The audio on the DVD release is a total disaster. Whoever 'remastered' it should be flipping burgers, not working with audio. All the ambient sound is gated to silence while all the dialogue is piercingly loud and shrill. It pretty much ruins the film.
Disturbing premise...but at least it's got quite an original story. And it seems to be a technically well made film. Think of how freaked out 1976 audiences must have been when it was first released....today's audiences are sadly more jaded. THANKS for sharing this fascinatin' footage with us, along with your insightful comments!
It's quite possible this inspired Stephen King to write that short story, especially since this film came out in 1976, one year before Children of the Corn first appeared. It is indisputably one of the best movies I've ever seen, both frightening and fascinating. Stephen King, for his part, made just as good of a short story along the same lines. Those seven terrible movies made from the story, however, are completely different.
I can't see how that dumbass of a cop at the end could think that the guy was the killer when he was the one bleeding and being swarmed by a bunch of kids.
Was that really such a dumb thing for him to do? He sees sweet, innocent children being killed and maimed by an adult- I probably would have done the same in his position. The children bled plenty, if you forgot- when the officer shot Tom, there was much more blood in the water from the children he'd killed than from him. Remember the film's title- after all, Who Can Kill a Child?
Once again, I heavily doubt I would have sided with Tom in his situation. There was little time to sit there and think it through, and as the movie shows again and again, adults will always presume the children to be innocent over the adult, should the two be in conflict. The officer realized his mistake soon enough, but by then it was far too late.
haha great review. wasnt sure if i should watch this but i believe i will now. thanks

Yeah but the guy was the one screaming for help, also the children were swarming him, I'm pretty sure that should send off a little red flag.
