Yeah I didn't phrase that very well, I meant his older stuff from this period, rather than songs like 'When the Going Gets Tough' and so on. Although I imagine he was recording or doing session work from the late 60s onwards.

Well I was 13 when this came out, and I have to say I don't remember it at all. # 12 in the UK, good disco/pop track and a nice key change. Prefer his older stuff on the whole.

I believe Billy Ocean kept the 'pure' version of the Motown sound going when it fizzled out because of the (sad) move to California from Detroit. They should have signed him !
