  • what a boss, he deserves a strain named after him

  • holy shit i need to find this kid... im not gay, but i would literally go up there, and lick his balls dry

  • @falconpaaawwwnch TOO FAR DUDE

  • the kid has a 3.7 gpa...

  • Did he get an A?

  • this kids my hero

  • good quality

  • I thought about doing that after my speech in my public speaking class...

I'm glad someone has the balls to do it. This is hilarious!

  • this kid has balls. i think i love him

  • the kid had a 3.7 grade average

  • I'm a cannabis enthusiast, don't get me wrong, but doing that at a school was just plain idiotic. On the other side, he's a kid and I get the "imashowhorradiam" demeanor lol.

  • HERO

  • BE the change you want to see!!!!

  • Weed is great.

    The end.

  • haha ian got expelled from my middle school :]

  • Good on him. I wish him all the best. I wish there were less idiots commenting on this. If you don't know your shit from your ice-cream stfu.

  • cool kid. im proud i smoke weed and obviously so does he

  • It has been said already, but I'll say it again anyway. That dude got balls.

  • I like the toolboxes who are deleting their stupid remarks because they can't defend them....

They have no real faith in their own opinions, and are obviously spouting shit....shit they can't back up

Thats the only opinion I have for any of these silly comments...

  • ya for real, this kids got balls

  • The word Patriot comes to mind when I think of the name Ian Barry

  • Major kudos. Read his essay and hot damn!!! Wish there was more to this that could be viewed, like the entire speech. Kid has balls and no matter who you are and how anti-drug you may be fighting for free speech and one's inalienable rights to fight for what he/she believes in is truly admirable!!!

  • haha nice

  • to bad you cant hear shit of the speech, but great that this kid came forward like this my respects.

  • You guys are idiots. McMikewhich is obviously being sarcastic. Calm down.

  • im glad theres at least one person who understands

  • hell yeah way to go

  • Uh, you cannot die from weed. It was obviously the heroine. Please do some research before you start making shit up, then at least it will be somewhat believable in the first case.

  • Oscarisnice:

Firstly, you have second hand evidence. First hand would be if you died.

Secondly...it was the heroin, or maybe MAYBE a random allergic reaction. But hey, its your friend that died. what did the coroner say, exactly?

  • oh and Oscarisnice...this is the internet. no one spells anything right. For instance, you used "write" instead of "right.'

  • I doubt a coroner would say weed not marijuana. Besides, we all know it is physically impossible to overdose on marijuana. So, get the fuck out.

  • Looks like that coroner should have done more studying and less drugs while in med-school. Maybe then he wouldn't make such a stupid report?

Go check (google) LD50 for weed or it's contents, then talk. Oh and tell the coroner to do the same.

  • Oh, that was a reply to oscarisnice..

  • Maybe then you would know how to use question marks? Idiot.

  • You didn't even spell "spell" right, dumbass.

If you're saying those who misspell things are trolls, then that would mean that you, too, are a troll.

  • You can't even spell. In order to overdose on marijuana you have to smoke your entire weights worth, and that's pretty much impossible. Your friend bought laced weed and that's why he died, not because of marijuana, but because there was heroin laced on it. Most dealers that lace their shit always over do it, the combo probably fucked your friends body by the chemical reaction or he had an allergic reaction.

  • yeah i know man i had a friend who smoked an ounce of weed in one day then he smoked some crystal meth and drank ten bottles of tussin and took 15 vics and he died so weed does kill people thats a proven fact

  • Oh my fucking god. You are a dumbass. Didn't you read what you just wrote? It wasn't the weed that killed him. It was all the other shit that he smoked and drank.

  • yeah man cant agree more

  • he is being a dick, ignore him

  • you are now realizing that obvious sarcasm is obvious and you are a moron for not realizing that before you showed everyone on here how stupid you are

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, I know...I know someone who smoked an ounce of weed, drank a bottle of Drano and then puked up his intestines and died. That's proof that weed is dangerous.

Get real people. Don't listen to people's bullshit...The only danger with smoking weed is the risk of arrest and imprisonment. E.O.S.

