Yeah guys head needs to be flexed to start, if pt feels pn on hip ext and knee flex then could be femoral nerve, if pt then extends head to neutral or into extension and the pn disappears then definitely femoral nerve! By the way it's best to do the test with the pt in side lying, here you can really get good hip ext without any hip rotation when you carry out the test.
sorry guys but this is wrong, as you're not using a sensitiser so would therefore not be able to distinguish between muscle stretch and nerve stretch!
