    Lol

  • I DON'T KNOW UNTIL THE OVERDRIVES, I T DIDN'T SOUND LIKE A GOOD TONE TO ME .. BUT IT'S YOUR TASTE. SO...

  • @dnnysrock why are you yelling!?

  • Why not just get a multi effects pedal like the digitech RP 1000? Less space is taken up by it

  • @Varmenthunter2 digital effects suck the 'real' tone out of your playing! I use to use digital multi-effects and amp simulation crap too...then I woke up! LOL! It's amazing how much more your tone and playing will breath when it's just your guitar, some decent analog effects and a good amp.

  • I love the toe pointing.

  • the 3 dislikes are weiners

  • You have the only pedalboard i have seen that does not have a single Boss pedal on it. Well done.

  • Very informative indeed. I'm gonna have to mess around with my multieffects pedal some more now that I know what to look for in sound :)

  • What pedal case its that !

  • Comment removed

  • i was watching another video and i saw this one, what i read was Playing throught my Pe...... dirty mind :D

  • Man i could never afford this... just the second pedal the multi effects one is $399

  • I love 14:47!!

    *Tap, miss*

    Eh... D:

    *Tap*

  • haha i have like 5 of these pedals only use two i have others that do the jobs better tho nd at the moment im usein a vox tonelabse witch does it alll well enough i find useing di boxs makes a pedal board work better u dont loose as much signal when bipassing some of the effects which helps wen use a rig like this especialy wen wanting a good clean recording

  • ....I just wish those digital pedals didn't convert your analog signal to digital. If you check out Strymon pedals, you will see some real quality digital pedals that process your signal parallel to your analog dry signal so you never get converted to digital (like having a parallel effects loop inside the pedal). It sounds nerdy and like it wouldn't make a big difference, but it does!!

  • @cosmogang It's really about taste. There's nothing wrong with digital...

  • I was waiting for you to stack your overdrives... I was let down when you didnt. Nothin better than a booster into an 808...

  • I like how you point with your foot.

  • I liked the tubescreamer a lot more than the maxon :O

  • Hey Dave, I understand that you use pedals to push your amp just a little bit harder. But say you wanted to go from a very clean sound to a crunch sound. Would you just step on one of your OD pedals, or would you switch channels on your amp first? Thanks so much!

  • I really dig those sounds. I have played clean jazz stuff forever, but now I am really starting to get into pedals

  • Dave, you should provide a disclaimer on the compression/clipping created by the video camera, which really kills the sound.

Don't get me wrong - I'm a fan of your playing, I'd love to hear that tasty setup nicely miced.

  • hey dave your a awesome guiatrist i ve got the steve vai dvd your instermental was amzing thanks for making awesome music

  • Dave you are amzing man! You should make more videos like that showing of your amps and guitars. Kind of like reviews! It would be awesome :D

  • u should check out wampler pedals.they r amazing.i used to have that wah.i got rid in the end cos it just didnt cut through mix.fulltone wah all the way

    justin.

    ur vids are cool]

  • Man I just got a Wampler Plexidrive. Awesome pedal. Best ever!

  • Hey Dave, what kind of power source are you using there?

  • Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus

  • @riffoftheweek hi friend.. wich model of WAH do you use on your pedal board and wich amp are you using? thx

  • as said in the vid.. Dunlop 535Q for wah.. amp is a Fryette Ultralead

  • wow, great lesson. so many toys! me wanty!

    *droooool* =P

  • Hey Dave, i have a Carvin V3 head and the distortion channels are really nice but they dont quite push enough gain for solo's I have heard tube screamers are noisy when pushing a Dist. channel so would on of these Maxons you use be a better choice? Thanks!

  • IMO yes, but it's all about gain stacking properly to lower noise and raise tone.

  • I've just been curious i hear a lot of people push their tube amps with a pedal, i just want to do as much research, get as many opinions as possible before i make a decision. I've heard a lot of praise for maxon lately. Thanks for your opinion its appreciated :)

  • at the end of the day, nothing beats a clean tone.....

  • Eh, I disagree

  • interestingly enough, you are as correct as I am....

  • nothing bits a gritty clean that's easily clean with a twist of the guitar's vol knob, but can light up and saturate when the knob is on 10.

  • yeah man...that's just a driven tube.......all a man needs is an old timey Princeton and good hands..........that's more tone than anyone can handle!

  • @riffoftheweek Reminds me so much of Steve Vai - especially in "Tender Surrender". I love it when he takes his playing from smooth, light, and pretty to loud, gritty, and serious all with a twist of his volume knob. Good stuff!

  • Me too kind of...