  • @bodidnt i was being sarcastic when i said that, sorry there isnt a type that expresses sarcasm better. i know you cant die from weed unless you smoke a ridiculous amount of it in a very short amount of time

  • @McMikewhich even then you can't die. Nobody ever has. Scientists have tried to kill mice with it and they can't.

  • So basicly you're saying 2 grams of weeds is the same as a few grams of heroin. That just doesn't make sense. Two boats never make a truck. Heroin and weed have a totally different impact on our body, causing totally different reactions within our cells... Read some scientific articles on weed. Alot of research has been done, and very much is known about what THC and cannabinoids do within our cells, and they do more good than harm.

  • @oscarisnice LOL

2 grams of heroin would kill you, idiot

2,000 grams of marijuana wouldn't kill you

your throat would be sore, but you wouldn't die.

  • thats just blatantly not true. And its ecstasy that puts holes in your brain.

And though i'm sorry your friend died, they died of the heroin od, which is far more dangerous than weed.

  • Deznien it's actually through crack/cocaine use that the already present holes in your brain, called vacuoles, enlarge...

  • @oscarisnice Both of your claims are total horseshit.

FYI the holes in the brain study was done on rhesus monkeys, and they essentially suffocated them on smoke. Studies with better methods have shown the conclusion of the original rhesus monkey marijuana study to be wrong. Some of the chemicals in marijuana have been shown to actually promote the growth of NEW brain cells.

I'm not sure where you get the spinal fluid one from, maybe the "insert bad drug here" staying in your spinal fluid myth.

  • Mega Kudos to you partner, you're a brave warrior in this war for our inalienable rights.

  • He was caught smoking a schedule 1 substance, it was most likely the school officials who called the police.

  • alot of the people saying negative things about weed, ether haven't tried it or know nothing about it exept for what they see on tv and then drink until there slurring and yelling, at least stoners don't go out startin fights and thinking there top shit...honestly i think alot of you douche bags need to start doing your research before being so closed minded to something because it's illegal.

  • when i smoke weed at school it actually helps me work haha

  • He was mearly trying to prove how unharmful a marijuanna bud is.

I am 100% amazed at what this guy did.

    Bravo.

  • which are?

  • Its been proven that marijuana doesnt kill braincells. You only get your judgment impaired temporarly, and alchohol does the same to you (it just makes you kinda brave)

I'm not calling you the dumbass, but you should really look at what the doctors say instead of the DEA

  • weed doesn't kill brain cells, even lack of sleep or too much caffeine can affect your judgement, and there are dumbasses EVERYWHERE who have NEVER even seen weed, let alone smoked it.

  • Teach him the dangers of what, of being punished for something?

  • There are no dangers in pot. The only danger is in getting caught by the f*cking narco stormtroopers doing the dirty work of their no-good, ultra-elite, One-World-Disorder pimp-ass bosses.

  • i give MAD PROPS to this kid. fuck everyone who says he ruined his life. he is standing up for what he believes in, which is what the rest of us need to do. he wasn't afraid of consequences. our world needs more people like him. not just to fight cannabis legalization, but to fight... ANYTHING.

  • Simply brilliant. That's balls man.

  • Way to stand up for what you believe in, the only reason its illegal is cause of propaganda surrounded in lies, the kid also has a 3.7 GPA..

  • Balls

    This kid has em.

  • That guy's awesome. What a hero for the libertarian and drug decriminalization movements.

  • I was fucking there for this!

    Ian barry in my hero!

i wanna light it up with him xD

im gonna smoke a fat blow tonight for this guy.

i hope he gets back in the school. 8D

  • wow! \

  • my fucking hero!

  • we need more brave kids like this. so well argued.

we need to boycott dupont, kelloggs, & hearst products.

i am also boycotting beer, tobacco, & big pharma. why in the hell should you give a crap that i will be vaporizing cannabis every now and again? but every morning i'll be munching 'american grown' hemp seed cereal.

  • Ian Barry and Ian Thorpe, two evolutionary advanced stoners. One is intelligent and articulate and was probably stoned during the speech. The other one of the top swimmers in the world, surely requiring a decent set of lungs.

