostxtsol The fascists hated them the capitalists hated them, AND the communists hated them. It's called fear. Fear that someone had finally figured out the game and they massacred them all as a result because the system was working and didnt need them. Look it up.
@lostxtsol You are not an anarchist if you defend welfare and socialist icons like Chaves. Have you ever even read any Albert J Nock, Edmund Burke or even Murray N Rothbard?
w w w(dot)lewrockwell(dot)com/rothbard/rothbard133(dot)html
Also you are describing a commune of voluntary socialists, which is all well and good until one of them doesn't want to pay anymore then the group will make him, and presto there's oppression and the beginnings of a government.
@TacticalCitySlicker I never defended them as being in the right or as justified, only that the argument you were posing showed a lack of complete understanding of the ideology you were arguing based on how you were arguing it man. You claimed it was the socialism pitting us against each other, but it is not. The song is saying we do not have the right to police ideas and peoples choices even we do not agree or see them as failed. Yet we do.
@TacticalCitySlicker You said we will turn into, "Fascist China". China is state capitalism, totalitarian for sure, but hardly fascist. I am an anarchist, that doesnt mean I'm just going to forget proper definitions and understanding of the subjects of the discussion. In anarchism if someone doesnt want to play they are free to leave and do their own thing, the group wont force anyone to do anything. i encourage you to read more of anything on non an-cap Anarchism.
@TacticalCitySlicker I know of an-cap. It is failed because it still causes subjugation. The free market cant give or guarantee liberty without taking it from someone else. A worker must give up value he creates when he works and then also spend to provide that value when he consumes. It cant remove this equation or equalize it. Without some state it will slide into something not unlike our present situation. Look into the period between the AoC and the constitution.
@lostxtsol I corresponded with and "anarchist" like you before. Have you noticed how it seems like we are both talking about something completely different while it's called the same thing.
Ask yourself why.
An Anarchist is an individualist believing in his own rule not that of others not that of a collective or government. But you do.
So why do you think that is?
Anarchism is a philosophy not a protesting black hoody wearing guy with a brick.
@TacticalCitySlicker Yeah i noticed, because you obviously have not done the homework. anyone who has read anything about any of this would know your off. we're not barred from being collective or working together that again shows how little you know. If I believe something and others believe it too, we can work together towards it and maintain ourselves as anarchists. No rule, why must it be rule? Just collaboration.
@TacticalCitySlicker WTF are you talking about? Who is talking about black hoodies and bricks... You need to read some books. Kropotkin, Bakunin, Marx, Trotsky, Rocker, Chomsky, Proudhon and more. Maybe then you'll better understand these things to argue and discuss them because there are fundamentals here you are omitting whether it be because you havent been exposed to them, are doing so purposely, or didnt understand them. An your putting things in my mouth, i never said
@lostxtsol You said you are an Anarchist, but you list 7 card carrying socialists as your inspiration. You want the absence of the current government so you can replace it with your tyranny. Making you undeserving of the prestigious Anarchist label. And yes you are that brick throwing punk, and I'll have you know that if you show up to my neck of the woods burning store fronts, you'll meet my individual liberty in the form of a controlled pair of 147gr FMJ 7.62-51mm in the chest.
@TacticalCitySlicker hahaha, your either a complete troll or the stupidest moron I have ever met.YourFail1, I recommend those books so you can stop sounding like an idiot when you argue things you obviously know nothing about. YourFail5, I dont burn stores or throw bricks so I have nothing to worry about.
@TacticalCitySlicker Finally, I dont think you would know individual liberty if you lost it. And thats the only thing sadder int his conversation than your entire part in it.

@TacticalCitySlicker Yeah a "poet",i dont have an xbox. @DesuDesuRampage You've read perhaps maybe two of my comments and made up your mind halfway through the first one.
I am an Anarchist (no government), and proud of it! The guy I was arguing with was a socialist (total government), but claimed he was an Anarchist.
You're a Anime guy, imagine if some guy that draws Disney toons, and starts calling them Anime. Then he'd call you a moron for not knowing what anime is. How'd you feel?
@TacticalCitySlicker Sorry but i couldnt give a shit, you acted like a hardass and i just joined in to mock you for being a "badass". I am on the side of no one,Socialist or Anarchist. You should not have said you would shoot him if you trespassed his property. And if someone said i was a moron for thinking the truth,i would most likely walk away thinking "What a douche".
@DesuDesuRampage Oh I get it! Your from Europe, where you don't have the option or notion of self defense. Imagine if the UK riots came to Finland and this thug with a Molotov cocktail would walk up to your house? What do you do? Cry for the police to save you as your house burns to the ground? Perhaps your mom didn't come out in time and is gone now? Because your government doesn't want you to protect your family and yourself. I threatened lostxtsol because he's that thug.
"When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a communist." Seriously some of you need to actually look at facts. I tend to go republican, but even I see that we need some serious change. You can't let the fear of a title keep you from seeing what's right.
I agree with a lot of everything they say from a personal point of view. But then i look at what needs to be done and i have to stop and think if it can actually work. The only thing they say i dont agree with in any way is legalize weed. I can do without that.
@Dragonus45 Really? Because every day money and more importantly lives are lost in the campaign against marijuana. If we legalise it, we can tax it and use the revenue to reduce the deficit or maybe institute some new social programs. There's no advantage to keeping it outlawed.

