I hate 300. It sucks. A load of sick crap. It's got a unique style but Rodriguez's Sin City is so much better than Frank Millers other comic movies. Citizen Kane works as the "Greatest movie of all time" the way Battlefield Earth works as "the worst" - everybody can pick up on why its a great movie, and they all generally agree that it's good, but they might personally think there's one better. It is like they thought viewers would be fooled by a whole bunch of musculer men. The acting was bad- considering the fact that they were overacting. For a story based on past time way before christ himself. Like Mel Gibson did with both Apocalypto and Passion of Christ- they should not have used english as the main dialogue. it did not feel old.

300 is no where near the greatest movie of all time. First of all the spartans WORE ARMOR they weren't stupid enough to run around but naked. Second of all the spartans weren't acurately dipicted. Third of all I could make a HUGE list of movies that were better and more inspiring than 300.

I read your comment carefully, and I was replying to the phrase "WTF is citizen Kane I never even heard of it." I have seen Ben Hur--it's all right for the genre (and the fact that it's a Demille film.) Braveheart--I have Scottish ancestry, but Gibson played fast and loose with history. I don't mind that so much--Roger Ebert says we go to movies for feelings and not for history--but there were moments I found preposterous. I don't like Cruise's acting, so I didn't like Samurai for that reason.

Well I just saw Iron man yester day and that was good. Oh for the last samurai I didn't like Tom Cruises role in it but I did like the overall role of the samurai and their honor. Ken Watanabe role was great however. Oh today I promise you I will rent Citizen Kane, Ben Hur, and Braveheart. They better be exciting and not boring okay. Oh and I've heard Braveheart is kind of like the movie Gladiator is that true because Gladiator was an awesome movie

well 09stranm, just keep in mind that braveheart came out long before gladiator and if there are any similarities gladiator stole them from braveheart. by the way, I saw citizen kane my freshman year in college in film appreciation class. its a good film for directors who make films. they love that movie. its the pans and close ups and the camera they used or something like that. but for the average viewer who doesn't really analyze or critique films its just boring.

wethawood, I heard mel gibson say that he had to be "loose" in the historic aspect of the movie mainly because "william wallace" was a legend and like all legends they tend to take on "mystical" characteristics throughout the years as the story gets told from generation to generation. I don't know the historic aspect of braveheart or how accurate it is. all I know is that I've seen it about 50 times and it just gets better and better every time. I always catch something new.

Just my opinion, but The Godfather (especially Part II) seems to be the better film--more nuanced story and direction. However, I did enjoy Braveheart, and everyone has their own favorite movie--and the right to think it's the favorite. I do suggest renting Citizen Kane (and reading about it first.) It's not my "favorite" film, but I like it and appreciate what Welles was doing. Have you seen Casablanca?

Casablanca is a great movie. I have to agree with AFI: Citizen Kane, The Godfather, and Casablanca are the top three movies of all time, they are the three that stand out above the rest. Even though Raging Bull is #4 the top 3 to me are almost on an entire different level. I don't think Singin' In the Rain should be above Gone With the Wind and Lawrence of Arabia, but that's my opinion.
