We do work for an Aluminium extrusion company and ive just sharpened a set of billet shears as they where having problems with the cut "Rugby balling" the cut ends of the billets,any views on this type of problem ?

love the puller system! but ya gotta get rid of that slow log shear and get a saw, and lose the acetylene smoker, try a boron system. you won't get brain tumors with it.

I agree with you with the boron nitride, now we're using boron in most of our new installations.

With regard to the cut of the billet, a hot saw is a good solution to replace an old hot shear (with a bad quality cut), but you'll increase the scrap. If you have a good hot shear with a clean cut (as you can see in the video), the system will be more efficient.