Hell I took a spirometer the other day, my lung capacity is 5% above the average of males my age (20).

So let's say we all smoked when we were 18 so no1 goes insane, what exactly is the problem, mr douchebag government?

  • ericodudeo, I am saying his life is shittier than mine because of what he just did here. He is going to get in a lot of trouble for this and it will impact his future. He had a bright future ahead of him, but this could have screwed it up. If this kid just was smart about smoking and didnt do it in front of everyone, hed be living just as good as life as all of us.

  • i agree with you there but remember he is only 17

  • Clearly you do not understand the idea of civil disobedience. Breaking laws in the name of progressive change far outways the risk for some people.

  • NFL, I say he still has a very bright future and he obviously has a great amount of self-respect, unlike you, who lacks the balls to step out from behind your big, fat nanny (government).

  • BONG HITS 4 IAN

meth is death pot is not the law is wrong not the bong

  • Dude, you can spin a rhyme!!!

  • Some IDIOT flagged this veedeo inappropriate. WTF????????

  • Props to this kid. Not something I'd do, even tho I'd very much like too. I just can't wait until the day I can just walk down the street smoking a J, and not have to watch for cops.

  • its extremely sad that im supporting my team? ok. Yea, this kid has good taste, he does drugs. I Thats probably the dumbest thing I have ever heard. I don't care that he does drugs, it just is stupid that he did it in front of everyone. im living a fine life, i can tell you right now its 10 times better than this kids life is.

  • NFLFan, ur right about one thing. Football is a great sport. Unfortunately, people like you are so brash and idiotic that you scare away people from football cuz they think all fans are like you. It's a shame. GO BEARS.

  • joshgeek, I am a great NFL fan. I am passionate to my team and know a lot about football. Thats why I have a football site with over 3,000 members.

And I guess he did think screwing up his life was worth it. Whatever, I don't think it was, but I guess this kid did.

  • are you aware football players use steroids.

  • resinated, yes I am aware they use steroids and I think that's wrong, but I can't do anything about it.

  • I have been reading your posts. so you agree that nfl players do steroids also.

By your logic.... what the nfl players do is OK because they didn't do it infront of the fans.

  • resinated, no. I think it is wrong that they did it anyways. It is a bad influence on everyone and gives the sport a bad rep. I am saying this kid smoking a joint in public was dumb because if he just kept it to himself he wouldnt have gotten caught.

  • Well you should throw that arguement out the window you missed the whole point!

He wanted to be seen and caught smoking it to prove his point that its not dangerous only the racist rooted laws are.

The story of cannabis is full of tyranny from Racists, Big oil and Big pharmacustical Corporations. Oppressive actions from these industries and individuals keep a Safe, Green, Natural, competitor of those industries illegal.

  • reinstated, I understand his point and I know he wanted to smoke a joint in front of everyone to proove it, but I just think that was dumb.

  • sorry to call u a bad example of a football fan. i'm sure u support ur team and the sport with pride.

i got frustrated over the apparent lack of understanding coming from u. this country wouldn't exist if people didn't break laws for good reasons. it is the American way to actively undermine unjust laws. if everyone followed every law handed down, we'd all be singing "God Save the Queen" and saluting the British flag still. I understand your concern with the law, I just disagree with it.

  • he wasnt trying to fuck up his life, he was trying to show that even if you smoke pot and Ian does ALOT trust me you can have a 3.7 gpa and alot of kids thatdont smoke cant even manage that, he made his point very clear and im sure Ian will get into college. I go to school with hm, he's really smart, and im sure you guys are saying "hes not smart he smoked at school" well how about you think about the hundreds of kids that smoke at school BEHIND the teachers backs.

  • emma, you are proving my point with your last statement. Smart people do it behind the teachers backs. This kid did it in front of everyone. Thats why i think what he did was extremely dumb. If he just made his speech and didn't smoke a joint in front of everyone and just kept it to himself, he would be fine right now.

  • But if he just made the speech and didn't smoke a joint, the speech would have stayed in that high school auditorium in Pennsylvania. The fact that he was arrested for smoking a joint in front of the school while he did it gave his story national attention. Maybe someday Ian Barry will be renowned for the first "smoke in" of the marijuana civil right movement.