  • Yo Dave, do you ever do anything in drop tuning? My band tunes down to B (i know thats way low) and riffage in that tuning sounds a lot different than standard. Any pointers?

  • Use KT88 power tubes and bigger strings.

  • hey Dave, what is your wah??

  • Dunlop 535Q

  • Hey Dave, I was just wondering if any noise is added from running the eventides and holy grail threw your effects loop considering you have to use at least 2 ten foot cables that the signal has to go threw?

  • Nope.

  • Thnx for the bonus video. Is youtube gonna let you have videos that are longer than 10 minutes now?

  • Being a "partnered" channel, they have for a long time.

  • Remember to rate 5*! He gets momney if you rate.

  • Who told you that?

  • indeed!

  • Wow, from the very first chord I could tell it was an Les Paul. Truly a kick in the balls!

  • nice vid for people want to know about what certain pedals do..

that said I hate multi effects pedals stomping on and off for chorus to reverb.. yours sound good al give them that but i do prefer standalone pedals.. the only pedal i have that does more than one job is my Boss RV3 as my boss DD3 died

  • VOP9 dave.....!!!!!!

  • Best there is bro!

  • Diggin' the Eventides!

  • Hey Ryan.. yeah man they rule.

  • nice SOCKS! are they up for SALE!? lol j/k nice vid man very informative!

  • so the two maxons are the same kind right? OD-9

  • One's an OD9, one is the VOP9. VOP9 is my main overdrive.

  • Nice Rig. I really dig the wah.

  • i like this video

  • "ringmod - for when you wanna talk to aliens" lolz

    Nice vid

  • I think the VOP 9 is making it's way to the top of my xmas list. Really nice, warm, valve-like tone. Lush!

  • What happened to your LA custom 7 strings? Did you just get these more classic guitars recently or do you just prefer them more now?

  • I recently declined Ibanez's contract extension bc I don't want to be exclusive to any one company anymore. Plus I fell in love with the "classics" over the last few years. I'll still play 7 but only when needed.

  • That's pretty cool man the way it should be

  • Nice video, but your signal is clipping/distorting a bit so there seems to be added distorsion to your examples.

  • Probably a combination of micing an amp combined with Youtube compression.

  • Yep sorry about that. I mic'd the cab and mixed that in with the cam's mic. Didn't realize there was that much clipping when i compressed the vid.

  • What kind of amp were you playing through, Dave?

  • He just said Fryette Ultralead ...jeez

  • Dave, ignoring which effects are easier to carry around, which effects do think sound better out of the Eventide stuff or the TC Electronic stuff you used before?

  • Eventide but they're MUCH more expensive...

Just by comparing a G Major 2 vs an Eventide Eclipse you'll know :)

  • TC stuff is excellent. I used a G-Force on every tour I've ever done. But after playing the Eventide gear for a while now, my ears like Eventide a bit more. Just have to listen and decide for yourself.

  • thanks Dave!

  • when putting together a pedal board would you recommend any certain order. i was thinking something like

    guitar-->tuner-->wah-->overdrive/distortion/gain-->other effects like chorus/delay/flange-->delay-->noise suppressor

would that be a standard order?

  • if you have a Fx Loop in your amp you should put flanger chorus delay etc... in there if you dont put them in there it´s going to be a little wierd sounding :D

  • and if i dont have an fx loop?

  • then put them in the front.

  • Quick question:my amp's reverb isn't good what's most important to buy the reverb or chorus?

  • I would say reverb since I don't use much chorus but neither are actually "important". Just depends what sound you want.

  • i want to have a warmer sound and some space so i thought of reverb ... i have a fender 212 with a vox bulldog...

  • if you are not so much into guitar, you should buy a multi effects pedal

  • hi dave! do u have some kind of noise suppressor? i noticed it wasnt buzzing when u were playing with the tube screamers. and can u make a video of u talking about noise gates and stuff, thanks man

  • No I don't use gates or noise suppressors. Remember I was playing over a clean channel and these are all high end effects which are less prone to noise.

  • cool! thanks dave!

  • ahh damnit, someone beat me to it i guess lol

  • woooo the biggest fan is the first to comment haha! Anyway dave, I was just thinking about it... I want to get a good pedal for switching from clean to distortion but I noticed that most make a distracting popping noise when you click it. Are there any good brands where you don't really hear that pop sound? Thanks :]

  • Those Maxons in the video. Very nice pedals., and not too expensive either. They're overdrives though. I had the Satchurator which was a distortion that didn't pop.

  • The pop is the true bypass switch. I wouldn't let it bother you.

  • O Yeah First Veiw LOL. dave your awesome man can't wait for new album an to see you with a Grammy
