  • Bishop McMurray was a real man of God and was well loved by many, I'm sure he's resting in peace according Isaiah 57 verses 1 & 2.

  • doe s any one know where i can buy this whole video?

  • it looks like their were a lot of healing and deliverence in this church my Lord, God is REAL people praise his Holy name amen

  • Arguably the true Pentecost Patriach at best!!

  • I always thought they said "There's no secret what God can do, if you take one step, he'll take two..."

  • Gee, I remember those days. I was the announcer/radio announcer there at Bethany for about 16 years and would introduce our dear Pastor whom I so miss! It was a honor and a privledge to be saved under his ministry. I wish I could locate Ernest Collins, my then boyfriend back in the 70's who introduced me to church and to Christ. Thank you Ernest for being a huge pivotal part of my life and bringing me to Christ.

  • WOW! These were great times. Does anyone know of a church like this? Were the Pastor ministers to the soul....great music and the word is upheld without fear of low attendance. God Bless Bishop and his family..no ones perfect but so many souls saved under his leadership.

No one Batize anymore unless you make an appt. Bishop had alter call for every service including bible study.

  • thats not true for every church!lol

  • My church is still ran like this one. and yes we are of the apostolic faith, right in Gary. Indiana

  • Not true for every church. My church is awesome. We had a baptism today. We baptize. My pastor ministers to my soul and we have great music and the word. I love my church.

  • WOW! I thought James Cleveland had the best version of this song. Thanks for proving me wrong!

  • Bishop Mc murray asked Jame Cleveland personaly and Jame Gave Bishop the go ahead.

  • Why does Bishop Mcmurray remind me of the grandfather from the cosby show! LOL

  • About what year was this video made?

  • Bishop was one of the best!!!

  • Yes I remember Keith Pringle, he was the badest thing on the organ.

  • It is really good seeing Bishop R. W. mc murray on you tube, but one day I will see him again in the "Rapture" when GOD will come back for all of his people.

  • Not the "Rapture" the second appearing of the Jesus...

    taff

  • I grieve for the way we used to have church back in the day when we had true POWER

  • Wow I grew up in this church

  • Praise the Lord! I got saved at Greater Bethany under the dear Pastor Bishop McMurray's ministry. Oh man, saw Sister McMurray on this video and many other old time friends. This gives me Holy Ghost shivers hearing this song. Like it was yesterday when I attended. I got Baptized there 12-1-74 and received the Holy Ghost speaking in tongues on 1-28-75. The praise service and word of God that went forth was always dynamic and annointed by God!

  • I remember you...

  • Does anyone remember when Keith pringle was Minister of music at Greater Bethany before he left and went over to be Minister of music for James Cleveland at

Cornerstone Institutional Bapt.church over on Slauson& Western Ave. in Los Angeles,Ca?

  • I remember it well. The first time I ever "shouted" Keith was singing "I MUST TELL JESUS" this was before they even moved into this building. They were in the building that became Robert Mc Murray Center. Those were the days when Keith was there!

  • I really miss him... love you Godfather!

  • I just well up everytime I watch this video. R.W. McMurray was one cool Bishop and he is sorely missed!!! RIP

  • I have family that used to attend this church in the late 80's early 90's. We had soo many tapes from this church it was almost like we attended there too. Bishop McMurray was a great man of God! :)

  • THE MAN IS ALRIGHT

  • trust him...this great

  • My folks, Elder and Mother Melvin Bullock from North Carolina, were saved when I was yet in the womb, during a revival that Bishop McMurray preached at Bibleway in DC mid-May 1973. I know who my Savior is, and that he instructed us to give honor to whom honor is due. In that vein I say, I'm saved today because of Bishop McMurray. Thanks to YouTube I get an opportunity to actually get a taste of this man's ministry that had such an impact on my life although I wasn't even born. Thank you, Jesus!

  • I LOVE this & anything by Bishop McMurray! He use to come to DC to Bibleway and would pack the place out!!! Will never forget hearing him preach-Wild Ass On the Loose!!

  • Boy! Grandma gettin' it on the tamborine at 0:22! Goin' and praise him grannie! hahahaha

  • do anybody know the words please let me know thank u

  • Now this is church!! aint nothing like good ol'fashion church

  • This chior was on point!! The were not only together vocally but in their movements.... wow!!

  • Bishop Mac! I remember him well. He was good friends with my pastor, Bishop James A. Johnson here in St.Louis. We need to keep church just like this. Modern day music has its place, but this right here is what I grew up on and this is what kept me saved. There's another good ole time video out there. Type in the song Stretch Out under videos and see Apostle Hinton in Chicago....get your tambourines out and get ready to cut a step!

  • sure do miss bishop, He bishop ellis were friends I rememeber he preached ' we are of the believing kind' quoting the scripture now this is the victory that overcometh the world even our faith. Wish i could find that tape it was way b4 we had cds lol when church tapes were $5.00 lol those were the good ole scantified days

  • THIS IS CHUCH

  • Matthew 7:1

Judge not, that ye be not judged.

