Yeah mine have done this and they are in a bowl!! No plants just a small bowl gravel and a no fishing sign. I have removed both the blackmoor and fantail (it was easier then trying to remove the eggs) because the fantail was trying to eat the eggs not the blackmoor. I was gobmacked, I thought this couldn't happen and certainly not in a tiny bowl!! Haha
My black moor just chased my fantail just like that. My fantail is still really small and my moor is medium sized. The fantail didn't seem to mind, though.
stupiddd add moreeeeeeeeeee plastic plantssss dont use taj mahalll it may injure gold fishhhhhhhhh plant plastic plants in one corner with spaceeeeeeeee
A pearlscale is a different breed from a fantail. That fish does not have the 'pearl scales' that are characteristic. It does look like a hybrid between the two.
hey my gold fish is kinda long about 3 inch and i dont know if he is mating i got 8 gold fish in 10 gallon tank and its chasing the other not black moor though but he chases them and nudges the gold fishes in stomach it even does that to my tiger koi are they fighting or mating plz plz plz reply quickly!
Haha same thing is happening to me!! I have a juvenile Black Moor and Calico Ryukin. I honestly thought they were too young to even develop secondary sexual characteristics, but now I know my black moor is female and my ryukin is male, cause he's been spawn chasing the moor for the last couple days! How exciting! I had no clue they would even bred between species but your video is proof that I'm not imagining things! Sweet!
Sonny always chased Ozzie, Ozzie was a pretty fat fish had we think he died because he couldent deliver her eggs or she had Dropsy :(I bought a new fish yesterday a Lion head which I called Bailey, Sonny never leaves Bailey alone they get along well but I think Sonny annoys her alot.. I heard u can feed fish lettuce I might try it How many times a week can u do it and how much do you use?
my female redcap oranda fantail goldfish the will spawn but when they aren't spawning with her chaseing her around the tank she will shake her tail at the boy fish's it drives them nutz she takes of swimming away from them she a big tease she knows what turns them .
i have a golden fantail and a black moor in a big bowl with a filter. i have no clue if they are opposite sex but i want them to spawn. though mine are no where near the size of yours so i dont think they are large enough yet.
i have a golden fantail and a black moor in a big bowl with a filter. i have no clue if they are opposite sex but i want them to spawn. though mine are no where near the size of yours so i dont think they are large enough yet.
can you tell me how long it took for your fry to hatch? i have a moor that spawned with my shubunkin and oranda but they are in my pond so i cant typically see them,,,was wondering how long it would be before i might see fry
sweet! i have two fantails. im probably going to get some black moors when im more experienced. its kinda weird that they eat their own eggs. i think one of mine is pregnant. they are both females (i think) but one mated with ones in the pet shop.
Goldfish don't actually mate in the same way mammals do. They will spread their eggs all over the place and the males have to fertilize them once they are out of the female. If they are both females, they may have eggs but they likely won't release them. If one does release eggs, it's likely the other one is a male. Good luck:)
what do i feed my fan tail and moore babys? im not really sure if its mating with the moore coz all the other fan tails start following the mother aswell
Well, I'm impressed! Normally my goldfish spawn by swimming next to each other, with the male slightly under. I had a moor and he always had its head up my fringetail's butt, whether she was laying or not. Nasty little bugger he was.
My black moors spawned too recently and it looked similar to this.Only quite a bit more aggressive.
In my case, the male is considerably larger and a much faster swimmer than the female.
He kept pushing the poor fish into every single corner and decoration, even against the gravel. Result: damaged eye (fully recovered since then) and 23 beautiful goldfish fry
I also noticed that my moors did not eat any of the eggs. They did eat the fry that were left in the tank though.
Yeah they'll eat the eggs and fry. We have 2 baseball (a little smaller maybe) size black moor that spawned about 6 months ago, or so. In our set up (not optimal) two fry grew out. One was a tripod and the other has nice tail seperation and is looking to be another real nice fish. He's getting huge. You can just see in the way he grows he'll be a big one. But, the female is bigger than the male so it was ok. He couldn't push her around so much. But, they do for sure. Beautiful fish tho.
@Piscopamipe Sorry to burst your Bubble Pisco, but That is exactly how Goldfish mate. The male chases the female around the tank trying to push her to the surface of the tank and get her to release eggs so the male fish can "fertilize", for lack of a better word. You are correct on one thing tho, Most Goldfish do eat their Young.
is it true that goldfish and black moor can breed together i know that if they are both male or both female the bigest will eat the other but if not they will lay eggs and do fish eggs float and are they red or opach white
Why wouldn't they get fertilized? They are both goldfish, the same species. It's no different than short-haired black cat and a long-haired orange cat.
you should get rid of that castle in the tank because it looks sharp and can hurt ur Black Moor when he's swimming around with his delicate googly eyes
thanks:) I think it was about 72-73 when they spawned. It had been cool in the room all winter because my window leaked so they went for a couple of months with the water temp hovering around 67-69F. When the temp went up they started going at it and continued for about 3 months.
wow i thought my fish were attacking each other except i have a moore and ... something eles lol it looks like a tiny calico koi but i bought it from walmart lol
its gonna be hard to get babies out due to the rocks lol, when my goldfish spawn i place them in an tank with nothing in it,so its easier to keep track of the eggs
He actually never tried to eat any of the eggs, it was the female I had to watch because she'd turn around after laying the eggs and eat them before they'd landed.
The eggs got removed after they finished mating about an hour later.
lol that's really freaky to have happen, eh? and if any eggs survive, be sure to move them from the tank to a separate clean tank (by clean I mean clean it quite often). When they are hatched, feed something small like brine shrimp, and small pellets will work as they soften the fry can eat them.
those white dots r known as tubercles. but using that to sex goldfish (whts known by professional breeders as "star-searching") is a very inaccurate and rather time-specific technique
a better way to sex goldfish is to see the size of the anal sphinct. Females have concave sphincts while males have convex sphincts. also the sphinct is slightly larger in the females. this is a ready & sure-shot way of finding males & females among goldfish
heard that too but it didn't work with mine. I'll take your word for it.
The sphincters are only really comparable in breeding fish too and it's very difficult to compare them if the fish are different sizes. Fish also have a tendency to look at you, making it really annoying to try to look at their back end.
My black moor has since passed and I just used body weight (or appearance thereof) to find another male and it worked. I know this doesn't work in all cases either but it worked for me.
yeah i guess thats true. sorry to hear abt ur moor, he seemed to have great potential. i guess each potential breeder has to try different ways to get success in breeding goldfish. there never really is any ONE single way :) even i have often used appearance to tell males from females in pet shops.
thx. It worked out I think, the new boy is super cute:) Though I really did like my moor.
yeah, they're little buggers to figure out. At least they have some small differences. There's a few fish (oscars to name one) that don't have any so it's a crap shoot when you go to the pet store, lol.
thanks a lot,...do u have a "sistem" to recognize male and female especcialy fro fancy goldish? I mean something that u re sure when u re at the petshop and want to get them.... thank and sorry for my english, I'm from italy
I'm not sure. I know that when the males are ready to breed they develop little white dots on thier gills and pectoral fins. But they won't necessarily have those in the pet store.
The females tend to be a little fatter than the males and the anal fin is different somehow, but it's really hard to tell unless they are breeding.
Yeah mine have done this and they are in a bowl!! No plants just a small bowl gravel and a no fishing sign.
