  • i got an problem i need to wire 4 leds to eachother need to put in switch in there where the hell do i need to break the circuit?

  • @mindharvester Do you mean that you are wiring the 4 led`s in series or parallel? In series you would connect positive to negative on all led`s and the switch could either be before the led`s or after dose not matter. In parallel hook all the positive together and all the negatives and just put the switch in before either the positive or negative wire wont matter which one as long as it breaks the circuit.

  • @FUzzyBUnnyBOoties i got them parralel 1 thin i have totaly no idea where to put it can you show me an step by step guide?

  • @FUzzyBUnnyBOoties it are leds

  • @mindharvester I will try to draw something in paint for you to show you what I mean.

  • @FUzzyBUnnyBOoties thx i will show you some pics when i am done with my case mod ty!!!!!!!

  • u can just chop the + wire and put one on the power and the over on the ground

  • @liamsgarage I had to wire them a little bit strange because some of the lights i was using were only 5v and I needed 12v to light the switches.

  • What size wire did you use? Can i just use the same wire gauge as a power molex off a power supply?

  • @potsie129 Yes you can use a molex wire or any old wire you have from a power supply will work. They are actually very low voltage draws so you dont need a very heavy gauge for it.

  • Can you do this with the logisys 15 inch cathode? They are sound activated, but I don't really care about sound activation.

  • @blowupuate13 Yes you can the hook up will be the same.

  • Hey man are your cathodes sound activated?

  • @Wubnig No but I wish they were. I didnt even think about that when I ordered them. The next ones I buy will be though. Or if I can just et the control box I will use it on these :-)

  • what kind of graphic card do uhave ??

  • @konnos123 I have 2 older EVGA 7800gt`s in that one.

  • i just bought two 12 inch and two 4 inch cathodes and your video is so simple to follow that when i can get some switches im going to do it.

    thank you so much.

  • @mastersniper13 Thank you. If you have any questions at all when you get your switches feel free to ask :-)

  • oh rit but the little blue box looks all complicated whats it for?

  • @bony339 That is the transformer that lights the light. It to used to make the right amperage for the lights to run on. And each transformer can run up to two lights. So you just plug the transformer into a 12 volt molex on your power supply and then plug the lights into the transformer. They are very easy to install.

and most light kits cost around $5.00 including one light and one transformer.

  • holy shit and i thought it was as simple as buying a cathode and plugging in your power supple to light up ur pc.. fuck it my pc will stay dark :/

  • @bony339 It is pretty much that simple. This is just if you want a way to turn the lights on and off so that they are not on all the time when the computer is running.

  • Thx i really like ur movies

U Have helped me alot for case modding.

Im 12 now and i have my first case modding project.

Maybe If i need some help i can send u message?

  • Thank you very much.

Feel free to ask any questions you might have.

  • would the power switch from a surge protector work to? i have lots of them laying around i dont use

  • It would work as a switch but it wont light up. They are 110v switches and these are 12v. So i dont know what kind of resistor they use for the led itself. Or what the rateing would be on them led`s.

  • oh and another question(smacks himself for forgeting)

how did u soider the wires to those small female connectors u bought at the store?(it looks closed,do u just put the wires in?)

  • They are just a crimp on connector. You just strip a little insulation off of the wire and stick it in them and crimp it down. With a pliers or a crimping tool if you have one.

  • hey i have a question, where did u get the molext connector from?a power supply or the one that comes with the cathoe(thats if it does come wit hone, which i heard it does)

  • It was the one that came with the cathode. I just cut the wires between the controller box and the molex plugin to go to the switch.

  • thanks for the response dude! u did a great job on the video!

but another question(s) i forgot to ask =p

what is there is only 2 pongs like it doesnt need ground but only power and on/the product?

and if thats the case(which it is)

what am i suppose to do with the black ground cable from the cable box

    thanks

  • For the switch to work it only needs the power coming in and the power going out to the light.

The light itself does need a power and ground to work. Just like any other light bulb. I just use the switch to open and close the connection to the 12 volt, Adding a ground to the switch is just to get the switch to light up. If you didnt want the switch to light then you could just run the power in and out of the switch and control your cathode like that.

  • soo i dnt have to soider the black ground cable(or do anythin with it)thats coming out of the cathoe box?

ur very smart and helpful dude thanks =)

  • Nope the two wires going to the control box are yellow 12 volt and the black ground. If you just want the switch to turn the lights on and off just cut the yellow and hook one end (the molex end) to the in (or source) on the switch and the other to the out on the switch and you are set. That is all you need to turn the light on and off. The only reason I used a ground on the switch was to get the led on the switch to light. It is not needed to trun the light on or off.

    Thank you very much

  • alright dude thanks alot ill messege u if i need anymore help

    thanks again

  • WOW that looks great!

  • Thank you very much.

  • great video, thanks for the explanation.

  • Your welcome :-)

  • awsome mod man i would like to do this in blue

  • Thank you Static.

I think you can get these switches in red, blue, yellow, green

  • Nice video fuzzy, I'll have to try this some time. I would like to have set of switches in front of my case to control my cathodes. Wiring things is a little intimidating to me. And you made it simple and easy for me to understand. Good video 5/5

  • Thank you Bud. It is not very hard at all. If you have any questions when you want to give it a try. Give me a shout I will be glad to give you a hand.

  • Thats good tutorial, keep up the good work!

    cHi

  • Thank you very much :-)

  • Thanks for making a video to help me out Fuzzy. I really appreciate it.

  • Your welcome Paul. It should be very similar to what you will be doing on your 1200.

  • Sweet-job well done:)

  • Thank you Evil :-)

  • great video man

    really helpful

    just straiten those switches HAHA

I like those switches compared to the ones tj harlow uses

I might do this if i have any time

  • Thank you.

You are right I know they are not straight. I need to grind out the hole a little more to get them in there better.

You can get these switches at any auto parts store or hardware store. And you can get them in almost any color.

  • because radioshack only had the duck bill ones tj uses

  • I dont think Radio shack carries anything automotive any more.

  • radio shack dosent carry anything anymore period
