The fact that he was arrested for smoking a joint in front of the school while he did it gave his story national attention. proud if that was my son. In my kid's defense he was placed in a county home for most of his time when he was 16 for failure to drop a clean UA after being caught in the act of campus in 9th grade. He knows it was his fault for failing the terms of probation, best thing was he got his GED, never to return to HighSchool, is now 18 working on an IT degree.

He didn't fuck up his life! even if found guilty on multiple "misdemeanor" charges. He could pursue work in government run for office or anything in a few years thats worse case scenario being a minor his record will be sealed. Although his name is public people will forget. best case is he has to change schools. College is still available although a few wont want him.

You dont know anything about cannabis laws. In seattle washington its the lowest priority to be enforced (UNDER JAYWALKING) The worst punishment he can get is Expelled and probation. Now if he is under probation and gets caught doing drugs THat could land him jail time.

Getting expelled from a school disctict is not the end of the world like you think it is. most likely he will get an offer from the judge for deferred sentencing. Wich means this - if he doesn't commit any crimes within a certian period of time the courts will DROP THE CHARGES. I think that it's a great method of peaceful protest, and ballsy to boot. I'm sure he did it with full knowledge of inevitable punishment, including possible arrest.
