While not without flaws, this is indeed one of the most powerful opening sequences ever. Among the flaws is the unlikelihood of even the tiniest lens keeping both subject and background in perfect focus. This way the movie "Wanted" had more regard for optics. I'm sure Niccol opted out of DOF not from ignorance but for purely artistic reasons, kind of like how each balloon had to be the size of 2 Carls in "Up" in order for the chunk not to look like noise at a distance. It's so called "cheating".
i should have watched it twice... new comment, i found that the sequences of sound to music to credits was matched up perfectly, and finally a movie featuring Buffalo Springfield music that isn't about vietnam
believe it or not, Kiev used to be the capital of russia, long before moscow or st.petersberg. but yeah, they got bitched around for a while after that :p
I think it's kinda funny that the Russians are producing BRASS casing in this movie, when in real life, they make them with STEEL casing. haha. But still pretty friggin awesome intro! And movie. Thanks for posting this

@wakeupfist I don't think they actually intend for you to believe that a tiny camera is attached to the bullet my friend.
