  • OMG! Thank god! Intelligent rap, it does exist.

  • Greetings from Russia, Bomani D!

  • finally a man that doesnt look at the negatives and is responsible

  • its antione dodsonds long lost brother!!!!!

  • This is my first time hearing this song and I must say I love it already. This is a cd I need.

  • The AntiTrick movement starts NOW.

  • I wish this could get radio play, video play, SOMETHING!!! I am tired of dope dealers, hustlers, & murderers.... GIMME A POSITIVE MESSAGE PLEASE!!!

  • The world needs this. Why haven't I heard of this before? Kudos to you.

  • @MartinLutherCoon88 "grow ass nigga" that's a very intelligent thing to say

  • at first, I'd only seen that "read a book" video. I didn't know you made actual songs. this is good stuff.

  • ur good. n its a good mesage

  • Where the hell is your album, this is some real music.

  • I appreciate your existence.

  • Grown ass nigga is more like it.

  • Wow, I thought rap with a message was dead. I'm so glad I'm wrong.

  • Damn, nice to know there're still rappers out there is still rapping shit worth a damn and not Superman That Hoe. I'm white and live in a town and went to school where a good population of the folk were black and most were the most ignorant people I've ever met. But the others weren't all bad, they were some of the smartest people and knew what it meant to be a part of a community and not think that swag determines your worth and status. Keep doing what you're doin man.

  • THANK GOD there are still rappers worth a damn in the world.

  • good job mane check me out yo

  • 50K views, just in time for Grown Man Day!

  • Its a shame that black people NEED a video like this.

  • @apostate001 Fuck that, all people need a video like this. And apparently, especially you.

  • @Hukeyohi Statistics prove you wrong. That is why this black man made this video for other black people. Its why Bill Cosby has to tell black males how to be men. Its why Barack Obama tells black males how to be fathers. And, all three get attacked by the black community because they NEED it but don't want to hear it. I was raised right and I take care of my kid. I didn't need a song to tell me that.

  • @apostate001 True apostate. Statistics aren't all right.

  • @apostate001 you still don't see the point of my comment then.

  • @Hukeyohi Your "point" has no value and that is why I rightly ignored it. The balck community has generationaly had this same problem over and over and over and over. This is why responsible blacks continue to make these videos and make the comments that they do. You want to be PC. I live in reality and reality ain't pretty.

  • @apostate001 No, you conform to reality. You make statistics reflect what they say. You remain stagnate to 'facts' and yet refuse to change them yourself. All people need to wake up and realize that this world we live in is rightly fucked and the only people that can change it are the people living in it.

Fuck statistics, fuck all forms of segregation. The problem doesn't need fixing. It's the people who are broken.

  • @apostate001 I actually know lots of white people that need this video

  • Very, very cool.

  • This guy Bomani is great. I like his message and his style.

Also, I love the Dr. Martin Luther King mural.. where is that? Can we get some more wall paintings like that? Please?

  • i luv dat gron ass man sheeit man he sho bee purty two. l lax dis hea musai ands dat congo beet sheeit.

  • Download my "New Classic" Mixtape at notarapper(dot)com

    -Bomani

  • I am a 56 year old white man and I think this is awesome, the message and the talent.

  • @BomaniD Hey can you post the lyrics in the description here or link me to them?

This is such a badass song.

  • @anewtrend thanks for the love! you can find the lyrics and download by going to the music section of my website! (i tried posting the link but can't)

  • I LOVE Grown Azz Men!!!!

  • Not my Boyz!!! Oh hell!!!

  • this song is fire. we need more truth like this in the music industry! keep using your gift sir. :)

  • how does this guy not have an Album yet? yet Solja Boy has made millions of Dollars from straight up garbage

  • @MeetthePancake Cant blame solja boy, blame the people that listen to him

  • @MeetthePancake Because the people dont want shit that makes sense....

  • @Oristiumpier

I like how you're constantly calling out blacks.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe some people just don't have money to buy an entire suit?

I think it's an amazing presentation, to help reinforce his message.

  • I gotta say, as a black man, I agree with Oristiumpier. The styles we have evolved from times when we couldn't afford a whole set piece, and just went with what was available. the video itself was pretty good, he made with what he had, but I found the wordplay somewhat lacking. Despite that, though, the message came out clear and strong, and you have to appreciate an artist who will fly in the face of the entire music industry to try and spread something good through popular media.

