Vehicles today emit less than 1/3 the emissions that they did 50 years ago. Technology has made enormous strides at reducing the carbon output.

Secondly, there is NO information to show that "global warming" is a threat to mankind. None.

You care about the planet? Do you really care? Then stop destroying forests to build more homes. Stop building more and more and more. The country is turning into a cesspool.

The climate changes all the time because we simply live on active planet. We have very little stake in our climate. Copenhagen or any other government sham will not stop hurricanes from forming, volcanoes from erupting, and the temperature from changing.

Even Kyoto only says that member nations have to reduce emissions to 1990levels. Not a whopping 83%.

Of course, I don't think many economists actually endorse the lofty goals in cap and trade legislation today. I mean, 83% reductions in emissions in just 40 years??? Unless our technology innovates 10fold in just the next 40 years, it's not happening. It's just not possible. Who told Obama or Waxman that 83% of all our carbon emissions can be reduced in just 40 years? I mean, Kyoto hasn't had much success in Europe! Only a few countries are close to meeting their goals.

The ones REALLY hurt by cap and trade would be small businesses. Big business will adapt to the new costs. After all, wasn't it big business over the years that's invested in efficient anti-pollution technologies on its own to reduce emissions?? They'll have even more incentive to do it and pass the credits onto other businesses that are having a harder time. Cap and trade is perhaps the most cost-effective of the anti-global warming regimes proposed right now.

I mean, Europe has had cap and trade with some success, after all. It's not some socialist scheme or any other nonsense that Larry Kudlow wants us to believe. Or the other idiots. Cap-and-trade is a MARKET-BASED anti-emissions effort! We can debate on the merits of it, but we should at least get the basics down. But one thing that's not debatable is the fact that the 'job losses' or 'rising energy costs' from it will be much lower, esp. with the credits and refunds n such, than some say.

I wouldn't read too much into Climategate. If all the denier conservatives latch onto something like this, you know it's probably full of hot air, and they're just being opportunists yet again. What EVIDENCE does Senator Inhofe have that global warming is "a hoax"? Look at the list of scientific organizations that agree that AGW is real!! Vs. those who disagree. And take out from those who disagree the ones who are funded or supported by industry. Then it's a much smaller debate.

Look up climategate, esp. on wiki, and you'll find tons of references and information showing that it's much more complex than they make it seem. It's not just a bunch of climate researchers all banding together in some conspiracy to defraud the public. I mean, there are 1000s, if not millions, of emails there. Some of those they deliberately take out of context, too.

It's not carbon emissions causing the the problem with air quality. There is an issue and the technology has been suppressed. Want to make a difference? Put solar panels on your house, the technology is there to provide more than enough power to run an entire household. This cost of this is very little and in the long term you save. Buy electric car, the technology has been here for 20 years but only now starting to see. Watch who killed the electric car. We dont need another TAX

that's what I've been saying for years - even if you don't believe that emissions are raising the planet's temperature, surely no one can think that pumping crap into our atmosphere can be a good thing. Not to mention, finite fuels are called that because they are finite - we're going to have to change energy sources at some point, why not start a gradual change now rather than having our hand forced further down the road.
