what amazes me, is that no matter the topic or the quality of the presentation, there's always some idiot (and you know who you are) that post about how "this wouldn't work in a real fight" or "a guy with (insert whatever secret fighting style you know here) would kick your ass. Wow! There are so many bad ass fighters out there....I am shaking! STOP IT you idiots. This was a great video and informative technique that you can try to use one day. Enjoy and shut up!
Im just a white belt, and at my school they are not teaching any leg locks to us yet. They scare the shit out of me. If some MMA guy comes over and kneebars me, I just tap instantly...
Everyone talks about the heel hooks like they are some mystical power. It's crazy that there is so much stuff that I havent even seen with the legs in terms of submission. Still trying to learn to do a decent armbar, lol:(
@Kalferzu There's nothing wrong with that. In fact, I'm still working on being able to do a decent arm bar. Follow your instructor's advice and stick with it. Eventually, you'll learn all you need to know. Basics are the foundation and what enable you to do all the other stuff. My favorite stuff is the simple beginners stuff. Check out our Long Sit Out clip with Coach Robinson. One of my favorite clips.
@Kalferzu Its not that they are magical, but you DONT have time to tap before serious damage is done. I have trained with guys that fight MMA, and we never trained with heel hooks. Practice the escapes over and over, but never when sparring full speed. It takes half a second to end a career and inexperienced guys hurt people the most often.
There is room to improve that move : put your left triceps between butcheeks (no chance for crossface) if opponent roll forward -keep lock and roll with him then triangle your legs use hands to pull and you got tap.
Money. That's wicked. I've got big feet & long legs, which I think'll be an asset for this one. I may have even got it one time by accident, but it was much more clumsy and awkward. Love the setup and the fake!
Quality stuff as always lads. Hope the site rakes in the dough!
This is a compression lock/slice/crush, and so would be legal in NAGA No Gi tournaments as it is not a foul or illegal technique according to the rules
@monstervison6 It is. In CACC, it's called "Inside Grapevine With Toe Hold." There are two basic variations: 1) reaching through his legs and grabbing the nearside foot and cranking up/back (Karl Gotch variation); 2) reaching over the tailbone and grabbing the nearside foot and cranking the same way. These guys are showing how to apply it against a BJJ "Turtle" defensive position which is more flattened than the standard wrestling/CACC all-fours (par terre) position.
Excellent grappling technique guys!!! Especially by pointing out the leverage of using the toes not the ankle to complete the move before locking it with the other foot. I often show students to use the top of the head(crown) for leverage not behind the neck when trying to turn an opponents head. Great demonstration! Thanks.
Good thanks bud, when you goto throw your other hook in alot of times I under hook that knowing they are going for that then go out the back door. Just keep that in mind kk thanks
Jay, not sure if you've checked these out yet but I just put up 3 more videos for you and the turtle/quarter position. Ghetto Chokes, Cross Face to Ghetto Choke (it's in the Takedowns section), Taking The Back. I hope you enjoy! Thanks for the plug and thank you for supporting damagecontrolmma, com
Hi bizlift yea i am the same jay, dont know if you are aware but if you join damagecontrolmma website these guys have so much info available well worth it, invaluable tool for both learning and teaching.
Tight. I knew that move but thanks for making me aware of the use of the other foot. and thanks for your other video, bracchial plexus cutter. Good stuff
Yeah, I actually accidently popped someone's knee with this move a while back. Not anything that required a surgical fix but caused them issues for a while. There was a loud, noticable "POP" sound then I let go. This certainly isn't just a pain compliance move like most people believe. You can mess up someone's knee pretty bad if they don't tap.
I may be being an idiot, but why not just go for a rear naked choke?

Guidoflight777 1 month ago
It's a calf crush, I do that a lot from that exact set up.

So by driving your own foot into the crook of his knee and levering his leg down, you're expanding the knee joint?
dpanon 5 months ago
Who gave it the name "Scorpion death lock?"
It's just a normal calf crusher. You can get it from half guard also. Dumb name sorry.

can you pull this sub off from half-guard? it seems like you end up in a sort of half-guard position anyway.

@dboyzero yes you can. Just bump like you would for a back take and you're there.
bjjartist 1 year ago
You shouldn't grab it with both hands because if the guy rolls to his left and puts his right leg over your face he can armbar your left arm.