keep flobots underground, man. its sicker that way. whenever a band gets too famous, there music becomes generic and crappy, check out linkin park, man. flobots deserve cred and respect, but they dont need to become famous, they have it sold with the crowd that dont just listen, but understand. now, my last point. if this went public, some retard extremist might do something under the influence of there awesome musice, check out rise.
@XzxVidJudgexzX I think the Flobots have enough integrity that they wouldn't be changed by a lot of fame. Their message would be heard by a much larger base. It's one thing to be famous, another thing entirely to sell out.
FUCK the rothschilds, rockefellers, Windsors (saxe-coburg-gotha), Van Oranje Nassaus (dutch so called royalty), the warburgs, the carnegies, Loeb, Kuhn, the Bushes, Gores, Kissingers and all their fellow-nazi's
finnaly, a lyrisict that recognizes that weed was PLACED in the urban community by the government in the first place so they could make money by sending people to jail...
@juicehalo you're retarted... weed was never "placed" on any large scale by the government. and they don't make money by sending people to jail, it COSTS money... the government would save millions of dollars by legalization. but they never "placed" it in urban communities.
@juicehalo I assume you mean coke and crack. Not weed. And @sk88rdude999 it does cost money but in return the imprisoned are legal slaves due to the thirteenth amendment and, depending on the crime, will not be able to vote. Thus, suppressing the outcry and voice of the poor and discriminated who are both victims of it.
Also, the point of this song is that it COSTS to police the world.
Lol. You guys need to stop listening to Rush Limbaugh. If your not a conservative, it doesn't mean your a socialist. Or a big government enthuseist. Things must change. With a society in a turning point for major change. You must adjust to compensate it. The changes will not stop. So if we choose not to adapt we simply won't be around after we made the mistake. The current state of america that is. We'll always be here, just under a different government.
I like this song. It's got a good beat and good lyrics. It's got a good flow. But wow, socialism is spreading like an sob...screw healthcare and welfare hah
how come when the government helps out the rich, the people stand behind it calling it trickledown. But when government helps the poor you scream socialism?
@reru444 or maybe your just poor cause you never went to college for something relevant. education leads to the cash, its not some conspiracy to keep the poor poor, the stupid just shouldnt be rich
@BrookeBIOHAZARDx *Wince* Please tell me you were fucking joking about screwing healthcare and welfare! wow, I have no comment to that... none at all.
I actually agree with you on that last part. I don't think this is their best, but Handlebars sure as Hell isn't. It's really good though. I think either Stand Up and Fight With Tools are their best.
uhh No. Here they say the stuff explicitly but that's not hard. The hard part is saying it under the lyrics, with hidden meaning so it requires much time to listen and understand, instead of just being the same cliche or "same things" over and over.
Or that! Sorry haha. I guess the sound just comes down to personal taste but their songs aren't about sounding good, we leave that to the mainstream music these days. Their songs are about the message, and that's why people like you and me listen to it!.
your a moron if you think there is no confilct with religion what exactly do you think world war 2 was about? it was about two religions where one thought they were superior. In my opinion without religion there would be no war.
@WayTooMuchPressure I would argue that the message of the song goes WAY beyond simply "it's not the US Gov't job to police the world." It is specifically about the repeating history of the US engaging in unjustifiable interventions in foreign countries to protect the interests of the wealthy and powerful, all the while ignoring real needs at home, and we the citizens allow ourselves to be fooled again and again into supporting these unethical and misguided interventions.
@WayTooMuchPressure I would argue that this song goes MUCH farther than simply "it's not the US Gov't job to police the world." It is about the way we have repeatedly engaged in unjust interventions to protect the interests of allied billionaires, while real needs here at home go unaddressed, and the population is consistently duped into supporting these unjustifiable interventions.
I had only heard parts of the album. I love Rise and Stand up, but this just might be one of my favorites. I absolutely love it, thought there are parts of it I disagree with I absolutely adore the fact that they are politically active and socially aware. They are really intelligent people.
why not its not as if theyre gonna win the fight against the money. Saying stop the war in iraq wont stop the war in iraq just like saying legalize weed wont leqalize weed. doesnt really matter.
are u kidding me? prohibition doesnt work & over a million people are jailed every year for simple personal consumption.. sick & dying people are being raided & jailed because their medicine is illegal.. this is a major injustice. dont be so shallow minded & start caring about others