  • @masochisticmessiah

Yeah, anyone, if they want it, can work to afford a nice wardrobe. among many other things. Personally, I managed to use the Internet as a valuable tool by applying for a college grant and loan, and I was able to attend a community college online.

  • legit. i wish more rappers had a real message about family and stuff.

  • Dude, you're fucking great, and I love your message. Keep it up mate.

  • lol YES

  • words of wisdom indeed. no wonder people hate this guy. he is single handed bringing back what the black man worked so hard to accomplish. how are you gonna be equal to what you worked so hard for if your just gonna throw it away on stupid childish shit?

  • I love the keyboards. You've got amazing sound behind some powerful words of wisdom.

Usually I'm a hater when it comes to the genre, but Bomani, you re-define it.

  • Bomani, you haven't just redefined it, you've rewritten the rules. I can't hear this without bursting into laughter and muttering "Why isn't there more of this guy..."

  • Highly agreed, and the reason why there isn't more is because most people have no idea what real music is these days. Hell, kids don't even give a damn that their idols are all sellouts just trying to make a buck that could give a shit less about their fans.

  • The world is in need of some grown ass man. I am lucky, I have one.

  • mmm intellectual women.

  • man, we need more grown ass men!!

  • You need at least one. That might start a trend.

  • This song reeks of responsibility and delayed gratification.

I love that smell in the morning.

  • sheeit man da sheet be some bad sheeit it be some smooth sheeit man sheeit i lacks that sheeit man sheeit man cause i is a gorwn ass man ans sheeit mans sheeit. yu knows what i says man sheeit?

  • becuz pur literacy is fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you and yo boys need to stop bein all sadity just because you read, write, know where yo kids and baby mama's are, don't be fuckin ho's and ain't got felony warrants before we run up on you!

no just kidding it's good to see someone out here fighting the idiocracy. I honestly stopped listening to hip hop because I thought it was just bubble gum teenage "I think I'm tough because I'm old enough to pee by myself" music but it's good to see someone using the genre for a real positive message.

  • Agreed.

  • Good message, nice flow, nice keyboards.

  • like cool man sheeit hell dam sheeit man sheeit yu no whats i shaying man sheeit

  • Damn why aren't you famous man?

  • he made the read a book video :P

  • I know

  • well I guess that makes him kind of famous, although I'd love to see him on tv with this video here instead lol

  • that beat is sick were can u find the instrumental

  • I generally dislike rap but this is incredible. His flow and attitude are great and the keyboard and bass are both siiiiick.

  • Watch out for this guy named "The Savior." His lyrics are real positive like this and his beats are blazzing hot.

  • I'm a grown ass woman

    love the message too

    keep doing your thing

    peace

  • I LOVE IT!!! We need more positive rappers! :)

  • he's what could be right in the US but with out the ass and cars he'll never get what he could

  • dudes skilled but the beat sucks

  • He's got my vote! go head D-Mite keep doin ya thang

  • The reason he doesn't get more play is because it sounds like Kenny-G mixed his beats. Not hatin, just saying, kids don't listen to beats like this. Nice to hear some original rappin though..

  • I saw your Twitter post about needing more views and followed the link. I dig it!

  • Why hasn't this man become the next positive role model like Tupac? Goddamn.

  • This is the most ricockulous thing I'm going to see today, and I can say this now despite their being 23:49 left in the day.

  • you don't like seeing intelligent black people? get off your ass and stop hatin..

  • 3 stars 2 bars

  • damn... really good!

  • @ Dokupenda

He's not more famous because he isn't wasting his time rapping about all the money he's got or how he's going to get a fully tricked out Bently/Caddy/ whatever. Because our country is so damned materialistic that the song "Whatever You Like" where it's all about "I got all this money I can give you ANYTHING come with me"...that shit pisses me off.

  • Why isn't Bomani more famous?

  • artist development

  • Love the message.

  • GENIUS

  • READ A BOOK OKAY???

  • knee grow please! LOL n

  • Don't ever compare Obama to MLK...... MLK was a great man who did many great things.... Obama has done abosulutely nothing for you guys to put them on the same level. I find it ignorant for so many people to place him with the likes of MLK, that is disgraceful.

I apologize for that, your song has a good message. And I loved "read a book" I know CNN gave you tons of problems for it, so a song that's real is treated like garbage but songs about killin and drugs are ok.America is ass-backwards!

  • Thank you, you are talking the truth. MLK did wonders for the world and the black race. Obama has started hope but still hasen't done anything yet. But i still have to thank Obama for running and winning the president title.

