J.D's Brother adopted him. Russell. Russell and J.D had a cousin name Frank Sumner and was Donnie's son. The answer is yes they are blood realted.

don't you just love these guys ( and girls) they're just so honest and transparent. God bless Donny for having the guts to tell his story. As to the comment that Elvis wasn't strong enough to make the testimony of accepting Jesus - well none of us is strong enough , that's why we need Jesus.We don't know what dealings he had with the Lord in the moments before he died and as the same person said 'we won't know until we get to heaven'.

Donnie - don't know if you will ever read this. I saw the beginings of your drug use at the music school in '72. Then you were no longer with the Stamps. I prayed for you for years, wondering if you had been snatched away by drug use. It has only been recently that I found out that God had cleaned you out and again you were serving HIM. Praise His Name!

It very sad Elvis wasn't able to make it through his bottom. I think instead of people focusing on what happened to Elvis, they should focus on the fact that EVEN Elvis feel victim to a deadly disease. This devil doesn't care who you are or what you have. If you let him in he'll rob you of your life if he can. Thank God Donnie was able to turn his will over to God before it was too late. What a message of hope this is. Thank you for posting it.

Wow, I haven't cried like that since my dad passed away. I can also relate to Donnie. That was also God's Will for me to see this. I need all the help and reminder I can get in order for me to get another day clean and sober. "Religion is for those afraid of going to hell, spirituality is for those who have already been there". Just a quote by someone I agree with and relate to. It's funny how I just assumed these guys couldn't know the hell people like me have been through. Wow was I wrong!

I'm so bessed by what the Lord did in this man's life, and the humble spirit of gratitude. This guy would be a great interview for Bill O'Reilly or Mike Huckabee (Elvis fans), especially in light of the sad Michael Jackson saga. Folks need to know that even a 'king' needs the Savior. I pray the Lord opens many doors for Donnie to share the hope in Jesus Christ.

I love this man. Oh, for some reason it feels like he is the dad I never had. When I listen to Donnie, I relate to all that he says. He touchs my heart like none I have ever heard. I have suffered a little of the pain that he has, not for the same reasons, but pain is pain.