I agree this is a damn good one but most powerful song is still handlebars. This is my other favorite though, I blasted it in my car at a red light next to a guy with a McCain bumpersticker. He was pissed and gave me a look. lol lol It was the rap part that starts are we ready to make change.I love it!
I looked up the people at the end of the song and most are leaders of South American countries and head figures of the ongoing fight for ours and others civil rights. I highly recommend finding the lyrics, and looking up those folks on Wikipedia. Get learned.
you know what try reading something that is an "open book source" Hugo Chavez is a moron is government is corrupt and who ever's fault it is he isn't changing anything and he's a fucking idiot
Thanks Flobots, for mentioning Oscar Romero, defender and saint of the people with no voice. "THE PEOPLE UNITED WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED" "El pueblo unido jamas sera vencido"
wow.. i live in Venezuela.. i totally understand him.. No one in america understands how is the life in here.. Where EVERYWHERE is 2 times worst than the bronx.
LilBlick, I think we're both half right. I agree, attacks like the first WTC bombing were primarily caused by our alliance with Israel. However, regarding the 9/11 attacks and the attacks on our embassies in Africa, they more directly resulted from our stationing of troops in Saudi Arabia following the Afghani-Soviet conflict and the Persian Gulf War. Osama and crew considered our continued presence there a major offense to their religion and retaliated accordingly. I could go on for hours...
crap, I think the first part of my message didn't post. In that case what I just put will make no sense, and I don't feel like retyping it right now, I'll do it tomorrow.
ok in response to skimarcus from below, they dont hate us because we left some soldiers over there, they hate us because when we were originally foudned we were founded as a christian nation who muslims hate in the first place, and then, we are allies of Israel and help them out, so they have two reasons to hate us, and yes, if we hadnt of sent soldiers over there and had been passive toward the terrorists, they would have kept attacking
...our image in the middle east. Luckily, the surge has calmed things down, so now we need to work on reshaping our image through...gasp...talking to people rather than shooting them.
Entitlement is exactly the issue. War wouldn't be needed if humans didn't see themselves as entitled to own the world. Look at Evolution, when we tell it, everything ends with humans. Like we're the grand end of evolution. But we're not. Our society is flawed in that we think the rules of nature don't apply to us. Read the book Ishmael, it will explain everything much better than I can.
you should look into Bill Hicks. What you said reminds me of this quote of his:
Folks, its time to evolve. Thats why were troubled. You know why our institutions are failing us, the church, the state, everythings failing? Its because, um, — theyre no longer relevant. Were supposed to keep evolving. Evolution did not end with us growing opposable thumbs. You do know that, right? Theres another 90 percent of our brains that we have to illuminate.
As opposed to religion. My view is philosophical. We cannot define war for the term is too broad, the reasons boil down to a nation who is composed of thousands of opinions and mind sets. Surely you blame the one who ordered the attack but surely the reason for that boils down to the actions of many. Just my opinion - no confliction with religion
i think these guys have some really good messages in there music but honestly the whole "war is evil" thing i just cant understand yes we do a lot of messed up things but do you honestly think the terrorists out there would just sit around if we wernt over there? do you think that if the teriorests took over america you would have the right to think what you wanted about our goverment?
h420okah...the whole reason we were attacked was because after we helped Afghanistan fight off Russia, we left troops over there. These were seen as an occupying force and as an grave insult to the Afghanistans. That led to resentment against the Americans, allowing people like Osama to focus extremist forces against America. So yes, if we weren't over there, they would have left us alone. Now we've got ourselves in a world of shit, and continuous military force is not going to help ...
nothing good as come from this war. My brother is dead, and over what, Oil? and now iran, russia, saudi arabia, everyone angry at us. I'm proud to be an american =P
well actualyl ti stillw asnt needed hitler didnt have tog o to war he could have ruled his own country and not gone to war with the world but i understand what ay saying ;) lol
no offense but i respectfully disagrre this is there best song. but before anybody says oh well your a hater to me its just an opinion but this song is good
I was gunna only buy some of their songs from itunes...you know only my fav. b/c its like $25 for whole cd...but I CANT CHOOSE!!! well, who cares?!?! its sooo worth it
just saying what i think. i dont think that one song is better. they are all equal and have meaning. but thats my opinion. to some people one has more meaning.

