  • nice clowns and xenia.how do you get your xenia to open like that?just bought my first xenia on friday and it was doing good in my tank and come sunday morning it's closed up....my parameters are good but is there something i need to add in the water to make my xenia open and pulse?thanks

  • hi i just bought 1 yesterday and was wondering how long will it take for my clowns to host it or should i buy an annmone?

  • @vijomyda

They might never host. Wild caught clown fish are the most likely to start hosting. These are home bred clowns, and it took them almost a year to start hosting.

  • helloo , do they damage the xenia?????

  • @derek15476

    Hi Derek,

No, they don't damage the Xenia at all, because it's a soft, hardy coral, it isn't affected by the clown fish, even though they can be quite rough. The only time they're likely to cause any issues is when they start to mouth at it, just before breeding, but again, it won't damage it permanently.

Hammer Head, Torch, and other hard structured/soft head corals can be quite badly damaged by hosting clowns though, as they're susceptible to brown jelly disease.
