Hello, do you find that it's better to conform 59.94 footage to 24P first and then import it to After Effects to further slow it down with Twixtor or work with 59.94 footage directly? Thanks
At 2:08 what are the key-strokes/menu to “interpret” footate? 2:32 map speed, what’s that…sorry just trying to follow your cursor and having a hard time. At 4:00 you are prepping for a 1080P project, I think I know what that means, but as for color and moiré correction is this always necessary? I use Cineform NeoScene (latest) to convert .mov to .avi. Thanks.
Please explain what you are doing at 1:09 You say we are going to take this clip here and we are going to export that…so you are simply selecting a portion of the entire clip right? Seems you are using some hot keys can you please explain in detail? And what did you export it as? I find it odd that you record 1280X720 60P and bring that into Vegas with a 720 24P project and then export it as 1080 24P. Anyway what exactly do you export it as (formate/bitrate/etc.) for import into AE?
I'm trying to figure out the "chroma blur" for PP CS4. The closest I've been able to come is with the Channel Blur under "video effects" in the "blur &sharpen" subfolder. I'm not sure if that's correct. Anyone know what to do for Moire in PP CS4.
Hi can you help me ? I'm new user for Sony Vegas, and I have Canon 7D. I import the files but in the timeline the videos doesn't appears. I need to install any plugin ? Thanks
@vitao82 Try re-installing quicktime. If the footage is black, it is a quicktime issue. You can also upgrade your version of vegas to the latest version of 9 and it should also fix the problem.
Thank you very much for your insightful tutorials! I recently bought a 7d and your blogs have been the most useful by far. Could you give a lesson n using the 7d along with the zoom h4n.
thank you very much for all your help! I am an experienced shooter and I just purchased a 7D. I found your blogs to e the most useful, above and beyond everything else out there. Keep up the good work.
Also I was wondering if you have any tutorials for using the zoom h4n along with the 7d
Pixels are square, so when you have diagonal lines they can often appear jagged; this is called Aliasing.
You may have herd of the term Anti-aliasing (if you play pc games for example); which is the process of adding slight colour changes to the pixels directly adjacent to the diagonal lines (where the colour is interpolated from the surrounding pixels) which has the effect of making them look much smoother.
i believe you were not getting the most of the 60frames because in the twixtor plugin you left the input frame rate at 29.97 instead of changing it to 60 frames. just a thought you missed out half the frames thats why the cork just disappeared
actually I changed it to 23.97 because that is what I imported into After Effects. had I taken the native 60p file into after effects I would have changed the speed to 60 in twixtor. It just wasnt the best subject to try and slow down quite that far.
If you had imported the native 60p clip playing at 100% and applied twixtor at 60% you have not created super slow mo. You would have created slow motion at 60% which vegas itself can achieve perfectly. In fact any 60p footage can be slowed perfectly to 42% without applying frame blending of any type.
my timeline disappeared in AE lol. how do i get it back to where into the standard workspace? i go to the workspace where the tab is for standard but the timeline thing still dont show. =[
Do you get little glitches in the finished product? I think it happens after converting it to 300fps in after effects. It does it every # of frames like it skips.
If I'm going to After Effects and its small, I'll go uncompressed AVI to make sure I'm not adding extra compression. Also YUV AVI is also near uncompressed. If you really need the space, use 1080p 15mb Windows Media 9 compression. I cut that out of this clip because the screen capture program died when I tried to render with it in use.
T1i you would go from 30p to 24p then convert it. Or take the footage straight into After effects and slow it down. You can probably get good 120fps out of the t1i.

What are you doing here? Are you shooting in 60 p, and then playing it back in 24p to achieve the slow motion effect?

Hey mate, could you help me..
I shoot video by 7d but when I make it slow the around moving subject is blur..
for example a girl is running and when I slow it down, her lags hands and body is blur..
Is it about the Lens that I used?? I used f 50m 1.8..
Leephongsavanh 4 months ago
@Leephongsavanh its called motion blur, were you shooting at 60fps, 125 shutter speed?
if shot at those settings, you intend to make motion "blurry". it looks more natural to our eyes.
if you dont want motion blur, try shooting at a faster shutter speed. ie. 500 or 1000.

Thanks for these tutorials! Really fun too watch.
One tip:Put the twixtor plugin on a solid, an set the footage
as the "motion source" in twixtor. Then the duration is as long
as the solid.
rogerschalk 2 years ago
This may be a stupid question.
But, when you change the playback rate to .4, it also shortens the clip. How do you keep the clip from being shortened?
Also, the audio doesnt seem to be affected.
How can you enable the audio to play back at .4 as well? Thanks.
garreyf 2 years ago
Doesn't this mean that all your stretched 720p slow-motion footage in this 1080p project will be a little bit grainier/pixelated though?
jordini99 2 years ago
unfortunately you made that more confusing than it is.
simcontrast 2 years ago 25
@simcontrast Yep. But at the same time I covered slowing to 24p natively, and if you want to go slower you can then take it further into twixtor.
eyepatchentertainmen 1 year ago 2
so it is done just by software interpolation?
airdog77 2 years ago