Great music guys. You guys shuld get credit for your songs. I love them all.

  • i feel what your saying

  • actually obama did something, rosa sat so martin could walk, martin walked so obama could run, obama ran so the rest of us coudl fly, spread ur wings and meet us in the sky

  • well said troy

  • what do you mean "you guys"? fuckin racist

  • Obama hasn't done anything cause he's been in office for a few fucking months. Give him some time to do shit. You can't fix the entire goddamn country in four months.

  • I wasn't attackin him I was attackin all the dumb people saying he's the greaest man to have ever lived when he hasn't done shit.... in four years if he's done everything he's said I will give him all the credit he deserves. But I find it asinine to compare this man to MLK and Jesus when as of yet he hasn't done anything.

  • I agree in due time let the man do what he has to do. Make us proud or make us hate you???? All in do time.

  • I like what you guys are doing, it's great that you are trying to make a positive impact in your communities and the lives of others, keep up the good work.

  • I appreciate this!

  • Comment removed

  • Bomani Armah has great intention and "Read-a-book" is an amazing piece of satire.

This song also has rather good lyrical meaning,

but the song is weak, the mix is bad, and you'll never reach anyone with something like this.

  • this shit is nice.

  • nice ...too bad bet wont play this...but the little kid hiphop

  • they played "read a book"

  • wow someone has some issues they need to resolve (points at duckirby) no offense, but thats the first time i have seen a song spur a long ass speech about presidential candidates, and ill tell you what happend to MLK's dream. he had a dream but obama had a reality.

  • good beat

    good song

    good shit

  • Lol well need to have bush back in office for another 4 years. He hasnt done anything wrong. If anything he has just had some bad shit happen to him. I mean the twin towers happened and what is he supposed to do? He did the right thing and attacked the problem. And if you say 9/11 was an inside job just dont bother writing back. And im not racist. My bro is married to a black lady and she is one of the nicest people ive met.

  • ...Do you know how ignorant you sound calling him Obama BinLaden? He is not a terrorist. He is an educated black man who has some good ideas. Now.. let's just see if he has the balls to stand up to the Washington Elite to enact them. As for you. get educated, or drown yourself. Either way is good for me.

  • 2008 was a terrible election. I'm hoping this moves the US past all this stupid racial issue crap.

A person's a person. an idiots an idiot. a statistic is a statistic. Most people are idiots.

I've never heard any statement that made me think obama was the right man for the job. Pre-Palin, I supported mccain. But neither candidates were good choices.

  • If both men were not to your likeing or like you said "but neither candidates were good choices" then why not support one of the many others they had? OH... DID YOU HEAR? THERE IS MORE POLITICAL PARTIES BESIDES THE REPPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS!? America is about freedom and that means the freedom to pick a leader(s) not just pick one or the other because the media outlets have blown them up and they say so.

  • I'm not an idiot. but there's no fucking point in voting for a 3rd party. at least not at the moment.

I didn't feel like completely invalidating my vote

  • Nobody said that you were an idiot... but Im glad to see you dont look down on yourself. When would it be an appropriate time to vote for a 3rd party? Think about how many people thought just as you did... "I didnt feel like completely invalidating my vote", You mean to tell me that you wanted your vote to count for something by voting for a person you really didnt want to vote for in the first place? Right... I see your point... thats not idiotic...

  • why out of all of the possible things to say on this comment post you post a comment that Bush should be back in ofice for another 4 years?

  • Love ya

  • i remember jamming to this at Busboys. that's what's up. i hope you keep on keeping on and get where you need to be. let the world hear ya, we need more grown ass men

  • It's too bad this isn't what our teens and young adults want to hear...white or black...I hope he keeps making music

  • I want to hear it. I love his stuff. There just isn't enough of it.

  • if you mean joking on kid acting dudes, then yeah.

  • yea i was in tha video too, or atleast sposed to be in it

  • Goddamn you learn to spell!!! SHIT!

  • i agree - learn how to spell ttakatt, you're just contradicting what Bomani believes in by being illiterate, and fuck, use punctuation.

  • this track is seriously incredible. ill beat. immense flow. please get in touch with me if you like what I do. I do the drums & productions. Consider it. stay awesome

  • Bomani done done it again! Do yo Grown Man ysht, Bomani!

  • You speak the truth. You are a genius. Break the cycle.

  • NO doubt. Lets raise MEN instead of kids trapped in a mans body.