  • OSUChad, I understand your point, but honestly, do you really think this is going to change anyones thought on legalizing weed? Everyone knows its a issue that is being debated and we know that there are many people who want it legalized (I am one of them). I understand he wanted to get the point across, but what he did was not smart and could have cost him his future.

  • Peninsula high school is in washington state i dont want people to get confused by pennsylvania.

  • He sacrificed his freedom to help get the ball rolling, how many of us have the courage to do our part in keeping it going?

Let's see what percentage of the population they're willing to wrongly incarcerate before they put up the white flag and take pot off the list of schedule 1 contraband.

  • You sound very passionate and I'm all for legalization, but good luck.

  • You have to be the dumbest, most persistent mother fucker on the face of this earth.

You understand that "smoking behind the teacher's back" is seemingly more criminal to the public eye than smoking in the open?

  • rwarzor, what the fuck is your point? Smoking weed is not a criminal offense. If you do it behind peoples back your smart because you wont get caught, if you do it in front of people, you're dumb because its illegal. Is is that hard to understand? damn.

  • Smoking weed is a criminal offense, though I think that's what you meant. This is not about not wanting to get caught, that's what you seem to not understand. You don't get caught, you don't make a point, you don't make a point, nothing changes, nothing changes and you risk getting a greater charge when you're an adult. change is not accomplished by hiding from people. Hell, the hiding from people is what gives drug users of any sort a bad rap in the first place. They're labeled as shady

  • continued

characters who live in the backalleys of our cities waiting for their next fix. This is a gross exaggeration of what actually occurs, but you will find many people actually believe it with marijuana. By smoking it in the open he's proving his point:

I SMOKED WEED AND NOBODY DIED.

    god you're stupid

  • rwarzor, whatever. If he wanted to prove his point badly by putting his future at risk, I think that is pretty dumb. It just isn't worth it.

  • Obviously you are not a possessor of high ideals, like Ian.

    Never mind the pun.

Please don't judge him because he doesn't value social conformity like you and the rest of the f*cking lemmings in this country.

  • way to stick it to the man by censoring the word fuck

  • well more people with this kids courage need to come forward and show that respectable, intelligent humans consume hemp and aren't going to stop.

  • Legalize it.

  • I think that was honestly the wrong thing to do...

I mean, he gets jailed/probably some conviction; fucks up college chances ANYWHERE. Fucks up job chances EVERYWHERE. And makes an argument against pot for people who are trying to bash it. "This numbnuts clearly has no brains because he smoked pot at school infrount of everyone"... Is he even 18? I hope this dosn't set anything back for PRO-pot users.

You have balls dear sir. But necessarily brains... (Not that i could hear the video though)

  • Well done Ian!

  • best speech ever...if you read it....

  • You Rock dude!!!

  • Rock on man. Keep standing up for what is right. We need more people will balls of steel like yours.

  • my hero =)

  • FUK THE POLICE!

he had a 3.7 grade point average, now that doesnt mean shit. u tha man ian :D

  • it will take a thousand ian barry's before any progress is made.

  • doe Ian Barry have a myspace ?

the law is wrong not the bong meth is death pot is not

    I would've been

proud if that was my son. In my kid's defense he was placed in a county home for most of his time when he was 16 for failure to drop a clean UA after being caught in the act of campus in 9th grade. He knows it was his fault for failing the terms of probation, best thing was he got his GED, never to return to HighSchool, is now 18 working on an IT degree.

  • Alcohol and Tobacco are legal and kill so many people every year. Marijuana has so many benefits backed by scientific study's from industrial uses to easing pains for people suffering from all sorts of conditions. Legalize it. Props to this kid, you have a lot of guts my hat goes off to you.

  • Look up "Deferred Sentence" this is freaking amazing? you dont even need a hot shot lawyer for this. The average PUBLIC DEFENDER can get you this with ease.

  • Yea, I spend my money on NFL gear to support my team and it isn't illegal. Weed is illegal and it is a lot of money for something that you don't even need. its not like it is helping this kid out in any way.