  • My aunt goes to this church. Her name is Rozell Sanders and she helps with the mission dept. I used to go to church with her back in the 80's. Love it! I sure miss Bishop McMurray.

  • We stayed under the name "Bethany", and now we are located in the valley and building a brand new church. Our pastor refers to the Bishop all the time, and I was a little girl when he died. People tell me that my grandfather's preaching style is similar to Bishop's. I'm glad someone posted this on here so I can get a glimpse of my grandfather's background!

  • My grandfather Robert L. Johnson originated from this church. He served as a member of the choir, and a minister for years until Bishop sent him to start a work in Pacoima.

  • I played that piano & organ...long time ago!

  • Who is this this is Vincent Jackson the drummer

  • Hey Vince... Whats up this is Eddie. Deacon Parkers son..Larry's Brother. Do you still play?? What about Reggie?? still playing bass?? and what ever happened to Ronnie Jerry??

good to see folks from the old days.

  • I love the mother at :23 with the tambourine. So classic.

  • What is he saying at 1:48? All about ___ time??

  • He was saying, "All of my appointed time"

  • Thanks!!!!! :-)

  • Should have finished with "I find no fault in him". RIP Bishop I miss and Love you. He was one of a kind.

  • Jonathan Grier went to West Angeles after Bishop Jones fired him and a host of others. During a changing of the Guard a few years back. The Griers were @ Bethany for ages.

  • I didn't know Bishop Jones fired him!!! :(

  • you can call and ask our pastor im not sure because i didnt grow up in cali but pastor jd white can definately tell you he often tells us about things that happened at greater bethany

  • Does anyone know where Jonathan Grier is? Wasn't he the musical director of this wonderful choir?

  • i know him personally he came from West Angeles he came after Jones became pastor

  • Johnathan was at bethany long before Jones became pastor but his family is from first apastolic which is called something else now but still the same building

  • hi my name is minister benji banks my uncle jd white jr was a minister of bishop mcmurray for a ling time and he was very close to bishop mcmurray my uncle now pastor greater faith in mo val in cali he could tell you some things about bishop 951 653 5556 church god bless

  • Do you or your uncle know when Greater Bethany was founded?

  • I'm sorry, Benji Banks is a friend of mine that I must have left my screen name logged in under his computer, I'll tell him your reply though. I, Andre Berry, am the real owner of this screen name.

  • Are you related to Toi Berry? She went to Greater Bethany years ago

  • No, I don't even go to Greater Faith, nor am I under the Shield of Faith.

  • Hi

I also went to bethany years ago. Toi had two brothers...I can't remember their names right now.

  • I'm so glad that I came arcoss the video. My sisters and I lived right across the street from Bethany. The church was like a second home for us. The Cunningham girls!

  • I typed in Bethany Community Church to see if my church in St. Catharines, Ontario Canada would come up but this wonderful choir came up instead. It's great to see God's love spread all across the nations, and carried by all people groups.

  • Whomever maintains the website...do you have any information as far as history regarding this great man of God? His life, his ministry, his church, deaath, etc...

  • Does anybody have any information on the little kid whose sucking his thumb in his mother's lap at the beginning of the video? How old is he now?

  • I remember hearing this song as a boy and did not know who sang it. I heard of Bishop McMurray as a youth and now I put the pieces together. This is great.

  • Man, Greater Bethany is where I grew up at. Bishop McMurray was indeed Gods man of action.I enjjoyed Playing the drums on that song. Vincent Jackson

  • Hey vinjack1, did you continue with Bishop Jones after he took over and changed the name?

  • Yes, for about 3 years.

  • I remember you! Do you remember a gentlememan named Von Cunningham? I guess you could say he was one of the handy men workers at the church. God blessed him with his own cleaning business. Anyways, I'm his older daughter, remember the three Cunningham sisters?

  • hey man...u married a young lady from the Winans church huh?

  • Wow, I'm SO glad this is on the web. I'm 42 years old, and my earliest childhood memory of church is sitting there watching that man (I didn't know how he was yet) singing, "you take one step and He'll take two."

My father, Thomas Alexander (he's now a District Elder), was the choir director who first taught the song "Trust Him" to the choir at Bethany. Originally his brother, Arling Alexander, sang the lead to it, and Eld. McMurray fell in love with the song and adopted it.

  • this song was originally song by James Cleveland. It became Bishop MacMurray's signature song.

  • Another great Bishop formerly from the Ohio District Council!!!!!

  • It's such a shame that Bishop Noel Jones has wiped all memory of Bishop Mac from Bethany. Jones became pastor and changed the name. I don't know how many are still there from Bishop MacMurray's day, but I'm sure the great majority of them that are there now, know very little to nothing about their founder.

  • Finally somebody said it out loud....

  • I totally agree!

  • I totally agree!

  • I agree this is sad. Went home for a year and attended Peace instead of "Bethany" wish I had my old home church to go back to.

  • Is Bishop McMurray any kin to the pastor Herman McMurray in Dallas TX?

  • You would Herman Murray of Full Gospel Holy Temple. His name is McMurray

  • Bishop McMurray Was the man. I really miss him. He was one of a kind.