"We need money for healthcare and public welfare"
If they understood how contradictory this was to everything else, they would have left it out. Same thing with the "Hugo Chavez" reference.
It is the socialism that has seeped into our country that is pitting us against each other, the haves vs. the have-nots.
The sad thing is that it's by design, and it wont' stop until we turn into something like China. 21st century fascist state.

@XzxVidJudgexzX I think the Flobots have enough integrity that they wouldn't be changed by a lot of fame. Their message would be heard by a much larger base. It's one thing to be famous, another thing entirely to sell out.

juicehalo 1 year ago
@juicehalo you're retarted... weed was never "placed" on any large scale by the government. and they don't make money by sending people to jail, it COSTS money... the government would save millions of dollars by legalization. but they never "placed" it in urban communities.
sk88rdude999 1 year ago
@sk88rdude999 yah, catch up on some history man. 1980s, thats EXACTLY what they did.
juicehalo 1 year ago

I think this is definitely Flobots' best song. Fuck Handlebars.
LegendShark 2 years ago
I actually agree with you on that last part. I don't think this is their best, but Handlebars sure as Hell isn't. It's really good though. I think either Stand Up and Fight With Tools are their best.
Nickness213 2 years ago 4
uhh No. Here they say the stuff explicitly but that's not hard. The hard part is saying it under the lyrics, with hidden meaning so it requires much time to listen and understand, instead of just being the same cliche or "same things" over and over.
Moiez101 2 years ago
... I meant their best sounding song.
LegendShark 2 years ago
Or that! Sorry haha. I guess the sound just comes down to personal taste but their songs aren't about sounding good, we leave that to the mainstream music these days. Their songs are about the message, and that's why people like you and me listen to it!.
Moiez101 2 years ago
Yeah I'll admit the lyrics here is pretty much straightforward, but when I listen to it it pumps me up!

ecartboy 10 months ago
@WayTooMuchPressure I would argue that the message of the song goes WAY beyond simply "it's not the US Gov't job to police the world." It is specifically about the repeating history of the US engaging in unjustifiable interventions in foreign countries to protect the interests of the wealthy and powerful, all the while ignoring real needs at home, and we the citizens allow ourselves to be fooled again and again into supporting these unethical and misguided interventions.
BigJ719 7 months ago
@WayTooMuchPressure I would argue that this song goes MUCH farther than simply "it's not the US Gov't job to police the world." It is about the way we have repeatedly engaged in unjust interventions to protect the interests of allied billionaires, while real needs here at home go unaddressed, and the population is consistently duped into supporting these unjustifiable interventions.
BigJ719 7 months ago
I had only heard parts of the album. I love Rise and Stand up, but this just might be one of my favorites. I absolutely love it, thought there are parts of it I disagree with I absolutely adore the fact that they are politically active and socially aware. They are really intelligent people.

I could go on for hours...

ok in response to skimarcus from below, they dont hate us because we left some soldiers over there, they hate us because when we were originally foudned we were founded as a christian nation who muslims hate in the first place, and then, we are allies of Israel and help them out, so they have two reasons to hate us, and yes, if we hadnt of sent soldiers over there and had been passive toward the terrorists, they would have kept attacking

now saying that i agree alot of the sys is corupt but i personally believe that war, unfortunately is somthing that will be needed.
despite all that, that is still the great thing about america EVERY1 is entilded to there own opinion =D
h420okah 3 years ago
Entitlement is exactly the issue. War wouldn't be needed if humans didn't see themselves as entitled to own the world. Look at Evolution, when we tell it, everything ends with humans. Like we're the grand end of evolution. But we're not. Our society is flawed in that we think the rules of nature don't apply to us. Read the book Ishmael, it will explain everything much better than I can.
msemrow816 3 years ago
the moment I read your second sentence I knew you were referring to Ishmael.
yrael08 3 years ago
you should look into Bill Hicks.
Theres another 90 percent of our brains that we have to illuminate.
maraudingchimpanzee 2 years ago 3
As opposed to religion. My view is philosophical. We cannot define war for the term is too broad, the reasons boil down to a nation who is composed of thousands of opinions and mind sets. Surely you blame the one who ordered the attack but surely the reason for that boils down to the actions of many. Just my opinion - no confliction with religion
8halfnhalf8 2 years ago
i think these guys have some really good messages in there music but honestly the whole "war is evil" thing i just cant understand yes we do a lot of messed up things but do you honestly think the terrorists out there would just sit around if we wernt over there? do you think that if the teriorests took over america you would have the right to think what you wanted about our goverment?
h420okah 3 years ago
h420okah...the whole reason we were attacked was because after we helped Afghanistan fight off Russia, we left troops over there. These were seen as an occupying force and as an grave insult to the Afghanistans. That led to resentment against the Americans, allowing people like Osama to focus extremist forces against America. So yes, if we weren't over there, they would have left us alone. Now we've got ourselves in a world of shit, and continuous military force is not going to help ...
skimarcus 3 years ago
