Underoath's They're Only Chasing Safety, the first album with a really post-hardcore sound to it, came out before Son, I Loved You At Your Darkest. Both bands are good. Both bands are post-hardcore. Stop being ignorant. And if you want to be truly correct, As Cities Burn sounds like Underoath due to the fact Underoath came first. Get it right. :)
You know to those of you who say they sound like Alesana (even though they sound nothing like them) or the rest of there stuff is not good all I have to say is its a shame that you cant appreciate how musically awesome this band is just cause they change there sound or took out there screamer. This band has done more for me spritiually, and personally than any band on the face of this planet ever has. Despite their genre or classification, only a handful of bands out there have that kind of impact on people. They are musical greats!
What I like about As Cities Burn is that their screamo sounds just as good as their newer indie-alternative feel. They make both genres remarkably honest and deep.
@ISMFOFrank0u0 1st of all get it right, they dont play screamo they play post hardcore. they don't use breakdowns because breakdowns are unoriginal and every harder band uses them now, for christ sake, disturbed has breakdowns. theyre not bad at all, infact they're one of the best bands you're going to ever hear. they're far more original than the music you call good which is probably attack attack and asking alexandra.
@showmeiwaspoor Attack Attack's new sound actually impresses me. They sound heavier, and no Auto Tune. Asking Alexandria is alright. But I mean, all Breakdowns aren't all the same but some people can get used to it. Some music you just can't grow out of and find new music. I listen to everything. Including Country and Bluegrass, there's nothing left for me to listen to.

I'll never forget I went to an Underoath concert in this hole-in-the-wall club on my birthday like 2 - 3 years ago and As Cities Burn opened the concert with Bloodsucker Pt. 2 and I was like "holy poo! who are these guys!?", after the concert I went straight home and downloaded their album, I still can't believe I was moshing to this song live in concert. I wish I would've known them prior, it would've been twice as awesome!

You should all shut the fuck up. The term "emo" comes from "Emotional Hardcore", as in Hardcore Punk. It was characterized by more "aggressive" vocals. Or otherwise, screaming. Go listen to Rites Of Springs, good example of a true emo band.

HARDCORE, not metal, just because there's distortion and screaming/shouting/growling/whatever doesn't mean those who listen to it thinks it's metal. AND if you want some "real" death metal, look at Cynic, Veil of Maya, Born of Osiris, or Atheist, and if you already have, then just grow up and accept the fact that your opinion is not God.

I'll never forget I went to an Underoath concert in this hole-in-the-wall club on my birthday like 2 - 3 years ago and As Cities Burn opened the concert with Bloodsucker Pt. 2 and I was like "holy poo! who are these guys!?", after the concert I went straight home and downloaded their album, I still can't believe I was moshing to this song live in concert. I wish I would've known them prior, it would've been twice as awesome!

You should all shut the fuck up. The term "emo" comes from "Emotional Hardcore", as in Hardcore Punk. It was characterized by more "aggressive" vocals. Or otherwise, screaming. Go listen to Rites Of Springs, good example of a true emo band.