  • He smoked a joint in front of that many people on school property? What a fucking idiot, it didn't add all that much to his speech and he just fucked himself over.

  • Wow.. brave little toaster!

  • He made his point clear in a very courageous way. But sadly all the cojones he got wont save him from jail ...

  • He's a minor, it's probably his first offense, they can't charge him anything but possession of residual marijuana. I doubt very much he'll get much more than probation and time served.

  • i fully support ians choice and feel it was an excellent way to grab the attention of the general public

  • very brave of this kid to stand up for what so many people have only talked about. im behind him all the way

  • For all you people who think this kid is dumb, he has a 3.7 GPA at his school. He stood up for something he believed in, and as all revolutionaries must, he will face the repercussions because no one else has the balls to stand up with him. Way to go, Ian!

  • Wow a 3.7 in high school! that's really hard to achieve

  • I would never do what he just did, but damn does this guy have balls!

  • I'm glad this kid had the balls to really stand up for what he believes in. His essay was magnificent, and he only made it better by smoking with it. He will be successful in life as would anyone who is so passionate about their beliefs. Good for him.

  • Anyone know if he has a legal fundraiser going yet?

  • I'd like to know as to why people are calling him a dumbass and as for SheenaHannah2008 youre a fucking idiot!.He caters for both supporters of legalisation and also for people who would like to see their countries economy to grow. One has to remember here that if it were to be legalised one will not be forced to use it. Fags are legal but I dont smoke them or call for them to be banned. How dare anybody tell me what i can or cannot do in the privacy of my own home!

  • georgebigdaddycool, I am calling him a dumbass because he smoked a joint which is illegal in front of a bunch of adults and fucked up his life. That is stupid. I have no problem with him being for legalizing marijuana, but doing what he did was really dumb.

  • He didn't fuck up his life! even if found guilty on multiple "misdemeanor" charges. He could pursue work in government run for office or anything in a few years thats worse case scenario being a minor his record will be sealed. Although his name is public people will forget. best case is he has to change schools. College is still available although a few wont want him.

If he ran for office this would be something to embrace! like obama being halfblack wouldn't of worked 30 years ago.

  • reinstated, he is probably going to go to jail and is going to be in a shitload of trouble. A lot of colleges won't want him because of this. The kid could have had a good life if he just kept his smoking to himself, but nope had to do it in front of everyone.

  • You dont know anything about cannabis laws. In seattle washington its the lowest priority to be enforced (UNDER JAYWALKING) The worst punishment he can get is Expelled and probation. Now if he is under probation and gets caught doing drugs THat could land him jail time.

  • Getting expelled from a school disctict is not the end of the world like you think it is. most likely he will get an offer from the judge for deferred sentencing. Wich means this - if he doesn't commit any crimes within a certian period of time the courts will DROP THE CHARGES. YEP THATS RIGHT THEY WILL DROP THE CHARGES ON FIRST TIME OFFENDERS>>> WOOOHOOO>>> you didn't know that did you! The only thing that would stand is being expelled.

  • he was trying to make a point. You are bound to have consequences, and he knew already what they were. That's not dumb at all, that's brave. People like him are how things get changed, he took action and didn't just talk about it.

  • NFLFan... first off your name is NFL fan, 'nough said.

anyways all of your comments are retarded.

colleges won't want him because of this? I forget colleges can do criminal background checks before they accept students into school...

you spending money on football gear isn't helping you out in anyway, so what's your point?

you are one of the sheeple that's wrong with america

  • thatonejewishguy, you've got a problem with football? I don't know why you would. Football is a great sport. What are you intersted in, religion? You're name is thatonejewishguy. That's a lot worse than NFLFan. Plenty of people have football names on here, but religion names? wow.

Colleges aren't going to want kids who have been arrested in their lives. Like seriously, you think colleges are just going to skim over that? Are you dumb?

I like collecting football gear and it isnt illegal.

