I hate to be rude in your opinion, but this is considered incredibly sacred to some cultures. In ancient Rome, wealthy people would take fish out of a pond in the courtyard and cut it up for the guests within minutes to show some sort of respect. I'm sure there are many more cultures that do similar practices.

As for respect for life, this decoration is beautiful if you consider how tuna in cans are processed. This fish has the luxary of knowing who eats it and how fast it will be eaten.
