  • Yeah, I'd say it's a sub-standard track all right! I've never seen a locomotive bounce like that!

  • railfans.. :') get a a life fuck heads

  • the train was bouncing

  • The sad thing about these 70M's is that all three are down here in Binghamton rotting away in a storage line with SD40's & some other NYSW power

  • Wicked!!! Love it!!!

  • great catch!

  • Wow! Great Catch! I agree, K3LA.

  • That is rather fast for sub-standard track. But cool either way.

  • This part of the line is continuous welded rail, but the maximum authorized speed from the north yard limits of Palmer to MP 162.2 is 55/40 regardless of whether a stretch is welded or jointed (provided permanent or temporary speed restrictions don't further limit speed).

  • I thought the NYSW has K5H's on their SD70M's?

  • 4050 & 4054 have K5LLAs and 4052 has an RS5T

  • @TNT314159 LOL an SD70M with an RS5T? Thatd be awesome!!

  • Actually its a pretty bad horn, at least when I heard it last year :P

  • @TNT314159 Did you get a video?????

  • @Seaboard1321 No, the NYS&W B40-8s had K5Hs and were beautiful sounding. Alas, these units were on a 15 year lease and have been long returned to CSX.

  • @llokuta I knew the B40-8's where on lease, just didnt know how long. Ive heard Susquehanna's F45's with K5HR24's before, so I was just guessing. What did they come with when they got them new?

  • @llokuta Oddly enough, four of them are now on the Providence and Worcester as their 4001-4004. They were originally NYSW 4004, 4008, 4006 and 4002 respectively.

  • @CRQ5508 I'll be up at Foxwoods next week (7/5 and 7/6). What are the prospects for catching something over on the NECR by Mohegan Sun? Maybe I'll even see the ex-NYS&W B40s???

  • @llokuta I have no idea about that area to be honest. The only time I've ever seen the Providence and Worcester is when they come up to New Hampshire on coal trains. I've never railfanned the NECR for that matter either. Not since I was a kid. The B40s and B39s can be found almost everywhere on the PW system, so you never know. During the week, you have better luck catching something.

  • Sounds like a K3LA or a K3HA

  • Guilford is a joke they had a chance to pickup 16 sd60 units ex-up cnw but being tight wade's the disregarded it .You see the power they have worn out Canadian gp40-2w units and a fleet of fornout gp40 units. The patriot corrdor wont help them they operate just like Mcginnis changce the name slap on some paint and we have a new railway.

  • Very nice! But they are doing well over 40mph. Thats gotta be about 60.

  • Thank you, but nope track speed for freights is 40 and that train was loaded so even with the SD70M and Dash-8 they couldn't have been doing 60 if they wanted to

  • amazing, and still with NYSW number and lettering

  • Awesome video 5*****

  • Awesome vid. Why doesn't Guilford move this fast? On the MBTA Haverhill Line it seems like they hardly ever go faster than 25 mph ON SHORT TRAINS. The longer ones go even slower. It doesn't make sense because the track speed must be around 60 mph because the commuter rail and downeaster really get moving. After they clear Lowell Junction I wish they'd pick up the pace.

  • That's because all Guilford's power sucks :P actually I've wondered that myself. I know the track speed from Ballardvale to Bradford is 60MPH, but Guilford never moves anywhere close to that speed.

  • haha. Yeah I've often heard Guilford doesn't maintain their equipment very well. I almost always see Guilfords in Andover so I don't know if they speed up at all after that but they certainly could move at a pretty good clip all the way to Portland. I have a video of Guilford trains in the late 80s and there was a clip of one flying over the bridge at Haverhill at about 40 mph. I was so suprised.

  • If they're moving too slow, take a video and then speed up the video :P

  • haha. Good idea!

  • Man, they were moving! Awesome video 5* great K5LA and good to see the yellow SD70M's still in use since they got rid of em on the NYSW. Here's hoping they get the cowl 45's up there too!

  • Thanks Kyle!

  • 1:00 - You're suppose to sound your horn as you go through the crossing, not after you've passed it.

  • That's true. The two crossings in Cushman Corner are very close together. I guess the engineer tried to fit in a long-long-short-long, a small hornshow, and the next long-long-short-long, but the last long ended up after he already passed the grade.

  • NICE!

  • Good Job baby!

  • oh, well, you need to get the 4 trains a day, lol

  • Two of em are the Vermonter trains which are always the same. The other two are NECR which don't tend to stick to an exact schedule and usually come when I have classes. I was really lucky to get this train and Susie-Q, I got a heads up from someone in NH who saw the train going south.

  • that line doesnt get much use does it?

  • Not as much as I'd like. 4 trains per day Monday - Saturday and 2 trains per day Sunday. Other sections of the line have more activity though.

  • Great Shot!

  • It's Amazing How Fast They Go Through Here. It's Interesting How They Stalled On The Hill With Dry Rails!

  • I thought so too, the cars must have been really loaded down.

  • Very cool.

  • Sweet, K5LA or K5H?

  • Thanks, most likely a K5H, but I'm not 100% sure.

  • awsome horn!!

  • Sweet shot!

  • Great horn.

  • Nice SD70M!!!