  • Another american kid wasting tax payer dollars in school. It's sad to see that most kids are now work in low paying job after they graduate in school and can't even go to college because early in life, they screwed their life. I felt sorry for your parents, who wants their kid to be successful in life but the way you acted is crazy. Oh by the way, drug addicts will neber be successful in life!!! Thats for sure! They will be working always at low paying job! Walmart, McDo, Coffeeshop!

  • yeah they cant shatter world records and win gold medals, they cant rise to the presidency of the united states.. yeah boy i sure agree with you.

  • Are u kidding me? The Taxpayers have spent over a TRILLION dollars fighting this war on people & he proves a point - anyone can still get it! The DEA only stops 5-10% - so, 90% of drugs are still getting thru, how is this cost effective? And if you took the time to READ the speech, you'll see it was intelligent and well researched. If he was my kid I'd be PROUD!

& if drug users aren't successful, then please explain President Obama, Bill Gates, Al Gore - because they all smoked it!

    Troll.

  • Stop listening to government propaganda. He's not a drug addict and I guarantee you, this kid's future is more secure than most.

  • ya i read he has a 3.7 gpa that should show people stoners who have low gpa's would have low gpa's anyway

  • Where can i download this video so i can put it on my phone?

  • I think that it's a great method of peaceful protest, and ballsy to boot. I'm sure he did it with full knowledge of inevitable punishment, including possible arrest. If you read his essay, the kid's pretty damn bright to boot, so I'd be hard pressed to believe he didn't expect any negative ramifications for this.

  • More quotes from Anslinger (which, btw, were plastered throughout the Hearst Newspapers)

"...the primary reason to outlaw marijuana is its effect on the degenerate races."

"Marijuana is an addictive drug which produces in its users insanity, criminality, and death."

"Reefer makes darkies think they're as good as white men."

"You smoke a joint and you're likely to kill your brother."

"Marijuana is the most violence-causing drug in the history of mankind."

  • I read the speech & thought is was wonderfully done! The big thing missing tho was the racist Propaganda:

Quoting Harry J. Anslinger, Director of the FBN, creator of the the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937:

"There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos, and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz, and swing, result from marijuana use. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers, and any others."

  • I personally wouldn't light up a joint after making a speech like that, but I commend him for his bravery and his thorough speech.

  • I a now sober living person, and soon to be alumni of Central Kitsap High School (your friendly neighbor) , speaks for CK and CK alt. in saying that you had guts, and courage, good job man.

    you have our support

  • I'm proud to say i go to PHS and Ian, YOU'RE AWESOME!

  • Ian is BAMF

  • wow what a dumbass

  • "upper wealth echeleon in America" How humorous. Keep on destroying the planet and your rich kids will be just as dead as our poor ones. Ian Barry only did something that most people never have the balls to do, stand against opposition and truly make a point, regardless of the consequence of doing so. And what kind of moron would say 'we will use draconian measures to stop this!" Draconian means unusually severe or cruel, to which this nation maintains that they do not punish that way.

  • "Ian Barry only did something that most people never have the balls to do"

That's true, if you're from the United States. This is why Cananada wins, we actually have the freedom to get away with this sort of thing.

  • Good for you!!! I'm proud to say he's a local!!! Go Ian!

  • he kicks ass! Fuck yes!

  • i think this joeltrae is being sarcastic.. anyways, cool kid, hope he gets off the hook, and hope they legalize it soon!!!

  • Whooa.....joeltrae, slow your roll there, buddy. You should do a little googlin' and look up Portugal's current drug policies, crime rates, and drug use statistics.....you may find yourself singing a slightly different tune once you've been educated...

  • im sorry your father smoked weed instead of being your daddy, but its not the weeds fault...

  • troll.

  • Really? You are the "tens of millions" you say you are, why don't you try telling this to the 64% (Majority) of Americans that have ever used marijuana. Most of them only used it a few times in their life - which should say loud and clear that it is not addictive.

Also, it is quite disgusting of you to say "give the death penalty to cannabis smokers". Honestly, why do you care what OTHER people do? They aren't affecting YOU in any way. Let them be.

  • "if it takes the death penalty to stop drug use, so be it. "

Haha, you are such an obvious troll.

  • Did someone just reference this kid to the Rosa Parks of weed... wow.
