I just discovered Rammellzee from The Book of Hip Hop Cover Art and I am so amazed! This is so unbelievable for its time and still sounds fresh today.
DJ for 11 years. Didn't know about this song until after I knew about Samo and Rammellzee. I have 2 copies of the instrumental on vinyl: Beastie Show breaks by Mixmaster Mike. Great! Great New York old school hip hop!
i used to have this song on cassette and my radio ate the tape. I was pissed, because this is one of my favorite rap songs that was played here in Chicago at every hip hop party I attended. And u just don't here these sort of classics any more. I searched for hours on youtube trying to find this song, and found it! Much love to the uploader, Peace! LJ
An absolute gem which I was introduce to 25 years when style wars got released. Still listen too very regularly.... Boy I wish I was 14 again... LOL!!1
Man i am so glad someone finally put some rammell on here. His music was so far ahead of the times during 1983. This is some organic pure shit. RIP Rammell
Another hip-hop legend bites the dust. Although you're gone, your 49 years of influence will live on through The Beastie Boys and Cypress Hill along with your game changing artwork, graffiti, and sculptures. With rainy eyes, rest in paradise RAMMΣLLZΣΣ.
...*RIP my brilliant brother in Hip Hop. You are truly a legend and a master craftsman! Thanks for sharing your wise-dome, art, math, history & science with us! Rock on my brother! You will always be a supreme equation...
3:06 - "Long finger nail at the end of my tip of my pinky cocaine make a slip in my lip." ha haaa. i waz not expecting that shit. but that line had maddddddd FLOW. i'm 21 and shippin' through some classic old school tracks to hear them..... I listen to mostly all mid/late 90's hip-hop, pac, nas, wutang, pun, big L.... not really into too much ol' school, but I think this track is much better than some of the other later 80's stuff I heard.
@MyLoveAmerica, don't worry bout the other peeps in your generation, because you are one step ahead of them!! Keep on rockin old school style my brotha!!!
@insidejerk Hey, does anyone else notice that this song sounds like Vanity 6's Nasty Girl!!!??? I wonder if this cat got paid for his beat being jacked???
I like to thank all my fans who appreciate real hip-hop. Remenber it comes from the heart. Get funky in the place. Yo Ram, what's up. Every one tries to bite each other nowadays. We use to have alot of fun.
